Millenial – GIMMEE, GIMMEE, GIMMEE. You mean I actually have to work for my living? Just give me my entitlements and I am good to go.

Agent, what you are failing to see is that this happens with every new generation entering the workforce, this was noted about my generation 20 years ago, was noted about the generation the 20 years prior and will be noted by the millenials of the generation after them. Nobody says the young people are hard workers until the young people come out and prove it as they always do in every generation. Only difference today is that everyone gets to see what Millenials talk about and say whereas we didn’t get that curse in previous generations.

Hawkeye, I am afraid I was in the generation prior to yours. I was a young insurance salesman who was grateful for the training I received when starting out. I also knew that if I didn’t produce results and put customers on the books, they would find someone who could. By the way, I have tried two Millenials for sales positions in my agency. Both wanted the benefits and didn’t want to beat the bushes for business. They thought they could just sit behind a desk and the business would come through the front door and hand them their policies. I tried very hard to make them successful, sent them to insurance schools, gave them training and the benefit of my knowledge and they were abject failures within a year. Millenials are more suited to company positions than outside sales.
