here’s the issue, we want gov’t to stop spending money… as you can see, this is the congress getting involved and willing to spend $500 mil… why does the farmer not have enough insurance coverage for this? or why do they not have any irrigation in place? those farm insurance companies, should be even thinking about re-insurance due to these droughts. as a taxpayer, i know that we need to cut the spending, but how can we if we keep spending it? farmers need to find solutions because of this situation. implement a irrigation system that can be put in place when mother nature does not cooperate. how much more will CHINA own the USA?

    Wudchuck,

You obviously have no clue what your talking about. In the midwest we are in a water shortage…do you really expect the farmer to irrigate land? We can’t water our lawns, what would make you think we would water crops? That’s what rain is for. Insurance policies come with a 20-40% deductible and the farmer isn’t guaranteed a income. If you don’t want a farm crisis, then take care of the farmer. Also, the farm program is 10% of the FDA spending. Why not focus on the 90% entitlements like food stamps.

Here’s the deal, the farmers borrow millions of dollars. If they don’t pay, then banks go under, we have a food shortage, and then you can take it from there…..

of those on foodstamps, how many can actually go to work and make money? how many of them figure uncle sam can pay for my food, clothing and a roof over my head, w/o me lifting a finger. how many folks feel that it’s easier to be disable when in fact they can work, but it’s easy money to get from uncle sam and the STATE!

we know that the fed’s even subsidize farmers to not grow particular foods. why? how many times have you heard the fed’s purch some of the grain foods and sell them to foreign countries and subsidize those sales to the farmers!

the feds just keep spending and spendnig and spending, and not all OBAMA’s fault… it’s congress!!!! and not just under this president’s watch, all previous Presidents.

farmers should have insurance that would cover these losses. it should not be up to Uncle Sam! it’d be like we have a major snow storm that caused damaged to my vehicle and now, i want my UNCLE to pay for it! in reality, we all purchased insurance – or should have to cover for these losses.

now if the banks go under, that is why there is a FDIC. but that is not the farmer’s fault for these banks going under. that is just banks doing bad business.
