Redistribution!!! FEMA is bankrupt and now they want your healthcare. FEMA did the same thing, allowed older and higher risk homes to buy at lower rates and now you see where it got us? Wake up people.

How does one explain American exceptionalism? In my life, there are a ton of explanations! How does one explain America’s failure? those who voted for Barrack Obama. Can’t blame him. He told us throughout his campaign.

PM, the country we grew up in was exceptional. In recent years, the effects of the Progressive Liberal views being taught in the public union schools which emphasizes “entitlement” mentality combined with a level of distraction we have not seen before has allowed out country to decline noticeably. People are more interested in downloading a new app than pay attention to what is going on in the country. Have you ever tried to have a conversation with a cell addict? It is virtually impossible to get their attention. They are going to get a rude awakening in the next year or so and wonder what happened while they slumbered.

PM, those of us who were paying attention could see where this guy was coming from in the first few months of his campaign. When he told Joe the Plumber that we have to spread the wealth around, that did it for me. Since then, it has been one Progressive Socialist idea after another and none of them have done the country any good. The country is in decline under this President and his Healthcare program is imploding. They just announced another delay in implementation to 2015, the Medical Devices tax is going away. Even the Democrats in the Senate think that was a bad idea.

How can you tell when a poltician is lying?

    When their lips are moving.

    Liars:
    Nancy Pelosi
    Harry Reid
    Kathleen Sebelius
    Barack Obama

The one thing Nancy did not lie about though. To find out what’s in the bill we first have to pass the bill. How prophetic (or should I say pathetic) those words were.

Dave, I saw a new study done by Actuaries which predict rating. They are predicting an overall health insurance average rate increase of 32% under Obamacare. So much for the Affordable Care Act, right? There really isn’t a way to accept several million new enrollees who have health issues and have acceptable rates. There won’t be enough healthy young coming in to offset all the sick people. They will pay their tax, do without until they get sick and then run to the exchange to get coverage. I think we have called this adverse selection in the past. This redistribution scheme will implode at some point, meanwhile a bunch of citizens will have their plans ruined and be put on Medicaid like policies and Business Groups will be scaled back because of affordability or they will drop plans entirely and pay the tax. What a deal!

One of the biggest sources for increase in healthcare costs is frivolous lawsuits. Think of healthcare as you do gasoline. You can reduce the amount you spend on gasoline in two ways. Cheaper gas and using less of it. Now think of healthcare. Because of frivolous lawsuits and the costs involved with them, the price of healthcare is greater. And because of defensive medicine to help protect one from frivolous lawsuits we consume more of it in unnecessary tests and procedures. Both items drive up the costs of healthcare because Obama needs to take care of his ambulance chasing lawyer buddies, the biggest contributors to the Democratic party.

Watch this video of Howard Dean a very liberal Democrat saying they are all afraid to take on the plaintiff’s bar. Truly disgusting!

I agree Dave. Instead of doing the right thing for the people and doing Tort Reform, they accepted the money from the Trial Lawyers and left it out of the legislation. These politicians are a bunch of thieving crooks and by the way, most of them are lawyers so they weren’t about to kill the golden goose.

Dave, I agree with you re the costs. There is no way that the care can be “Affordable” when so many people are entering the system.
I have yet to receive a response from any politician regarding the future availability of additional doctors, nurses, physician’s assistants & hospital beds. The country is already short of medical personnel, how are we to handle millions of additional people? How long will we have to wait for appointments? I forsee rationing.
In my opinion, this is one big pyramid scheme that makes Madoff look like an amateur.

Cost shifting due to a strict community rate. It’s a shell game, but those in the individual will all be screwed when the high risk people flow in. For the poor, the upper middle class and wealthy will be subsidizing them in the form of cost-shifted tax credits which will be available to lower incomes but phase out at a percentage of poverty.

I’ve already been told that I’ll be on some goverment program come October 1st which oddly enough is the expiration date of my plan. Don’t me give this crap about discriminatory practices because when all is said and done it’s still going to cost everyone an arm and a leg to have coverage no matter what. Socialized medicare here we come.

Actually, youngin’ was quoting the article: “The law, also known as “Obamacare,” eliminates discriminatory market practices that have imposed higher rates on women and people with medical conditions.”

I don’t think youngin’ was saying the practice is discriminatory. In fact, I think youngin’ was trying to explain premiums are higher for people who have higher cost to the insurer.

Do you really think this is just about women and people with medical conditions? As a “youngin”, you will be subsidizing them to pay for their healthcare. I hope you like your next rate increase.

Katie, I assume you are also troubled with the lower premiums women pay for Auto insurance because they are generally better drivers and the lower premiums they pay for life insurance because they generally live longer. Otherwise what you’re saying is sex based pricing discrimination against men is OK, but not so for women. That would be hypocritical, right?

Bob, Women use the doctor many more times than men because they have more “plumbing” issues among other things. Rates have always reflected usage of medical facilities. I have been to Emergency Rooms and Doctors offices and I promise you at least two thirds are women every time. Equality in rates? Level the playing field? Redistribute the wealth? Catchwords for the left.

This article and HHS’ spin reminds me of the time when Sec. Anyone remember what the real resulting increase was? Wasn’t it between five and nine percent?

I think we need to have Obama act quickly to help those in the auto/home market. All those poor people who get penalized for speeding, causing accidents, drinking/driving, and burning down their homes because they fall asleep smoking on their couch….please somebody help them!!!

Is it discriminatory when a customers credit score falls due to the lousy economy that is growing at a .4% pace, record unemployment etc? The companies are putting people in higher tier rating for Auto & Home premiums if their scores decline and this is at a time they can afford it least. So much for fairness. Perhaps Obama should just tell the insurance industry they cannot raise rates no matter what. He likes to control things so this should not be a problem.

ObamaCare is a lie foisted onto the American Public all in the name of an Ideal, a subjective notion of fairness and Justice as defined by WHOM??? Not me.
ObamaCare passed at 11:00 pm Christmas Eve without 1 Republican vote, Average projected rate increases are between 14% and over 100% under ObamaCare
Adverse selection, redistribution scheme, the plan/procedure/policy will implode, it cannot survive mathematically, we will all have Medicaid like policies, frivolous lawsuits, defensive medicine, $60 to $200 Billion in tort reform NOT even addressed,
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=54bUQUa_ZBc&NR=1
The only people who like this law are the “not really all that poor” people who will have it paid for. It is interesting that if I make $46,030.00 I do not get any help but if I make $46,020.00 I get a $4,125.00 tax credit. Or did I read that wrong?

This is from a guy who has increased the debt by $6Trillion in a little more than 4 years. On this pace, the country will have over a $20 Trillion debt before he leaves office and the very unsustainable Obamacare in full swing. What a wonderful example of a leader we have.

I might add Independent that the study also showed that the level of unemployment in the 18-25 age group was 25% and for the 25-34 age group was right at 20%. That is a lot of GenX people that are unemployed or underemployed which includes the failure to launch people that live with Mom and play on their ipad or iphone all day and have few marketable skills. Perhaps Obama can put them to work as Navigators for Obamacare and the 15 page app that will have to be filled out.

Price differentiation for women and persons with pre-existing conditions is not a “discriminatory practice”. It is charging a fair price for the level of services expected. If anything, leveling the premium is more unfair as some people will be paying more than the services provided to them while others will pay less.

I think this is fine to ensure more access to healthcare, I am just not OK with the language used.

All they know how to do is regulate and tax and do things that guarantee failure of businesses.
