Keith Alexander is a former director of the National Security Agency. They day the Sony hack news broke I predicted it would be followed by a propoganda campaign by current and former national security officials urging passage of CISPA, a bill which would grant the NSA and other government agencies with broad legal access to public & private company data.
CISPA would have done nothing to prevent or mitigate the Sony hack. So why is it being touted as the solution to prevent future such attacks?
CISPA has failed repeatedly in the legislature, but continued vocal public opposition is needed. Don’t fall for this latest attempt by the NSA to employ the politics of fear and exploit the situation by pushing for even greater digital surveillance rights.
I haven’t read the bill, but the article seems to suggest it only gives private companies immunity for sharing information, not requiring them to share information. Do you know what the actual bill says?
