Does anyone else think this has less to do with the economy and more to do with the fact that parents enable their kids like never before and kids are more spoiled than ever before?

Young adults don’t seem to want to give up the comforts of home (big screen TV, meals cooked to order by mom, laundry service, etc.) so they won’t move in to an apartment with a couple of roommates and live on Raman noodles like previous generations did. I see plenty of ads in the paper and online for job openings, but I saw some young college grad interviewed and he said he deserves to make $80,000 a year to start and he won’t take a job for less. I guess mom and dad keep giving him money and letting him live rent-free at home…

I disagree. I think a lot of it has to do with the skyrocketing cost of education and the subsequent burden of student loan repayment. Many kids come out of school with a student loan burden bigger than the mortgages of prior generations.

In addition, young first-time homebuyers are increasingly priced out of the market. I often wonder what many of the homebuyers of today actually do for a living. I heard a radio bit today citing Dallas, Seattle and Austin as three cities where housing is more affordable and accessible to first-time young buyers. Then again, I just saw an ad in a magazine this morning for a small 2/1.1 100 year old home in East Dallas. The list price was $369,000. An acquaintance just sold his dumpy 2-bedroom in E. Dallas the day it listed and for 8% over list price (about $250k), and it fronts an active railroad track and power lines. Austin is worse, with a majority of homes selling for $200+/sq ft. A well-kept 2,400 ft home from the 60s in a transitional neighborhood in South Austin can easily run about half a million bucks. That’s a lot of dough. We own our home and are stretched to the max every month with two incomes. Our home is very modest with a note under $200k, and we only have one car note on a modest vehicle. And we are doing a heck of a lot better than most. We struggle to understand what all these folks buying $500k+ houses actually do for a living.

Another factor could be the increasing frequency with which the younger generation is delaying marriage and children. Again, I suspect this is in part a factor of the ‘wageless recovery’ in which real incomes for the vast majority of people are flat or falling–and have been for many years. Long gone are the days where a single-income household could live comfortably and afford a home and children. And these days, not even two full incomes are enough. People are increasingly stretched for time and for money, and moving in with the folks is increasingly viewed as a way to significantly reduce monthly expenditures and build savings.

The suggestion that young adults can’t do their own laundry and are staying at home so they can watch ‘big screen TV’ is quite frankly offensive. Not to mention tone deaf. By the way, you can get a pretty big flat screen TV these days for a couple hundred bucks, and young adults are a lot more likely than older folks be cord cutters without cable subscriptions. By the way, what ads do you see for jobs in the newspaper? That is a joke. The only newspaper job ads are scams, call center jobs and pyramid schemes. And online job searching is an utter waste of time.

I think in some cases parents are enabling their children by allowing them to remain in their household and basically free loading, however I feel that more often than not, this is not the case. I am a young college graduate that is currently residing with my parents. I have a career, but definitely don’t make $80,000 a year and I don’t think I am entitled to that salary fresh out of college. I don’t freeload off of my parents and I do my own cooking, cleaning etc. The reason I am living at home is due to the outrageous cost of education. The amount that I am paying on my federal student loans each month would equal double the amount that I would pay in rent each month. As I do not desire to be in debt for the remainder of my life, I made the financial decision to move back in with my parents post-college to allow myself to get out of debt and start my adult life on the right foot. I don’t think it’s fair to assume that every young adult that is living with their parents is lazy. I am hardworking and very appreciative of my parents for allowing me to live with them and I am extremely lucky to have the opportunity because I know there are a lot of post-grad individuals out there struggling. Like I said before, a portion of my generation has a lot of work to do when it comes to becoming independent adults, but I think the rest of us are doing just fine.

I think in many cases companies are(and have been for the past few years) paying their entry/lower level employees as little as they can get away with. I’m living on my own but my cupboards are essentially bare, I rarely have time or money to do laundry, I work at least 40 hours a week and pick up overtime whenever it’s offered but I make a paltry $17,000 or so a year at my job. I’m trying to work my tail off and climb the corporate ladder as best as I can. And I try to stay positive but it can be hard when I can barely afford to live. I don’t feel as if I’m entitled to an $80,000 a year salary, but I would say with the degree I have I am deserving of at least a living wage ($30,000+) which I can also pay off my student loan debt and credit card debt from car repairs and school.

