Anddrocles, I would agree with much of that, particularly if the stats are from the government on employment, growth in the economy, enrollment numbers on Obamacare. In our industry stats from actuaries on Predictive Modeling, Price Optimization are a joke as well.
Since you are against using statistics to price insurance, please enlighten the class as to how you would go about pricing for product when you do not know the cost of said product.
P&C underwriters have few clues about the true price of their products. The day that “production” underwriters entered the scene underwriting became a market share joke.

Confucius, When actuaries came in with their Predictive Modeling Algorithms, Price Optimization schemes, re-tiering, re-scoring, it has had a very negative impact on the market. I wonder how our industry grew and was successful over the past 20 years without these bean counters impersonating insurance people.

Agent,
I guess your way of solving a problem is just to complain about it. Typical.
If these things are so devastating, why do nearly all, if not all, insurance companies use them?
Please name any insurance company that does not use these tools and provide their 5 year change in market share, loss and combined ratios, and in which states they write.
Never mind, that takes actual work and research. I almost forget to whom I was speaking.

Let’s hope “the democrat in the White House” is a janitor and not hilliary.
Jack, did they just interview the crony capitalists like Buffet or Progressive that have gotten favors? Hilliary is more likely to have handcuffs on in 2017.
Jack, let’s hope the A Team lowers the boom on Hilliary sometime between Iowa or New Hampshire. It has now been revealed she had emails above top secret on her server and that she directed subordinates to wipe the designations off the emails. The military is considering lowering the rank of Petraeus after he resigned from the CIA for letting his biographer girlfriend have some notes on sensitive information and apparently, Hilliary has done 100% worse. Is there a separate law for each? If Loretta Lynch doesn’t proceed with an indictment, there will be calls for her impeachment right away. Hand cuffs are on the way.
Actually Agent, in reality, those were changes to that level after the fact.
” The military is considering lowering the rank of Petraeus after he resigned from the CIA for letting his biographer girlfriend have some notes on sensitive information”
That is not a full, accurate representation of what happened. But, I don’t blame you this time, despite your obvious lack of critical thinking ability, because Rush hasn’t told this story, so there is no way you would know.
In reality Petraeus gave highly classified information about a war to his mistress while in a war zone. He then lied about this. Later, under oath he lied stating he had given all his classified information back to the government. He did not do this, so he perjured himself. He then stole highly classified information, including sensitive codes, and kept them in an unsecured area in his house. This is a felony at the federal level.
He should have been dishonorably discharged, and imprisoned for any of these 4+ serious felonies, but his status kept this from happening and he got only a slap on the wrist. If you stray away from the right-wing bullshit you listen to and read all day there are actually pretty interesting articles, based in reality, explaining why the two are nothing alike, and showing what a ridiculously good deal Petraeus got.
But, you are a dolt, so you will ignore this and read up on something that is basically fiction.
Actually, 55% of insurance executives, who as a group tend to lean to the right, is probably an accurate barometer. After tonight’s “debate”, which is more of a name calling brawl, the righties just need to decide which flavor of Democrat they want in the White House. The GOP is imploding – they are a disaster, and there’s no hiding it any longer. I hope to God that Trump or Cruz gets nominated! Heck, even the GOP Senate majority is at risk. The House will never change, because local gerrymandering assures GOP winners in most jurisdictions.
RetiredUW,
Don’t forget voter suppression, too! Remember what Paul Weyrich, father of the conservative movement and co-founder of the Heritage Foundation said back in 1980:
This reply is for Rosenblatt: I never said president, I said Senator. And my point was not whether an entertainer makes a good politician, my point was it was a stolen election. I’ll be happy to provide proof if need be.

Yes, I remember Franken and his stolen election. He is a comedian in the Senate as well. Didn’t Minnesota elect a pro wrestler Ventura as governor several years ago? I think their brains are frozen on the frozen tundra.
James said “We had an actor for president”. Agent replies with “I remember Al Franken.” Come on kid. Use your reading comprehension skills!
Franken was never president, clearly he was talking about Reagan. But anyway, your STOLEN election was certified by many courts, all the way up to the MN Supreme Court.
