    Even Allstate has a heart which sort of disproves Liberty Mutual advertising that their claims department only they have a heart to do the right thing!

    As a former Allstate agency owner, this doesn’t surprise me. Allstate claims has always been superior and kudos out to Gary Greene for calling authorities in the first place. Great story; great company!

      Felicia, you are delusional thinking Allstate claims service is superior. They may handle their customers ok, but when they are liable to someone else, it is quite a different story as I have found out with many years experience dealing with them, reporting them to the state insurance dept for unfair claims practices.

      How much did the lady have to pay Allstate back on this? They didn’t just give her the car back with no compensation.

        Agent – The article said she paid an “undisclosed sum.” (could have been an update to the article after you read it.) So, she definitely paid something but we don’t know the amount.
        Craig English – who could/should reimburse the dealer? Sounds like it could be “too bad, so sad” for him other than the positive press he will get for being honest and alerting the authorities. I am not aware of any coverage he could have for making a decision to buy the car without knowing all ownership details first.

          Cl, I knew she had to pay something to them as an undisclosed sum, the interesting question is how much. 1972 dollars are a bit different than today’s dollars.

            I’m guessing they charged her less than what the car is currently worth in the collector’s market but more than they forked over to her when the car was orginally stolen. But the amount was undisclosed for a reason so we may never know. The dealer buying it for only $10,000 was a “steal” so at least he’s not out too much if he had ot forfeit it.
