August 29, 2013

Cochrane & Company has combined general liability and property insurance for its ARMS program for the shooting sports industry, which includes ammunition, firearms manufacturing, and all supporting specialties. The coverage is backed by a carrier rated A by A.M. Best with a financial size category of Class XIV.

Commercial property coverages built upon the special form include: theft; property in-transit (including exhibitions, sales samples, etc.); equipment breakdown; and specific property enhancements such as crime, among many others.

Specialists will consider quotes for most risks in the firearm industry, including, but not limited to: retailers/dealers; firearms wholesalers and distributors; indoor/outdoor ranges; ammunition/cartridge/bullet manufacturing; parts and accessories manufacturers; ammunition and rifle importers.

In addition, Cochrane offers specific coverages and proprietary endorsements, including:

  • ATF Proceeding Endorsement – Addresses defense of actions taken against a business by the ATF, sate, and Llocal authorities. Most only cover federal, not state & local.
  • Professional Liability Endorsement
  • Property Damage Extension (CCC) Coverage – specifically addresses the care, custody, and control exclusion on the standard general liability policy. A must for gunsmith operations or if a business takes possession of customers’ firearms or items.
  • Limited Product Withdrawal Expense and Professional Liability Coverage for expenses associated with the recall of a product. A “built-in” coverage on the general liability policy.