-Confused
~~~~~~~~~
Preliminary reports on election night, November 4, had Coleman ahead by over 700 votes, but the official results certified on November 18, 2008, had Coleman leading by only 215 votes. As the two candidates were separated by less than 0.5 percent, the Secretary of State of Minnesota Mark Ritchie, authorized an automatic recount stipulated in Minnesota election law. In the recount, ballots and certifying materials were examined by hand, and candidates could file challenges to the legality of ballots or materials for inclusion or exclusion with regard to the recount. On January 5, 2009, the Minnesota State Canvassing Board certified the recounted vote totals, with Franken ahead by 225 votes.
On January 6, 2009, Coleman’s campaign filed an election contest, which led to a trial before a three-judge panel. The trial ended on April 7, when the panel ruled that 351 of 387 disputed absentee ballots were incorrectly rejected and ordered them counted. Counting those ballots raised Franken’s lead to 312 votes. Coleman appealed to the Minnesota Supreme Court on April 20. On April 24, the Minnesota Supreme Court agreed to hear the case and oral arguments were conducted on June 1.
On June 30, 2009, the Minnesota Supreme Court unanimously rejected Coleman’s appeal and said that Franken was entitled to be certified as the winner. Shortly after the court’s decision, Coleman conceded.
Pretty sure James was talking about Ronald Reagan and not Al Franken…unless he meant to write Senator instead of President, but I find that to be an unlikely typo.
Retired, I can see why you are retired with views like that. Are you the father of UW? You sound a lot alike. If you want to analyze what has happened since Obama has been in office, you would find that Republicans have huge majorities in Governorships, State Legislatures in a majority of states, the House & Senate on the federal level. It is Obama & the Democrats who have imploded for the past 7 years. The voters have soundly defeated Progressives in the last two mid terms and the last General Election except for 1 man who somehow kept his incumbent job. He then proceeded to take the country further toward ruin. By the way, the Republicans squabble with each other, but they will unite behind the winner. It shouldn’t be hard to beat Hilliary or Bernie. She is a criminal and he is a quasi Socialist/Communist.
Agent,
Care to tell the class what the voter turnout was in the last 2 general elections? The NATION spoke when they re-hired President Obama. Go BERNIE!!!!
Agent told Rosenblatt last week that midterm elections do not count. I would love to see him tell you that presidential elections do not count now too. That would be hilarious.
Thanks Agent, I notice you reference one of the few reality-based comments to me, instead of the bullshit conspiracy theories and nonsense you actually reply to.
This poll is actually quite disturbing. These people are running pretty major companies and don’t seem to have a grasp on current events in any analytical sense. The electoral college is heavily against Republicans because of the states they have basically abandoned due to Democratic dominance. They need 270 to win, and based on blue/red state divides it starts with Democrats/Republicans at 247/206. That means in “guaranteed” states the Democrats are 91% of the way there.
That means Republicans need to win 75% of the remaining electoral college votes. If you throw in Colorado which has been becoming a blue state they basically have to win the rest.
At this stage looking at this and thinking there is a good chance of a Republican president is almost insane, it is certainly out of touch with reality, but a lot of companies are being driven by people as delusional as Agent, apparently.
I don’t understand how Obama still gets support. His Presidency is a disaster for our country. Spending is out of hand as is borrowing from China, our world image has degraded significantly (evidence by iran grabbing 10 of our military), and our country is sooo divided right now. Democrats & Republicans rarely are working together. Our social classes are at odds. Men vs Women in the workplace. Racial tensions are high. The police are under attack. And terrorism is increasing on OUR land.
I give him credit for trying to fix healthcare but he shouldn’t have “closed the doors and passed it”. That started the divide!
And Hillary is an arrogant crook who feels she can do anything she wants because she is above us all. She will continue the divide between the parties with her arrogance.
Spending is too low due to the stupid decision to agree to the sequestration.
“as is borrowing from China,”
That is just idiotic. How did you come to that conclusion? We have been lending at near 0% interest rates, and at times negative real interest rates. If we can get a 1%+ ROI, which we do almost automatically with any spending due to the multiplier, we come out ahead. We have an easier time lending now than before, and can do it with historically low rates. If debt was a problem we wouldn’t be able to lend so cheaply.
“our world image has degraded significantly (evidence by iran grabbing 10 of our military)”
Moronic to the point of being retarded. They were in Iranian waters, that hasn’t been debated, and Iran gave them right back, largely due to the Obama administration’s talks with them, particularly Kerry’s. If your delusional fantasy were real they would have felt no fear over just keeping them as hostages. You make absolutely no sense, and are literally just mindlessly regurgitating right-wing talking points.
