**In Supreme Court Briefs, Big Business Supports Obamacare Subsidies.** Large corporate lobbying outfits, such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, often file “friend of the court,” or amicus, briefs in Supreme Court cases affecting business and the economy. This time, they haven’t joined the assault on Obamacare. The reason can be inferred from the amicus briefs of more narrowly focused insurance and health-care interests that have filed to support the White House. With a significant portion of its constituency urging the justices to leave Obamacare in place, the Chamber couldn’t very well join the attack. (In response to my inquiry, the Chamber promised to comment on its non-filing but hadn’t done so as of publication). / Among those filing amicus briefs defending health reform are HCA, the American Hospital Association, America’s Health Insurance Plans, the National Alliance of State Health Co-ops, the Catholic Health Association of the United States, the American Cancer Society, and the National Association of Community Health Centers. The insurance and medical industries share the administration’s goal of seeing millions more people covered because that translates into millions more customers seeking the services of carriers, hospitals, and doctors. / Beyond additional customers, health-care businesses argue that they also care about consumer welfare. “We will not mince words,” the American Hospital Association declares in its brief. The plaintiffs’ position, “if accepted, would be a disaster for millions of lower- and middle-income Americans. The ACA’s subsidies have made it possible for more than 9 million men, women, and children to have health coverage—some for the first time in years; some, no doubt, for the first time in their lives. That coverage allows them to go to the doctor when they are sick, and to do so without fear that the resulting bill could leave them in financial distress.” ~Paul Barrett, Insurance Journal~

FFA, the law of unintended consequences keeps on getting better and better, right? Of course the big players like it because they are too big to fail and will be bailed out if everything goes south. Part of the objection the 34 states had was they would be expected to expand Medicaid out of their state budgets after the Federal Government rammed it down their throat. Who, in the states wants to ruin their budget for this bloated terrible law?

Gov Rauner – in his budget speech – was proposing to cut Medicaid as well as other non essential Social Service Programs among many many other items. Seen Madigan squirming in the back round.

He has already proposed Union Membership is optional. Of course this is pissing off the Unions. Most of them cant keep their membership gainfully employed. One of the local IEBs runs at a hugh deficit. To quote one of the members ” Why do we need a TV that’s bigger the 12ft x 12 ft? Another asks the burning question ” Why does the phone clerk at the hall make more then the Journey Men in the field?”

Chicago has already begun to go Anti Union with the fiasco at McCormick Place.

Walker has had a bit of luck in Wisconsin battling the unions. Three elections later, he is still doing the right thing for the state.

Now that he is getting more attention, the leftist media is starting in on him about his lack of 34 credits to graduate from Marquette. So what, he is smarter than all the college degree liberals out there anyway.

If the Supreme Court decides against the plaintiffs, it will essentially be approving a violation of the ACA law. Their decision should not be based on who gets hurt but rather whether the implementation of Obamacare violates the law itself.

Rusty, the arrogant leftists thought they could force all the states to set up their exchanges to implement this disaster so that is why they set it up like they did. Funny thing happened, 34 states said thanks, but no thanks. Do your own exchange Feds. The Healthcare.gov cost about $2 billion to set up, was yet another disaster and then liberals crowed about how well everything was going. Then, to get enrollment, 6 million policies had to be cancelled to force people to get something they didn’t want for a higher premium, higher deductibles, higher out of pocket. Hollywood couldn’t even make this up.

FFA, It is hard to go wrong with Safeco. They have been my leading Personal Lines carrier for many years. They are extremely strong financially since they are owned by Liberty Mutual. They are marketing oriented and are always coming up with ideas to help the agent sell more business. I don’t know how their Home & Auto rates are in Illinois, but I would imagine they are decent. My recommendation to you is get them if you can. Good Contingency contract as well. We are getting a hefty check from them this year.

KY jw, I use the VA and can tell you from first hand experience that it’s horrible.
If you want to see what government run healthcare looks like, look at the “death lists” that the VA maintains, but maintain that they don’t. You end up getting typical government bureaucratic red tape with more and more forms that need to be filled out, knowing that all your requests are going to be denied by a government employee they can’t get rid of because of union protections.
        What a waste.