In a way Obama and his anti-business policies are heavily to blame but I also feel like there is a disconnect between employers and their employee compensation especially in regards to inflation. Not to mention it’s now even harder to get/afford health insurance.

Destro – I agree. Ever since the bottom fell out of the economy in 2008, employers have been lowballing compensation in a big way because they can. Raises are a joke. Insulting, really.

If I hadn’t had the rug pulled out from under me in 2008, I’d be ready for early retirement. Now, I will have to continue working for several more years. And yes, there will not be an empty seat for the younger generation because of it.

Destro, on my Saturday morning golf game, we ask each other when we expect to retire. Most say that they don’t expect to retire because the libs won’t let them. They need those exorbitant taxes from working people for more worthless programs. It is just a matter of time before they raise the retirement age again. By the time you get to that age, it may be in the 70’s to retire. It is a good idea to do an IRA when you are able to put something back. Social Security is not retirement, just a supplement.

Destro, I admire your determination and spunk. The key to success is to make yourself invaluable to your employer. You will be recognized if you show initiative. I don’t know what you do in insurance, but sales is where the money is. The amount you make is limited only by your desire to succeed and ability to convince a prospective customer that you have the best program available and get their signature on the dotted line. If you are just an order taker over the phone, you will probably not advance very far with that company.

I don’t see much upward mobility at all in the area I work in at the moment besides that there is potential to promoted into the AR/AP dept. which I’m pretty sure pays significantly better.

Let me agree with college grad and biker that this is due to the economy today vs. laziness.

Rents are way up, tuition for higher education is just plain silly and jobs pay less than they used to.

IE, When I moved to FL, I could rent a 2br beachfront apartment for $750.00 per month. Twenty years later that same apartment is 3250.00 per month.
When I moved to FL I got a job with a local company that paid me $300.00 per week until my commissions started rolling in (I had six months to get there) With a roommate I could afford the rent on my starter salary.
Nursing friends of mine point out that what they paid for five years of schooling graduating with an RN, now covers just one semester at a school to be a LPN.
Lastly when I moved to FL, jobs that were hard and dirty like landscaping, bus boy, roofing paid living wages as companies had not yet figured out how to get illegals to do the job for minimum wage.

We got a lot of issues, and people who in generations past would have homes and families of their own living at home is just the visible symptom of our problems.

I think your both correct. Student Loans multiplied by the job market. I dont blame Obama for the job market he inherited. But DC has got to be held accountable for putting jobs on the back burner in favor of other things like Foreign Policy, immigration among other. All more important to them then bringing our jobs back home.

When is the last time anyone in DC even stated that Job Creation was a top priority? Where are the shovel ready jobs the administration said were ready?

This trend will continue to be necessary until someone in DC pulls their heads out of their a#@s.

Anti-business policies such as those fostered by the current administartion are just killing jobs in this country. Just got an email today from my Senator Dick Durbin about inversions (companies buying overseas operations and moving their headquarters their to take advantage of lower tax rates). He’s proposing legislation to punish those who move jobs overseas and rewarding those bringing jobs onshore further mucking up our already complicated tax system. Why not just get rid of most loopholes and deductions and lower tax rates for all businesses to be more competitive with overseas countries AND simplify our tax code? Jeesh!

KY, I am amazed at your lack of understanding sometimes. Do you not think that Federal Tax policy, regulation policy chiefly through the now infamous EPA has any impact on job creation? Why do you think Obama promised job creation through the Stimulus that wasn’t a Stimulus? How many shovel ready jobs were created? If job creation was just the responsibility of the States, why did Texas get the message and the Blue States didn’t? How many jobs has the state of Kentucky created for their citizens in the past few years? I will give you a hint. High taxes, burdensome regulation, few incentives for employers to hire or move there. Has the light bulb lit up over your head yet?

Another question without answering mine, again? I still want to know how you can say President Obama’s policies are killing jobs then reference how even blue states are creating jobs. That is a contradiction. If you want to say that his policies are limiting job creation, I will agree with you.

