So a driverless car faced with this decision with two oncoming vehicles. Collide with the minivan carrying 7 kids and possibly killing or severely injuring some or all of them or collide with the Mack truck injuring the one driver of that vehicle but almost assuredly killing the passenger in the driverless vehicle? Moral decision or self-preservation decision? No easy answer here.
If the two oncoming vehicles and the Mack truck were also driverless vehicles, your car could swerve into one of their lanes and their vehicle would take evasive action to avoid getting struck by your car.
Think of it like a flock of birds: if one bird gets too close to another, bird 2 moves away, causing bird 3 to move, etc., until the entire flock has moved a little bit and no birds have actually struck each other. Now replace “bird” with “autonomous vehicle” in that scenario and you have what will happen on our roadways in the future.
If I’m in a driverless car, I want it to focus on protecting me. If the other person is in a driverless car, I want it to focus on protecting them. If the other person is driving their own car, you can be damn sure they’re going to be watching out for themselves.
If agent is in a driverless car, I want to hack the onboard system and give him the old “Thelma and Louise”.
Hey Unfair, if you are in the driverless car, I would just run right over you in my undriverless massive SUV rather than just running off the road putting myself in jeopardy.
Rosenblatt, I have told you before that I am not going to take it from any Progressive poster, particularly Stan, Confused, Fair or anyone of their ilk. It really is too bad that they never have anything intelligent to say, just attack me with no provocation.
LOL, agent. Chances are more likely that you’d be too busy fumbling with your Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Breakfast Sandwich with Sausage and 64oz Big Gulp Diet Coke (with vodka) to get off a clean shot.
But you can always dream. Now, wipe those crumbs off your face and get back to your demagoguery.
Fair, you are not even good at insulting. I hope your boss catches you blogging non stop instead of doing your work and either gives you a reprimand or sends you packing.

Have fun with this one folks.
Spare the other party or spare your owner. Which do you choose car?

Assuming all the other vehicles are driverless and have the same programming.
agreed
…and, assuming you’re not on a two-lane road with a mountain on one side and an abysmal drop-off on the other. (like Pike’s Peak).
Dave, did you know if Hilliary was a Ventriloquist, she would be lying through her teeth?
And that has to do with this article how, Agent?

FPF & Agent – I think swears and/or personal attacks are immature and have no place on this site. Thank you for reading my post. Have a good day.

It’s already documented that you are a misanthrope as well as demagogue, but thanks for the reminder.
I’m going to keep my 911 for a long, long time.
Hi Dave, How about those Cubs? This very well could be the year they break the curse, don’t you agree?
Profits trumps ethics almost every time.