“our country is sooo divided right now”
That is the right-wing’s fault, not Obama’s, see the near decade of racist birtherism, the Republican refusal to do anything in Congress, including routine things like taking up district judges for votes, a record number of filibusters, lies about death panels, and the Republican leadership stating their primary goal is doing everything they can to obstruct Obama and make his presidency a failure, among a list of about a million other things.
“Men vs Women in the workplace”
Yes, Democrats passed a bill ensuring equal pay for men and women, and the right-wingers freaked out (add to above), and police arrest rapists, and the right freaks out for some reason. That’s not Obama’s fault, it is the fault of morons, and only one set of people seem to be going nuts about it, coincidentally.
“closed the doors and passed it”. That started the divide!”
Bull…. After a year of debate in committees, including Republican amendments, they passed the bill because they had overwhelming support in Congress. They Republicans lied from day one about death panels, and a bunch of other nonsense, but somehow that is Obama’s fault–that is a retarded position to take as well.
You ignorant right-wingers want “cooperation” but you spew your hate and nonsense, and the biggest cheers by far in your ….show debates are when Trump calls a person a “Fat Pig,” or when somebody makes a joke about the Clintons staying together after an affair, or when they rip on liberals because the tea party dolts in the audience were stupid enough to fall for yet another fraudulent video.
U/W,
Name calling signifies the loss of an argument.
Spending is exceeding our tax revenue, hence spending is too high. Borrowing from China, if your rational was correct, we could be paying down the loans. Our country is very divided right now and the buck stops at the leader, Obama. There are better choices to deal with issues. Since you didn’t comment on racial tensions being high and our police force being attacked, I guess you agree. Obama did close the doors and sign the passage of Obamacare.
You don’t know me or my beliefs, yet you attack Trump. Draw your own conclusions.
Jack, that is what Progressive trolls do. They can’t win any argument so they start screaming and name calling. I can envision some of them foaming at the mouth and lying in the floor kicking and screaming like a child that doesn’t get their way.
No it doesn’t, it can be a signal of many things; in this case a person who is sick of unintelligent people.
“Spending is exceeding our tax revenue, hence spending is too high.”
100% incorrect, and, again, showing a critical lack of an understanding about even basic economics. In a downtime spending should exceed taxes. Almost 100% of economists agree with this–all serious economists do. You also ignored all the evidence I presented.
“Borrowing from China, if your rational was correct, we could be paying down the loans.”
This is arguably ambiguous, but you don’t seem to have a clue what you are talking about. We cannot “pay down loans,” because we don’t really have loans. We have US Treasury bonds, which we have been paying down. Again, you don’t even have a basic understanding of how the economy, economics, government, or policy works.
“Our country is very divided right now and the buck stops at the leader, Obama.”
Idiotic to say the least. Obama won 2 presidential elections, and Republicans have blocked every single thing he has proposed. They fight scientific facts, like climate change and evolution. But, he hasn’t given them their policy preferences, so it’s his fault. There really isn’t any point debating a lunatic making this retarded argument, so I will move on.
You, like Agent, seem to be completely wrong about every single topic you discuss. You have a knowledge of economics that is so wrong it cannot even really be called “knowledge,” I recommend you turn off Fox, Rush, etc., because they make you dumber, and less informed.
No, I don’t “know” your ideology, nor do I care. You are 99% in all probability a far right-winger, but more importantly wrong about seemingly everything.
Agent, the guy who only replies to those who agree with him gives pointers on debate. No, Agent, I did not “start screaming” or call him names because I couldn’t win an “argument”; I won a debate AND called him names. I did not do it because I “lost” or because I am a whiny progressive, I did it because I hate gleeful ignorance.
Agent, calling a person who is willfully ignorant a name is not a big negative, and in my opinion should be encouraged, retard.
While I know who I’d rather have in the White House, the best predictor historically speaking have been prediction markets and data based approaches like those of Nate Silver.
When people put their money where their mouth is (prediction markets), the wisdom of the crowd (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisdom_of_the_crowd) tends to make it more accurate than talking heads from MSNBC or FoxNews.