My post was thumbed down 22 times just for asking for statistical evidence to prove that you are correct. Every time someone complains about how bad things are, I ask for data to support the position, yet you cannot justify this with facts and data.

You complain that President Obama was elected by uninformed Independents, yet fail to provide any when an Independent asks for information. That is why your candidates keep losing, no facts to back up your positions.

Quit with the rhetoric and talking points and stick to facts and you may gain some Independents. Or is the problem that the facts are just not on your side.

A lot of moving parts here. A long time ago I lived with my parents until I was 26. I could have moved out sooner, but it allowed me to save up more money for the down payment I made on my condo when I moved out. Today the economy is tougher (it was tough back then, but I got a job in my field of education). You also have students graduating today with lots of debt and useless degrees in the Humnanities, etc. And there is portion of kids today who are just plain lazy or feeling entitled. I don’t know ther stats of why various kids are living longer at home but that would be an interesting study. Bottom line, kids should strive to get an education in a decent paying field or if not the college type, learn a useful trade. Relying on low skills and a minimum wage job (despite potential future increases) is a bad strategy. And I make a pretty good living having graduated from the University of Illinois. Probably more than most Harvard graduates. You don’t have to go to an Ivy League school to get a good paying job. You just have to learn a job well and work hard at it.

Students never had debt like this until Saint Reagan changed the educational playing field. Once again, it all boils back to Ronnie. When are we going to collectively realize the trickle down experiment has failed a strong majority of Americans? It has created the largest wealth gap in the history of the world. Capitalism doesn’t have to go, it existed before the Hollywood actor and it will prevail without his rotten model. His own economic advisor has admitted its failure. 30+ years of Reaganomics is ruining this country!

As usual, wrong on so many fronts Captain. What does Reaganomics have to do with the cost of education. Face it, educators have the Democratic party in their back pocket. They kill competition by killing school vouchers and forcing kids (especially the poor) to go to their inferior schools raising the cost of education to all and funding those fat guaranteed defined benefit pension plans while we all get stuck with defined contribution plans. As most on the left you have no concept of basic economics. You’re worse than Obama blaming everything in Bush 6 years into his awful administration. He’s had 6 years to fix the mess and ony has made it worse.

As usual Planet, you are on another planet posting your drivel. Trickle up Poverty practiced by your savior is why the job market has not come back. The US has the highest corporate tax rate in the world (35%). There are few incentives this administration has given to encourage companies to hire. All the companies see are more burdensome taxes and regulations. Also, students are majoring in things like Fine Arts & Humanities and are unskilled for the jobs out there. Perhaps they should have picked a different major after getting job counseling on where the jobs are.

So Cap, who has done what to correct the problem? NAFTA? China Trade Agreement? Eurpoean Trade Agreement? All fine and dandy you have it nailed down to the source. Who, besides you actually cares when it started? Concern should be when is it going to end? What has anyone done – including all past administrations no matter what party to turn things around?

I would argue that the OBama Administration has hurt any recovery efforts and has done absolutely nothing in the job creation arena. Nothing to stop the flow of jobs leaving the country. I dont know what any past pres did. What matters is the here and now. For 6 years, this a hole has done nothing about it. His Obama Care law has actually been a job killer.

I’m sick of all the blame being laid on one person when it is Congress’ faulty – on both sides. The House (GOP) and the Senate (Democrat.)

Libby, you made the wrong vote – twice. Voting against any Republican to get what we have now is not a wise decision. McCain was no winner, but even if he had done nothing at all, the country would not be in the abyss like we are now. Romney was a RINO as well, but he at least understood business and how to run the economy. A healthy economy is the most important thing to this country right now. Your President cares nothing, knows nothing and is content to see it rot from within.

Destro, Senators are almost as disengaged as the President in addressing the country’s problems. Look at Harry Reid as an example. He hasn’t allowed a debate or vote on any House generated legislation in several years. It is called being the protector of the President and his agenda so no veto will have to be used. He seems to be content in letting the President rule with the pen. What a joke! Hopefully, we will change out the Senate and put a real leader who will put bills out for debate and vote. Let’s make the usurper veto something for a change. That ought to get the approval rating down into single digits.

