I have sold a lot of business over the years after analyzing another agent’s policy and finding no Business Interruption or Extra Expense coverage. When the insured realizes what can happen to him in the event he is shut down for a period of time due to a storm or fire, he is eager to have the coverage. This coverage is not that complicated if you have a worksheet to go by on estimating sales, payroll expense and ongoing expenses. Then, you need to estimate how long it would take to get back in business from a loss. I have seen it be a lifesaver to more than a few accounts over the years.
