I just read that due to the sunspot cycle we are going to enter into a mini ice age in the next decade. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/07/15/newsbytes-suns-bizarre-activity-may-trigger-another-little-ice-age-or-not/

In fact, Plymin, scientists were predicting another ice age back in the late 70s early 80s according to Discover Magazine. I wish I would have held on to that issue!

Lean forward America as you shall pay for your sins of progress and rape of mother earth.

Or as we conservatives say- lets redistribute the wealth of this great country to the rest of the world that’s too lazy (socialist) or too stupid (Africans) to make it on their own.

Bob- the democratic party is about nothing other than political correctness. Unless it’s something said or done by a democrat. I’m just throwing their fried chicken back in their face. I’ll debate political correctness because it’s important. It’s important to not be politically correct in my opinion. When you use terms like racist, homophobe, bigot simply to shut down the opposing view you have already lost your argument, and you have lost your argument because you don’t apply the same standards to people in your same party. Michele Obama telling democrats to go eat fried chicken proves my point. Can she say that simply because she’s black? If so, she’s a racist. You can bet if a white republicans wife had said it you would still be hearing about it. So it’s political incorrectness to me. Let’s hold blacks to the same standard, that is if you fell blacks are capable of it? Of course if you don’t then you might be a racist. So have some fried chicken Bob.

Jack: It’s important to know the entire context of the statement before calling it racist.

The exchange was initiated by Martin, and the context appeared to be Michelle Obama’s favored initiative: healthy food choices. (The First Lady created the “Let’s Move” program, aimed at encouraging childhood fitness and improved nutrition for Americans.)

Martin brought up the general topic of soul food and asked: “So can we … if we go out to the polls, can we — say, we have a souls to polls on Sunday — can we do soul food after we vote?”

Mrs. Obama replied: “Absolutely. I give everyone full permission to eat some fried chicken after they vote … Only after, if you haven’t voted.

[Interjection] You make a good point. Because I am, I do talk about health. But I think that a good victory for Democrats on Tuesday, you know, should be rewarded with some fried chicken.”

The only thing racist about the exchange is the right’s reaction to it.

FYI- Tim Scott (black repub) got 85% of the white vote in SC and Jim Clyburn (black demo) calls him an uncle Tom. If only 10% of blacks voted for Tim Scott as a black man doesn’t that make them the racist or is it simply because they vote Democrat?

I guess the people of SC must be really racist voting in a black senator?

Just commenting on race does not make you a racist. Maybe you should study the definition.

“Racism consists of both prejudice and discrimination based in social perceptions of biological differences between peoples. It often takes the form of social actions, practices or beliefs, or political systems that consider different races to be ranked as inherently superior or inferior to each other, based on presumed shared inheritable traits, abilities, or qualities.”

Predjudice and discrimination. A feeling that one race is superior and the other inferior. Asking a health advocate if black voters can eat soul food after voting is NOT racist in any way, shape, or form.

Ok, I do agree that if a republican said that democrats could go out and eat soul food after voting Obama it would have been considered racist by democrats. But who cares?

It is all in the intent of the matter. I would have a hard time seeing someone that was a republican saying that phrase without it having the intent to be an insult.

Whereas Michelle did not mean it that way.

If someone were saying republicans were all racist you can certainly show them they are wrong. I certainly have no problems with this. Like for example Biden saying to a mostly black audience that they are going to “put them back in chains”. Now there is a comment to pay attention to.

            Not racist.

He was responding to something Romney had said. “At a campaign rally in Danville, Va., Biden quoted Romney as saying that “in the first hundred days he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules — unchain Wall Street.

“They’re going to put y’all back in chains,” Biden added, presumably referring to Romney and new running mate Paul Ryan.

“The Vice President has often used a similar metaphor to describe the need to ‘unshackle’ the middle class,” Cutter said. “Today’s comments were a derivative of those remarks, describing the devastating impact letting Wall Street write its own rules again would have on middle class families.”

Earlier this year, Biden said, “the last time we unshackled Wall Street, America’s middle class was shackled.”

He was not talking about race.

He was talking to a black crowd. He chose those words intentionally.