        Ronald Alzheimer Reagan’s “supply-side economics”

The only recorded instance of a true statement made by a member of the Bush dynasty was in 1980, when George H.W. Bush attacked Reagan’s snake-oil economic disaster in the making by calling it “voodoo economics.” He later ate those words when he became vice-president, began kissing up to reactionaries, and discovered how lucrative deregulation of the S&L’s was to embezzlers like his sons Neil and Jeb.

    Dave:

I think you nailed it. My son recently graduated and he took the initiative to rent a house along with 3 other grad buddies in order to afford the rent, utilities etc. They split everything 4 ways. One guy got the short straw and lives in the basement although it is in decent shape.
They are all starting out and some have better starting jobs than the others. My son was fortunate in that regard.
On the other hand, I have a niece that has about 50 thousand in student loans. She blew some of the money on her boyfriend, clothes she did not need 2 different cars (I think), etc. She admits to about 10 thousand she could have saved. Now she will have to start paying it back in about 6 months. She has accepted decent starting job but went out and bought a new car. So, she can’t afford to live anywhere but home. Not sure how long that will be or how long she will remain compatible with her parents after being away to school.
But you correct there are a lot of moving parts and it depends on a lot of variables including the degree they obtain, debt they take on, ability to manage money, how creative and hard working they are, how good they are at networking etc. The economy does not help either and jobs are not like pulling low hanging fruit.

Hi Sargeant. I agree with you. In our case with two daughters, they went off to college, one became a PA for a doctor practice, one became a Pharmacist and they never came back home to mooch on us. They had a clear idea what to do and were smart enough to get their degree/licensing in a field they could make a living at and have been very successful. On the other hand, my nephew went to college, got his degree, a good paying job and still mooched on my brother until he was 28 years old because they let him. By the time he finally left due to getting a girlfriend and then married, he had more money than most since he had been putting it all away with no household expenses etc.

Because he had a good job, benefits and still chose to mooch off his parents. Three squares, free rent, laundry, no responsibilities, come and go as he pleased. My brother did draw the line on him bringing the girlfriend home to spend the night. The nephew was truly a “Failure to Launch” guy and took advantage as long as he could. He still could have saved plenty of money and should have been living independently.

Keep your blight down there and stop trying to evangelize your disease to America. If you ask me, it sounds like his parents were enablers. I’m not saying he is blameless, but why didn’t his parents stop doing his laundry, dishes, etc??? You can’t just blame the kids. If mommy doesn’t stop wiping his butt, why should he stop asking?

I don’t think there is anything wrong with living at home for a reduced rent with your folks so you can get yourself straight financially, but the parents have no one to blame but themselves for doing his laundry, buying his food and cooking his dinner.

My kids were raised entirely different than me and were not in need of much. They have worked and taken out loans in their own name and have been paying them back. Set expectations and home them acccountable.

Good one CalDude. In my case, my dad never made good money as a route salesman, but we never starved. I was the first in the family to get a college education and worked my way through on jobs and a scholarship. I had a very strong work ethic instilled in me and realized I couldn’t live at home because my parents couldn’t afford it. I know it is different now and education costs have gone way up, but kids going to college with useless majors and never having worked a day in their life have few marketable skills. I don’t count downloading apps on a smart phone a marketable skill.

It’s not just kids going to school for some throwaway degree (i.e. philosophy, anything art related, music, women’s studies, any particular group-studies for that matter, etc, etc.) the job hunt situation is as hard as it’s ever been if not harder for most everyone who didn’t graduate with a 4.0 with honors and 2-3 internships before leaving school.

I’ll assert again that it’s generational, not political.

Could be a generational thing. Most people lean Liberal until they actually start working and leave college. then as they grow up a bit their views tend to change to conservative. Really looking forward to the conservative direction our country will be going soon.

I don’t know about most people, but I grew up in a Republican household and voted Republican for my first 2 elections. Then I started to see that the world isn’t black and white and I didn’t want to vote the party line, so I switched to independent. I was independent for over 20 years before I decided I just didn’t like the way the Republican party was headed on social issues. I believe in being fiscally conservative and am that way in my own life. But I also believe in freedom to live your life the way you want as long as you’re not infriging upon the rights of others. That makes me socially liberal. It is possible to be both.