Seems like KWjw is saying “not all VA facilities are bad” and Dave is saying “the ones I know of are bad.” I don’t like speaking for others, so please correct me if I’m wrong.

While coming at it from different angles, I think you two are actually saying the same thing: there are plenty of VA facilities which are bad (Dave), but there are some out there which aren’t bad (KYjw).

I believe you two agree here, but obviously I could be wrong if I misunderstood what you two were trying to say.

My “actual evidence” is that fact that it takes me no less than 3 months to get an appointment at the VA. They make you an appointment within the week, then call you the day before and put it off another 3 months. I’ve been trying to get in to see a urologist but instead had to pay out of pocket to see a private doctor, since the VA isn’t in a hurry to check out my prostate issues.

And no, I’m not aware of any statistics. Are you?

I apologize for not saying this sooner, Thank You for your service!!

It is an absolute disgrace how we have treated those who sacrifice so much for our country and freedom.

If the issue is a lack of capacity to treat our veterans, where there is plenty in the private marketplace, maybe it is time to combine the 2 into an American Universal Healthcare system. I would include additional benefits and expedited services to our servicemen/women and veterans.

If there is no evidence of “death lists”, then please do not bring them up. There is already too much misinformation in our society and debates. We need to stick to verifiable facts, not fear.

If I were aware of any statistics, I would provide them.

KY, there are many who do not give good care. One of my friends who went to them with a cyst on his neck. They removed it, ran tests and then told him he had Cancer and scheduled him to have lymph nodes removed and start Chemotherapy. My friend’s son said he should get a second opinion before doing that. He went to MD Anderson in Houston (one of the premier Cancer hospitals in the country). They looked a the tests, ran their own and said he didn’t have one Cancer cell in his body. Someone at VA had no clue. I tend to think MD Anderson knows more about diagnosing and treating Cancer than the VA. My friend is much relieved now.

PS Stop lumping with Agent in an attempt to damage my character.

        First of all:

I talk nothing like Agent. I use links, I use a multitude of numbers that are confirmed.

I draw my own conclusions, I don’t quote Fox News, and I don’t use “republican talking points”.

In fact, I have yet to see Agent make any comment any bit like mine, in regards to the overall data used.

He doesn’t like similar things, but for different reasons.

We are not similar Agent and I. I use data, he uses catch phrases.

As I told you before, the way to know if something is me:

Is that I rarely if ever say “Hey, remember when Obummer said this, or Nancy said you would have to pass it to find out what is in it? Har har har!!!”.

No. It is ALWAYS 100% of the time: Disagreements based on numbers.

I really don’t care about these types of things.

If we want to criticize the VA care, let’s attack the numbers instead of the words of the people.

And to everyone, I have numerous times told agent things like this.

For God’s sakes, I find it insulting being lumped into the crowd of all of you, Ron included, who will go after what some idiotic politician said in terms of lipstick on a pig, or that Obama didn’t like America.

You know what I freaking care about?

        The numbers,

        The NUMBERS.

That is all I care about, and I have made that PERFECTLY clear.

While all I see here is agent telling me these phrases I don’t care about, and Ron and Rosenblatt trying to get on the wagon and claim I just make typical political commentary. Of course!

You all are pissing me off.

Knock it off. Wise up. Debate numbers and methodology, and Ron and Rosenblatt, get the hell off Agent’s case and stop essentially saying he is a troll or doesn’t know how to read, or is ignorant. It’s the only reason I go after you two.

You act like Agent is some ignoramus. He is a God D@#%@#ed human being, and while he doesn’t always back up his facts well, and says catch phrases, so does everyone here, including yourselves, so show some @%@#ing respect!!!

Exactly what numbers are going to attack regarding the VA?

I cite numbers with sources all of the time. Then you go and say my methodology is wrong. If all you care about are numbers then you would agree with me when the numbers say that the economy is improving, spending is decreasing, Keynesian principles were applied during President Reagan’s terms (whether or not it was his idea), and Republicans and Democrats have shown little difference in fiscal responsibility (spending and taxation) and actually implementing laws to change social issues.

When I tried debating the numbers and methodology you insulted me and try to put me down. How do you expect someone to react when you are so condescending? Are we to just bow to the almighty bob?

          Ron,

No. NO CLICHE LINES ON RESPECT. We aren’t doing that.

