Employees are merely cogs in Greenberg’s wheel. A pain in the ass. They’re in the way. Nothing I see from this would instill confidence if I was leadership or the front lines at Chubb or Ace. “Efficiency” was used more than any other word, and that’s just another name for “cost-cutting” and “layoffs”.
As I said last week when this story broke, my ACE rep said he thought the organization would probably be named Chubb. The heads will start rolling soon, especially when they have ACE & Chubb in the same city, consolidating offices and people will be let go. I am sure many employees are putting their feelers out, contacting head hunters about new opportunities.
I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
No, no!
This is going to be a bloodbath for the staff. There may not be a ex-Fireman’s Fund employee left there in three years. There is just too much redundancy now.
Will be interesting to see if Chubb can keep up their A+ claims reputation or it will drop down to Ace’s level.
This aquistion is so hurtful to those many proud people of Chubb who have worked so hard for the company. We wonder why some of the good people were let go and those that should’ve been gone have jobs. It makes no sense to keep someone who doesn’t know the job and let go people who excel at it. I like to help people when needed, but not to do their job to make them look good. One person I know has a hard time following directions. Why would you keep someone like that. Another doesn’t care how the work is done, as long as it’s off of her desk. So that means I have to check everything she does before it goes out. More then once will it be sent back for corrections before it can be sent out. What in the world were these interviewers thinking? The next 6 months will be interesting.

Best of luck!

Greenberg and his henchmen/women are unadulterated liars.
It runs in the genes.
I think The Who said it best.
