“Under TRIA, an event cannot be considered as a terrorist act unless the U.S. Treasury secretary, the secretary of state and U.S. attorney general all certify it as an act of terrorism, which has not yet happened in the Boston bombings case, and can only happen if there is at least $5 million of aggregate property and casualty losses.”

This administration cannot make a decision on anything.

    * Keystone Pipeline – Yes or No
    * Syria using Chemical Weapons – Did they cross Obama’s “red Line”?
    * Gitmo?
    * Fort Hood – Work place violence? Or terrorist attack? (I guess they made that decision, a stupid one)

The list goes on and on. No clue Obama should be our President’s new name. Let me help you. It was a terrorist attack. Muslim extremists, hating America, mindless violence, plans to attack Manhattan, hoping to inflict fear on all of America = terrorist attack. But that doesn’t fit into the Obama talking points does it?

You are right Dave. We could have had several Terrorist Attacks if the perps weren’t so incompetent, ie Time Square bomber, underwear bomber over Detroit. I wonder if Major Hassan will ever be prosecuted and executed. The last I heard, he was fighting to keep his beard since that is the Muslim tradition and the military said he had to be clean shaven. Workplace violence my A$$.

Are you hiding out in your mother’s basement Brokie? Dave made several valid points and all you can do is equate them to Hitler’s brown shirts. This administration cannot even acknowledge that Islamic Terrorists want to kill us. What have they done about the infamous Benghazi incident except to tell the survivors to shut up and not testify to the incompetence of this government? After all, our Secretary of State said at this point, what difference does it make?

Wow, a brown shirt reference, very clearly made with no idea of what people in those shirts truly represented. It’s a shame that one can only click the Dislike option once. Ironically, it’s FEMA under the current prez who’s rolling out an armed corps of “Homeland Youth” who are classified as (again) armed first responders to disaster areas, while FEMA also continues buying armored fighting vehicles for domestic use.

So Dave, people like Fact Check think Islam is a peaceful religion and we shouldn’t condemn it just because they have been attacking this country for many years. Have you noticed as I have that the so called “Peaceful” Muslims have been silent while all this has been going on? They are afraid to speak up since they will wake up without a head or will be honor killed in the name of Allah. The crazy mother of the bombers said she didn’t care if we kill her son or herself and screamed out Allah Akbar with her parting statement. Major Hassan also said the same thing as he was gunning down innocent soldiers and yet we shouldn’t jump to conclusions and it was merley workplace violence.

Agent, I love how you lump 1,200,000 people under the label Islamic Terrorist. It only continues to show your ignorance.

“On the FBI’s official website, there exists a chronological list of all terrorist attacks committed on U.S. soil from the year 1980 all the way to 2005. According to this data, there were more Jewish acts of terrorism within the United States than Islamic (7% vs 6%). These were not terrorists who happened to be Jews; rather, they were extremist Jews who committed acts of terrorism based on their religious passions, just like Al-Qaeda and company. Yet, Americans continue to live in mortal fear of radical Islam, a fear propagated and inflamed by right wing Islamophobes.”

        http://www.loonwatch.com/2010/01/not-all-terrorists-are-muslims/

“The threat of domestic terrorism by Muslim-Americans has always been small, and it is declining further. Fourteen Muslim-Americans were indicted for violent terrorist plots in 2012, down from twenty-one the year before. The report notes that over the same period, more than 200 Americans have been killed in political violence by white supremacists and other groups on the far right.”

Libby, It is interesting that stories of Jewish Terrorism have not made the national news on anything including the Internet. I try to keep up on this kind of thing. What did they blow up killing innocent people and causing massive damage? I also have seen no stories on right wing white spremacists killing 200 Americans. Where are you getting this, from your favorite Huffington Post or Media Matters? Does it stem from what the definition of is is?

Dave – Obama did not craft the TRIA wording. And he’s not even one of the people that can trigger a “terrorist act” according to the act. Are you that hard up to find things to blame on Obama that you have to make them up?

Small businesses hoping for coverage under TRIA may be sorely disappointed. Many have experienced a business-interruption ONLY because of the closing of nearby streets, they did not have any direct damage to their business. Under most property/time element policies the Governmental Authority exclusion would still apply in this circumstance. TRIA (for those who bought it) would only apply to those suffering direct damage to their property.

The destruction caused by a terrorist attack is as insurable as everything else that has been called uninsurable in years past: earthquake, flood, windstorm and vacant buildings are only a few examples. If we are to offer such insurance, however, it needs to be by the direction of the insurance industry, not the federal government.

