What is the purpose of this House farm bill? I thought the voters in the “red states” advocated smaller government and were opposed to welfare.

Why then is the House passing legislation providing such a huge amount of “farm welfare”? How does the house propose paying for this windfall?

Wouldn’t it be more appropriate for the agriculture industry to manage its business risks thru cooperatives such as the farm bureaus, or thru assessment or mutual private insurance facilities?

I agree with both Lobby and Boonedoggle. But the House is not the only place where time is wasted. Time for the Senate to scale back some of the food stamp program. Lets take a look where we can cut back on the fat and feed the needy.Lets start with Free Phones, as my third grade teacher Mrs. Mc Cann once said NOTHING IS FREE!
As far as Boonedoggle is concerned I agree. Lets explore different avenues to assist the farmers that don’t cost the tax payers their shirts. However lets remember that they do feed a hungry nation, and I would rather eat a peach from the USA than some other country.