Oh, I meant close, as in near election day, not close as in the percentage spread. Looking at places that did prediction polls last presidential cycle, they had good predictive power, but it was also a pretty clear blowout to anybody who followed the polls and electoral college. As far as being close in spread they are actually more accurate when it is a close race–usually–because people will go for a big underdog hoping to gain a large profit. For example, when most markets and models like 538’s showed a 70% probability of victory for Obama a lot of markets showed almost 55/45.
Also, I haven’t looked into the ones you list, but some, like Intrade are bad because a single person can disproportionately influence them. This would be done because they are the main one presented in the media, and was done in both the last 2 presidential elections to swing the lead from a big Democratic one to a much smaller lead. Over a couple days last time one person bought a bunch of shares at Intrade to swing the Romney chances from 41 to 49.
Mr. are you one of those algorithms guys who like to do Predictive Modeling, Price Optimization scheming that has the insurance industry in the doldrums. Their is no computer model that can predict human behavior, sorry. I am afraid that the sorry record of Progressive Socialists are their undoing and the people are tired of it. Let’s take out the trash.
I don’t know what elections you’re watching, but Nate Silver has done an amazing job at predicting past elections. While he’s obviously not right 100% of the time (well, in one election he did predict every state’s voting accurately if I remember correctly), I think there is value to his work since his track record is spot on. Don’t dismiss his work solely because you don’t like it when people use algorithms!
A majority of Americans support gay marriage. A majority of Americans support at least decriminalization of marijuana. A majority of Americans want universal healthcare. A majority of Americans support equal pay for equal work. A majority of Americans do not want to carpet bomb anyone. A majority of Americans believe in science. A majority of Americans understand the Constitution says nothing about America being based in Christianity. A majority of Americans support sick leave. A majority of Americans support education for preschool aged children. A majority of Americans believe anyone who works 40 hours each week should not be impoverished. A majority of Americans support diversity. And guess what, the number of the majority supporting all of this continues to grow. Which one of these subjects above is supported by any of the GOP platform again?
So James, if all of this is true, how come the Progressives have been losing so badly in recent elections? The reason may be their “agenda”. People don’t like it and they keep rejecting it.
and if a democrat is elected president next year, will you stop saying people don’t like the progressive agenda or presidental elections don’t count and only mid-term elections matter for the “voice” of the country?
Agent, you dolt. They haven’t. They have won 16/20 years in the White House if you count the actual votes in the 2000 election where the Supreme Court incorrectly appointed Bush president.
I totally agree. Socialists like UW are all-in for free stuff. I’m not a Republican either, but I can see why Americans are wanting to take out the trash when it comes to the stupidity of the administration. Kerry apologized and said the sailors were rescued by Iran only because he and the Pretender in Chief want the nuclear deal to go through. By the way, the sailors violated the Military code of Justice by apologizing to their captors.
James, cut the bull…. You claim you aren’t a Republican, and then cite some of the biggest bull… right-wing lines out there. They sailor did not violate that law; the whole reason that moronic theory is being floated is so these joke sites like the Daily Caller can then say they asked if charges would be pressed and there was no comment (which there shouldn’t be, because it’s retarded) which makes their idiotic readers think Obama hates the military.
It is transparent crap, and only the dumbest of the dumb fall for it. I am sure you claim to be a “moderate” or “libertarian” but it’s all Republican in reality.
Dear Captain Planet,
I don’t think you know what MAJORITY means, or you mean the majority of some, not all. Your statements are incorrect, you just believe them, like Costanza on Seinfeld. You do not speak for the majority.
Agent,
I don’t work in Predictive Modeling, I just enjoy hearing predictions from sources that tend to be right more often than the cheerleaders who’ve picked the right on Fox News or the left on MSNBC.
While my tone may not be as strident as yours, I think that our opinion of Progressive Socialists is more alike than different. :)
The great thing about Nate Silver is that his politics don’t really matter, just like I don’t care about the party affiliation of my local weatherman. As a forecaster, he is excellent. With him, it’s, “just the facts, Ma’am.”
Mr, you do realize that weathermen are very often wrong on their predictions, don’t you? Most look at their satellite images, algorithms on what it will be like and they can’t get it right for a few days, let alone a week from now. They grin at the camera and then proclaim I told you it was only a 40% chance of rain or snow. Another thing that is off is polls. It all depends on who is getting polled at the time. If you call registered Democratic voters of Obama and asked them what kind of job he has done, it would be very favorable. If you called Republicans or Conservatives and asked them the same question, the numbers would be in the toilet (as they should be).
stop trying to fight everyone kid. his weatherman comment was an analogy regarding how political affiliation does not matter in some scenarios. he was not saying he thinks his weatherman correct 100% of the time. geez.
