It’s funny, because as I recall, no one was sent to prison for all the misdeeds from the sub prime mess that required the huge bail outs of AIG and numerous banks that almost brought the economy down. Some of the other big players in the scheme were Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and a whole host of other smaller banks and Investment firms.
Somehow I don’t think it would have been that hard to find the perps at each bank and AIG to prosecute individually and put them in jail. They left them alone since they were big contributors to the Democratic Party.
There are likely many reasons that misdeeds have gone unpunished, but a few seem rather obvious: 1) many roads lead right to Washington DC and 2) those involved in the private sector are involved in heavy political patronage with the perpetrators in Washington DC.
At what point will we stop engaging in intellectual dishonesty by ignoring the obvious fact that the federal government is at the core of many of our most serious problems. Until the thoroughly corrupt monstrosity that is the federal government is significantly reduced in scale and power, we will only see our situation worsen. In the meantime, we will not only see misdeeds go unpunished, but rather see the biggest perpetrators such as Dodd and Frank get their name attached to bad legislation.
When the fox is guarding the hen house, not a whole lot will get done. The best example is Eric Holder investigating Eric Holder for his recent deeds. This guy should have been out of there a long time ago.

Simple solution- prosecute the individuals and decision makers and not the entity- but they won’t do that either !
