Rusbuldt on McKinsey 5: Where Will Agents Really Be in 5 to 10 Years?

Rusbuldt, is right on. McKinsey has no idea what is going on the market place, what about the 100’s of companies that do not have the advertising budget to distribute their products. The insurance market place is very large. The more companies like GEICO try to make insurance a commodity the more the public relies on agents to help the consumer. Again companies that underwrite their policies after issue, based upon what the consumer puts in the web site the more distrust is created.

Given his title and role, none of Rusbuldt’s comments surprise me. Why would he do anything but extol a bright future for IA’s?

Good to listen to and think about all future potentials. Things change…better to be prepared then head in the sand. Also – will incent agents to be sure to give value added to their clients.

I worked for a direct market company and the CEO constantly stated that the independent agent distribution channel would disappear in 5 years. That was in the 1980’s. Somehow it has managed to survive nicely. What it won’t survive is an attack by the federal government which is being perpetrated on the health insurance independent agents right now.