I clearly stated that if I lived closer to my parents I might, and I am not ashamed of that. So therefore, try to keep up Agent, I don’t live with them. Hope that wasn’t over your head.

I have great parents that care about me and my future and I am going to care just as much about my kids future. Apparently you didn’t and/or you don’t care for your kids (god help your children if you do have kids). A good parent can teach responsibility while still helping their children out when/how needed.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with a student paying at least some of his way through school. It seems like a part of being an adult and gaining some responsibility. That said a lot of students do not use the money wisely, blow a lot of it and take more than they need. If mom or dad is not around to help them understand the consequences then they will have a lot of debt to pay back. One thing for certain, you will pay back government loans, period. You can’t run or hide, file bankruptcy or just not pay. They will get their money
I knew of a guy who had loans when he went into the Marine Corp. The government loan people found him in a bar in South Vietnam at 3 am- He got a phone call, took the phone and it was them wanting their money. HaHaHa

Sargeant, a lot of these young people are taking inventory of their parents home to see what they get on the inheritance. They get into some big fights with their siblings when the will is read. They were counting on cleaning up and sometimes it doesn’t work out so well.

        Agent,
Yes, there can be fights but that can be eliminated with a trust and a will. Even a simple will can lay out what goes to who. I believe a good attorney who specializes in trusts and wills can handle it. I also think the decision should rest with the parents and a good trust, will and medical power of attorney fixes that.

Nah it wouldn’t happen like that. The debt collector would have been a 3rd party collector which is they way it always has been. His CO would have been skiptraced. While this marine was at a massage parlor getting a rub and tug at 3am, his CO would have told him that he needs to pay up on his debt and the marines should have looked at his credit before allowing him in. I am sure this occured within the last 40 years that we have occupied the region. But you are correct in that government backed student loans can not be included in a bankruptcy.

Nope, sorry maggot. Still didn’t happen that way. I wasn’t a debt collector but I made the call when it was time to litigate or start the collection process. Funny how in the line of work I was in, the client base was predominantly Republican (Job Creators, High and Tights). GI Joe was told he was a hero and that he should never be denied credit to start up his AR-15 shack, even if he was a stock boy at local PX and lacked many of the essential skills needed to run a business. I did enjoy the repo process though as rare as it was. Of course after attempting to make contact with the borrower for several weeks, there was nothing better than grabbing someone’s boat from their 2nd home and watching their face as they were no longer allowed at the all-male country club due to adverse attention. There were several other dead give away traits like the lapel flag pin, the souvenir wife they brought back with them from being stationed overseas 40 years after the war, the income taxes that should have been written in crayon because they were a joke with all the write-offs for the craziest things you’ve ever seen. I think you are thinking of a sub-prime lender with all the high interest rates and 10 year old collateral like the companies that you are probably familiar with borrowing from. Sub-prime by the way is your inner-city, rural conservatives, and your friends on 8 Mile demographically. I was in commercial lending working in business start ups, franchising, commercial real estate, and marine. Had a lot of insurance agencies on the books as well. That’s another story. Liberals/Moderates like making money too and are just as shrewd business people. They just don’t believe in austerity and believe in the free market not the quasi capitalism you believe in.

I really don’t think this is such a bad thing; in ethnic families, particularly with immigrant parents/grandparents and 1st generation kids, the children are expected to stay home until they get married. Given the exorbitant cost of college, rents, a really lousy job market, etc., I think the boomerang kid is a good thing for family relationships.

Hey Geek, put yourself in parents situation. They had some empty nest syndrome when the kid moved out and went off to college. Then, they started making plans to enjoy life, travel and do what they wanted to do after supporting the kid for 20+ years and sacrificing for them. Then, here comes the kid back home with a completely different lifestyle, gets his shrine bedroom back, 3 squares, laundry, no bills and draining the family budget. So much for enjoying their future plans. If the kid can get a job, he should move out and support himself like his dad did when he was young. It is called tough love for the lazy and forces them to grow up.

