That storm in February in Hattiesburg, MS was devastating. It hit our downtown areas, one of our primary thoroughfares, our major university and damaged homes across the area. According to news reports, that was the first F4 tornado on record that resulted in zero casualties. We were blessed! If this new rating system could increase the public’s attention during that span, our area would be all for it!

This type of change might be a positive in today’s society. That small storm in Hattiesburg, MS did MAJOR damage to our area, both in Hattiesburg and in the towns surrounding it. Our university, one of our major thoroughfares, the business section of town, and scores of residential neighborhoods were affected dramatically. Thankfully, ours was the first F4 tornado on record to end with no casualties. We were so blessed. If a new rating system will be more attention-grabbing than the old, I don’t see any reason not to make the swap.