A standard in property insurance over the years is the War Exclusion. We do have a war against Terrorism in this country even though the libs like to say it is workplace violence or some other lame excuse. When we have Muslim extremists perpetrating atrocities, this country had better wake up. I saw a report that 3 more have been arrested in the Marathon bombings. This sounds a lot like a cell which was waiting to strike. The level of stupidity with our leadership is astounding.

Gotta love the uninformed and fanciful. If by “cell” you mean three stupid kids who chose to cover Dzhokhar’s tracks at Dartmouth, then yeah, we’ve got a cell.

These were a couple of self-radicalized idiots, Tamerlan being the leader, Dzhokhar the follower. Maybe mommy and Misha helped their convictions along. Does the Boston Muslim community have some house-cleaning to do to nip the radical among them in the bud? Oh yeah. Do we have a cell or some wider conspiracy going on? Not in the least.

Are you one of the followers? It sounds like it judging from your comment. You might not make so light of this if you were missing legs and arms like many of the victims of this attack. I have seen the graphic photos and it is really bad. Islam is the only religion I know of that thinks it is perfectly allright to kill anyone who does not ascribe to their beliefs. They actually think they will get greater reward in heaven if they kill more infidels. Dates? 20 virgins? These are very crazy people and need to be dealt with.

I think it’s important to take a step back. Please turn toward reason. No true Muslim believes they will gain a greater reward for murder. The attacks were beyond reason, heart wrenching and above all, senseless…. But shouldn’t we be thoughtful about ascribing blanket suggestions about Religions we may not know as much about?

No matter what people on TV say, and for that matter what the two brothers might have said, there is one simple fact. Killing, and murder is categorically forbidden in Islam.

I urge we do not turn as a group accusing all Muslims of a crime which two men committed, and we do not turn this into an anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant forum. This heartbreaking, thoughtless, insensible act was committed by criminals, not an entire ethnic group, a country or by a religion.

I ask, those of you who may have friends, neighbors, teachers, or colleagues who are Muslim, please resort to reason. Please check and double check the facts, and please be a voice that does not condemn an entire group.

So fact check, did you think posting the same thing twice would have more weight on this forum? People like you who think Islam is a peaceful religion is a big problem in this country. Who has been attacking us for the past 15 years one after another? These people are committed to their cause and don’t mind dying while perpetrating their atrocities. It is not workplace violence or anger about them not getting their benefits from the government. I firmly believe that all the Mosques that have been built around the country are just staging centers for their holy war against us infidels. A Muslim cannot be a good American because their allegiance will always be to Allah and they will do whatever their Imam tells them to. It is time you woke up and smelled the coffee.

Agent, you seem very upset, and this scares me a bit.

I am Muslim. What I know to be true, personally, is that much of the Muslim community is just as upset by these events as you appear to be. Saddened, sickened, heart-broken and at a loss to understand why someone, or some persons would commit such a horrific act. We live in this community, we know people who were affected, and we are crying too. I can positively respond that the religion does not teach murder, killing nor terrorism as a justified position.

You are right however in some respects. There are not enough well known Muslims in the States who eloquently are able to relay this message, and who are given a platform to condemn the atrocities. I wish I had the courage to do so, but on a grander stage, I honestly am not strong enough. I’m scared.

By the standards of many, I am decent American. I was born here. My parents were born here, my grandparents were born here, and my Children will be born here. I was homecomming queen, graduated Undergrad with a double major – Magna Cum Laude, have a masters degree, and am a VP at a Global firm. My father was an attorney, my Mom was a teacher a girl scout leader and on the PTA for years. My family personally runs a scholarship fund focused around education, and the list goes on. You may know and work with people like me, and I’d be willing to bet, you’d like and respect people like me.

“No religion has a monopoly on hatred and idiocy, and no religion has a monopoly on love, compassion, and beauty…”

eventhough I am scared to speak out in public. I urdge you to be the best of those among your community.

Fact Check, I commend your upbringing and the fact that you, your parents and grandparents were born here is a positive. The problem seems to be the ones this country lets in on student Visas from known hotbeds of Terrorism to attend school are causing most of the trouble. I would give more credence to Islam if more Muslim Americans would loudly condemn the atrocities of the radicals, but I have seen no evidence of this. Instead, we see Islam portrayed as a religion of peace and they keep blowing us up or shooting us like Major Hassan shouting Allah Akbar and supposedly this is workplace violence.

That has happened more than a few times in this country. They operate on Sharia law and don’t recognize our laws. Quite a religion, huh.