The way you treat agent is poor and he responds in kind. I don’t have to do anything for you to stop calling him an ignoramus and troll. He gets to be passionate on politics all that he wants.

And with your comments about reading comprehension to the other bob,

What in his post merited that reply? Or is it that you believed it was me, and therefore thought you could mouth off like an ass?

Respect doesn’t merit respect. Being a human does.

And when you mouth off, I defend. Biblicaly, it is my right. You should know this Catholic wise.

          Here is how it works:

If you attack, I get to rebuke. If I rebuke and you act like a brat, I go to a priest. If you can’t stop then, then I throw you out.

And I think this is a good measure.

You are obligated from day on of my comments, to treat me well.

If you then try to say I was disrespectful on another issue to try and treat me disrespectfully on all issues, that is the aspect you cannot do biblically.

You can judge and rebuke a sin, but you cannot then tie that sin to future punishment before someone has sinned.

Get the point? Can you extrapolate that with your excellent reading comprehension? Or do I as usual have to make a huge post explaining it due to YOUR lack or reading comprehension to show how it applies to this scenario?

Ron, if I am a dumba$$ from Texas, how did I succeed in business, debt free personally and business wise, earn record contingencies with almost all my carriers except the dumba$$es who couldn’t get their algorithms right to compete in the marketplace.

Meanwhile, you are sitting in your little cubicle spouting off and hoping your boss doesn’t catch you playing on the IJ blog all day.

Agent – you have every right to defend yourself being called names and insult Ron back, but things would work a lot better for you if you just simply answered people’s questions.

If you remember, that was your suggestion to me months ago – I hope you’re willing to take your own advice or else that would be a little hypocritical of you, don’t you think?

            Agent,

There are many successful dumba$$es in the world. Just look at professional athletes and our politicians. Does not say much.

I am also successful. The only debt I carry is a mortgage and I am making a record salary.

My boss knows how much I blog, but does not bug me because I bring in the most premium of any broker in the office.

Back to the topic of this article… I read a piece on The New York Times about the suit before SCOTUS. If I understand what the author was saying, it’s possible there will be no decision if the court decides the plaintiffs have no standing. Also worded as “no dog in that hunt.”

What ever it says in the suit, what ever the SP rules, it just needs to be done. Way too many people lives depend on it.

Personally, I don’t see how the SC could rule in favor of Obama Admin. I cant go into traffic court and get my ticket dismissed because of my intent.

KY, reading an article in the NY Times is a dangerous thing. They are the mouthpiece of the Obama Administration. Take it with a huge grain of salt.

Agent – You dismissing KY jw’s comment solely because he read it in the NY Times is 100% pointless — articles from Fox News say the same thing.

Rosenblatt, KYjw is a female and one of those worker bee CSR’s. Almost everyone on this blog knew that except apparently you. Also, just about everyone but you knew the background of the NY Times and their writers and blatant left wing views. It is no wonder they have been on the verge of bankruptcy for a time now due to falling circulation.

Agent – I agree the NY Times is a left-leaning publication, but you totally missed my point.

The left-leaning NY Times wrote the same details as the right-leaning Fox News.

Did you not read the last 8 words I wrote, or did you just miss the point I was trying to make?

Rosenblatt, would you argue with a fence post? All I did was warn KY about reading anything in the NY Times since it is a liberal rag and you are making a federal case out of it.

Really Ron? You are making a record salary and you are still in the category of paying no Federal Income Tax. I pay more in taxes than you make in salary dufus.

        Agent,

I am very happy where I am in my career and family.

Why do you feel the need to bring others down by bragging about how much more money you make? Aren’t greed and pride 2 of the 7 deadly sins?

You are the most negative, miserable person on this blog. If that is a result of your “success” and all the money you are making, you can keep it!!

Ron, you disparage me at every opportunity so I retaliate and point out why you are wrong. I am glad you are happy up there on the frozen tundra. I am happy where I am and my station in life. I have worked my butt off all my life and will not apologize for being successful and take pride in my business. Sorry if that is your term for being miserable. To me, a Progressive is the most miserable person because they are jealous of Conservatives who made it. I am so greedy, I give a tithe to my church so Obama can’t get hold of it, at least until he rules by executive fiat that contributions to a church are not deductible.
