Hostile Environment Liability Protection Program Adds Intelligence Panel

October 13, 2015

The Hostile Environment Liability Protection (HELP) program, a risk mitigation, crisis response and insurance program designed to guide and protect operations in hostile or complex environments, has added a new Intelligence Panel.

Led by Beazley Syndicate at Lloyd’s, HELP was launched in January 2015 by a consortium of international risk management groups with three primary components: specialist insurance coverage through a Lloyd’s facility; risk mitigation through a specialist team of legal, risk register, due diligence and security management experts; and a 24-hour emergency response, crisis management and legal response service.

The new Intelligence Panel now provides HELP insureds with additional risk mitigation expertise by providing access to three risk and strategic consultants: G4S Risk Analysis (part of G4S Risk Consulting, Ltd.), Contest Global and Aegis Advisory:

  • G4S Risk Analysis operates in 120 countries, providing intelligence that enables its clients to pre-empt, mitigate and respond quickly to situations, threats and opportunities.
  • Contest Global is a specialist risk and strategic consultancy delivering political, intelligence and security services to governments, companies and private individuals.
  • Aegis Advisory is an intelligence-led advisory firm specializing in accessing insight and timely intelligence to address the strategic and operational needs of its clients.

“Companies and other organizations operating in hostile environments need to understand the specific terrorism and geopolitical risks faced by their staff, clients and operations, whether they are in developed or emerging economies,” said Chris Mackmurdo, founding director of Contest Global. “The HELP Intelligence Panel provides specialized analysis of these threats and is a valuable complement to the existing risk mitigation and crisis guidance services offered by HELP.”

The Intelligence Panel offers three levels of assistance to HELP insureds, from telephone consultation and written risk assessments to tailor-made and proprietary intelligence products with analysis of specific security, political and regulatory environments.

HELP was launched in January 2015 by a consortium of international risk management experts to guide and protect operations in hostile or complex environments, including security, logistics, engineering and construction firms, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), charities or media that deploy personnel to war zones. It is also available to specialist firms for domestic operations. HELP’s Lloyd’s facility has a wide array of coverages specifically designed for organizations operating in hostile environments, whether it be for their entire operations or for a particular contract.