How about this instead. They had some empty nest syndrome when the kid moved out and went off to college. Then, they started making plans to enjoy life, travel and do what they wanted to do after supporting the kid for 20+ years and sacrificing for them. Then, here comes the kid back home and Mom is ecstatic. Dad finally has someone to mow the grass and do the heavy lifting. The son also pays rent, which supplements their retirement income so they are able to travel the world while knowing their house is occupied and being taken care of while they’re gone. What’s wrong with that scenario? Not that I would EVER want to live with my parents. Once I was gone at 17, I was gone!

After 4,5 or 6 years off at college, these kids have a different outlook, lifestyle than they did when they left. They don’t want to come home, start mowing the yard, taking out the trash or cleaning their room like a teenager. If they do pay rent assuming they can find a job flipping burgers, they are generally not happy campers and resentment builds between the parents and the kid. Your scenario is ok in spots, but reality is different. Ask FFA what happened when his daughter moved back in. He will give you the real story.

Well, FFA doesn’t require more of his kids. Not all parents are like that. I don’t see a problem if the kid is working, paying rent, and contributing to the household. Especially if they are saddled with student loan debt. If the parents didn’t have the wherewithal to fund for their education, the least they can do is give them a hand up after college as long as they are responsible adults.

One is living who knows where, one is in a room rental situation and barely making it as no one will hire full time and my daughter is living in her car. Made things too easy for them – feeding the and giving them a bed to sleep in – the bare necessities.

I tell my wife we were lucky, raised two great girls who had the right values, got their education and started their careers, didn’t have babies out of wedlock and have not had to come home to us. If either were in trouble or needed financial help, we would be there for them, but only to help them get back on their feet. It is admirable that you are raising the grandkids and at least they are not in foster care. That generally does not work out well in the long run.

What makes you think the family budget is being drained? If I couldn’t afford to let my kids move in, I would certainly tell them so. If it’s not going to affect those of us still at home, where’s the harm in letting a child move in temporarily? Every family makes the decision that works for them. Leave them alone.

By the way, Libby got it wrong again and said I was complaining about moochers living with me. The “nephew” I referred to was living with my brother and mooching. If it were my son, he would have been out of there at least 4 years earlier since he had a good job, benefits and was easily supporting himself.

I think the idea of moving away from home to go to college is something that needs to change. Graduating with a mountain of debt all for a so-called “college experience” is just not realistic anymore. I lived at home while I was in college – went to a local community college and then on to university. I worked while in school and had to commute an hour each way. Maybe it was not all fun and games, no wild partying to reminisce upon, etc, but I graduated with no debt and was able to move away from home for a good job within a year of graduating. That was 14 years ago, and I’ve been fortunate to be self-sufficient ever since. Perhaps if today’s high school kids thought more about living at home while getting their education rather than moving away from home, they’d be better off come graduation day.

The major increases in college tuition occurred in small private liberal arts colleges across the nation. These are typically conservativesque type environments where the children can be babysat in small class rooms during their college experience. It will also give them the opportunity to study ever so important majors like Humanities before they somehow get an MBA with no prior business curriculum or work experience. Many of these kids are going into a family business or already have a predestined career path ahead of them and simply will not have to compete for anything. The standards are much lower with fewer STEM programs and the fact that no school will turn down $50k a year to a legacy student. The only thing that matters is what year and color your BMW is. Many of those in charge of the largest corporate failures in recent times had this life chosen from them by “father and babs”. They weren’t liberals that’s for sure.

The people you’re talking about account for maybe .1% of college students. About 90% of college professors are liberals or lean to the left. The few conservative faculty members are generally reserved to the money making degree/career paths, i.e. accounting, finance, law, etc.

Of course it’s rare for the conservative faculty to have much of a voice because often times they will be quietly ostracized by the people they work with. You’ll find a similar trend with the students because of this overwhelming liberal influence. Of course it’s not at every college but it is very much widespread. It’s one of the aims of the Communist Party of the United States (scumbag MF’ers).

sounds like college wasn’t the right choice for you. You should have talked to the recruiters when they called you after you filed you selective service. Then you would be able to see the other side of the coin. Conservatism is the dinosaur that you find burried under the ground when you are looking for WMD. The real WMD is the ideology of conservatism, quick to pull the trigger without consequence. Technology is replacing jobs and conservatives are against creating new technology to create new jobs. They can’t figure a way to take control of those new endeavors and make money off it, so they block any attempt to create new ideas. It would absolutely confirm their obsolescence and generations of fortunes would be diminished because they were still trying to push VHS tapes on the digital generation.