And if you have black friends, I challenge you to go to them and ask them what they think about wall street and big business. Biden knew who he was talking to. They think the same thing you do, only they think race is a component.

What Romney says about unchaining wall street is completely irrelevant to Biden’s remarks. There is no way a smart man like Biden did not know he would be talking to a black audience.

Michelle Obama did not say black people like fried chicken and watermelon. She was asked a question and responded by talking about fried chicken.

Not much at stake. We’ll see how your side does for the next 2 years. Unless McConnell can reign in Rubio, Cruz, and Paul, there will just be more of the same stuff Americans spoke out about. Unless you can learn to play nice with others and actually get things done, your side doesn’t have a chance in 2016. And I don’t think you can pull it off. Did you know that in exit polls 54% had a negative opinion of Obama? But 56% have a negative opinion of the Republican party as a whole. You would be wise to move a little center if you want to pick up the Latino and Black vote. Without them, you’re toast. And they WILL show up in 2016.

The democrats have not played nice with republicans, far more than republicans have not played nice with the democrats.

Democrats are better at the public image of their forceful tactics, but that doesn’t make them any less the ones that don’t play nice.

I seem to recall getting campaign emails that people would die, the elderly would starve, etc if republicans didn’t give them what they wanted in with the shut down time period.

        That is not playing nice.

Spending cuts is what everyone wanted. Spending cuts is what republicans put in play.

Tax increases is what greater than 50% of Americans didn’t want. Tax increases is where democrats refused to budge when the government shut down occurred.

It was blamed on republicans, who went with both the things the people wanted.

Tell me how that makes sense.

And I might add, the republicans did budge, and gave tax increases.

They gave far more tax increases than the democrats did in cuts.

So the republicans went against the public desires to give the democrats what they wanted.

Seems pretty messed up doesn’t it? That the republicans were blamed for standing their ground on giving you what you wanted?

I will even admit that I said something nasty to you a few weeks ago, it was not b.c I am not on your side with most issues, it was that I was really irritated at your (and you are right, not just you, Agent AKA Freedom..AKA I won’t mention his real name, Jack, Sarge and the rest that cannot play nice) responses and you seemed to be soo stubborn like the ones above mentioned. I expect that from them, but not from you. And yes, I felt like a tart afterwards for being so childish, not in my nature.

I do think you are smart and know what you are talking about in most cases or can just respect where you are coming from. It has gotten back to that now that you are being respectful, knowledgeable AND classy..triple threat. And even if they aren’t to you, know you are the classier one and WE do notice and appreciate it.

Bob, goes for you too, you have really turned a new leaf and it is refreshing to see this from you and Libby, keep up the good work and good debates…I do love to see other’s opinions when it is done in the right manner.

I know you get slammed a lot Libby, but continue trucking on this new path and Bob too, it IS noticed by others and maybe, just maybe others will begin to follow suit…or am I just thinking too positive!! LOL

            Respectfully,
Fan of the new Libby and Bob :)

I don’t really like any of the mean spirited comments.

The conservative side has actually become meaner than usual lately here. That’s what has my comments are different.

In this case, Libby has backed off and they haven’t. Sometimes it goes the other way around. When it goes the other way around I always defend the other guys. When it goes against Libby, I stick up for her. That’s the basics of it.

I tend to be mostly mean when insulted though. I am trying to even avoid that. It is good that it is noticed. Thank you.

Libby, you provide an article from a snot nosed young liberal from Yahoo and take that as gospel. You leftist’s must be exhausted from defending Socialism and trying to spin that this is somehow a victory for Hillary. This election was a total repudiation of leftist ideas and governance. Hillary is going to have a lot of trouble defending her recent statement that jobs are not created by corporations and businesses. She is cut from the same cloth as Obama who famously said to business that “You didn’t build that”, “You didn’t do that”.

Agent – I didn’t post anything “as gospel.” I just said I thought it was in interesting article. I do happen to agree with the writer, however.

Hillary doesn’t have any troubles at all. She’s the most qualifed candidate and is wildly popular. If the election was today, she’d be the hands-down winner.

We need a woman in the White House. Step aside and watch us work. We’ll have this country in ship-shape before you know it. All you guys have to do is take out the garbage.