College bad choice = you weren’t looking to expand your thought process for yourself, you expected someone to tell you how you should think = conservatism/fraternalism

Coin = College Liberal training/Military = conservative training

Dinosaur = Ancient, WMD = diversion to go to war, another conservative tactic, we dug for WMD using an archaic political philosophy, also known as sleight of hand trickery. Liberals don’t fall for that.

Technology costing jobs = conservatives prefer antiquated methods they can control and have been programmed for. Liberals create new technologies/ideas and expand on them. Conservatives block said ideas and technologies in order to keep control, keep relevant, and make sure their “royalty” remains intact.

In fact conservatism derives from the ye merry olde England rule of subsistence and obedience, just one of the reasons we declared independence. Conservative southern landowners, already programmed to be controlled by the ruling party no longer had their decision makers making the calls. Well all know how that turned out in the end, pee-paw fought on the losing side.

jack, where has the American Dream gone? When I was in college, we had an economy where college graduates could reasonably expect to find a job and start a career. No one expected to start at the top (except Liberal Law degree students). Hard work, personal responsibility, initiative were rewarded to advance. You appreciate it a lot more if you work hard for it. I have seen the kids with the silver spoon inheriting a business and they are mostly worthless unless the Dad made them work from the bottom up. Then, they had a chance to go forward with the career.

Destro, Socialism is the precursor to Communism. All property is owned or controlled by the State. When you control the people, there is no incentive to get ahead because it belongs to the State. When have you seen someone from a Socialistic country ever invent anything to benefit mankind? Just about every modern invention has been created in America by individuals with an idea. Bill Gates started out in his garage with a couple of buddies and he has done quite well. Steve Jobs had a similar background. I doubt if either could have done it living with a bunch of relatives in a Moscow apartment under that system.

I know that it gets busy that time of the year so we plan our party for at least two weeks prior to Christmas so the employees can be with their families during the holiday. Agent – stop with the censoring. It’s really getting old. People respond and I have to click twice to see what they’re responding to. It’s really childish.

        Breaking News:
Texican insurance agent arrested on several counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Herbert Erassmus Boogeyman solicited the company of a young mailroom clerk and conspired to convert other young “male” clerks into ultra conservatism. They were seen leaving together in a white car with no roof. The rear passenger was wearing a matching white suit and was smoking a cigar. Attempts to ID the perp can be seen in the grainy photo.

I cannot believe there are so many thumbs down for Booger. He is super funny – even if you disagree. We should still be able vote after it’s been censored and get a chance to reverse it!

Couldn’t agree more, Lucy. But the right wing, in it’s typical Gestapo fashion, has silenced our voices. Let’s write to IJ in protest!

Thank you Lucy. I get paid more money by IJ the more red clicks I get. I’m like a heel in professional wrasslin’, something the righties really dig. Feel free to continue liking comments after they are censored, you can reverse it. We are working on a reversing a post that Agent wrote stating that he and his partner are finally covered due to the ACA. He accused me of doing it and considered it “Mini ID Theft” I can send you the link if you would like.

IJ won’t let me vote more than once, so even if I like something I can only give it one thumb.

P.S. I sent an email to IJ about it.

you will have to wait about an hour before you can revote again. You also can’t open the comment up when you are trying to vote. You can also double click really quick and beat the system. I have my phone, PS3, Xbox, Desktop, laptop and tablet about to go at the same time. We’s gunna rock the mike on this one. Just click on a name you recognize, trust you like what they are saying, quick double click. As always, PRAY TELL!

I guess you have all the time in the world to vote down all these comments when you don’t have a successful agency and are a bad agent. Maybe you should hire one of those kids living in their parents basement, they could probably turn your agency around easily.

Hey Agent – you missed some comments at the top. You might want to go back and censor those as well.