Agent, weather forecasters have a pretty good record.
I have stated this before, and you have ignored it, because your crew of morons here weren’t the ones saying it, or maybe because you are too dumb to get it, but you have no clue on this subject. The way you use “40% chance of rain” shows a fundamental misunderstanding of basic statistics. That means on days with similar conditions it rained 40% of the time, OR put another way, it most likely WILL NOT rain. Of course to an uninformed person, like yourself, you see that and think it didn’t rain, so they are wrong.
Jut ignore this and copy and paste more lies about Obama though, it’s what you are good at, not thinking or existing in reality.
Mr. Mister, you are correct, but you must not read Agent’s idiotic postings often. You are hitting some of his most hated areas of delusion. He doesn’t believe in math, predictive modeling, forecasting, etc. He states all the time that weatherman cannot predict the weather, even though I have provided data showing they do pretty well. He also likes to repeat over-and-over that the Farmer’s Almanac is better than weather forecasters, even though I have provided data showing they are worse than 50/50, and much worse than a scientific approach.
You should just add in texting or Millenials to make him go nuts.
I think I have it figured out now Mr. The White House and minions in it use Predictive Modeling which tells them that their policies are working and it is well received by the people no matter what the real people say. The Algorithms work for them, just not the American People.
What idiot would seriously upvote this? As if using probability and math is a negative. All this proves is that there are at least 25 people on this site that for all intensive purposes are not in any way qualified to work in the insurance industry, or Agent is repeatedly voting for himself.
Seriously, the entire foundation of the insurance industry is measuring risk through probabilistic and analytical models, i.e. predictive modeling, and then trying to spread out the risk of a pool so that the insuring company can cover losses even during catastrophic times.
“Their is no computer model that can predict human behavior”
There are dozens of models that can predict human behavior. There are also probability-based models that can accurately predict losses from certain behaviors, and who is most susceptible to risks, or being risky, especially over a wide pool. This is only growing, and becoming more accurate with more and more data.
What you are claiming, Agent, is simply false.
You are so lucky you work in a sales and customer service role where you can pass the risk on to somebody else, because you aren’t qualified to hold even the most basic role in any type of insurance that relies on reality or actually making sound business decisions. You give a bad name to the decent, competent agents everywhere.
I cannot even imagine what would happen if your clients saw your posts here and suffered some kind of loss they weren’t covered for. It would be pretty hard to argue that you were not totally incompetent, and incapable of giving sound advice.
So there’s a great possibility that our “choice” for the next 4 years is either going to be Trump or Clinton. That’s like asking would you rather have dog crap or cat crap on your shoes for the next 4 years?
That is exactly what they want you to do. I recommend voting for some obscure 3rd party candidate or voting, just not anyone for President. We need to start sending the message that this poor selection of candidates is not acceptable.
Not really…Ron and I tend to have more in common than not. I didn’t vote for Obama either time but that doesn’t mean I liked the other candidates much better.
I don’t think Obama is the antichrist many seem to. I think (like Bush, believe it or not) that he’s done the best he could with what he has. Doesn’t mean I agree with everything he’s done; far from it. I just accept that there’s honestly nothing I can do about it when I disagree with him anyway. Being angry about something you can’t control is pointless.
louie, I realize you are from Philly and may be a little more liberal, but do you honestly believe that the Progressive agenda was the way to go to solve the vexing problems of this country? I am “ANGRY” about the way this country has been going the past 7+ years. Finally, in 2017, we may see some relief and we can start back with Conservative solutions. It will be better for businesses and citizens, believe me.
“…the way this country has been going the past 7+ years”
The stock market is higher because of expectations of great corporate results and a ton of newbies in the market who are bailing out at this very second because Big Oil is dropping like a lead balloon and taking the market with it.
More people have access to healthcare but they cannot find doctors willing to work with them.
How can unemployment be lower when 98 million Americans are not in the workforce. its lower beause the MaoBama adminstration is no longer counting those who went off unemployment comp and still do not have jobs. Its a managed [read, rigged] figure.
Shirley, read the news and not opnline news snippets. Oh, BTW, the overseas papers have not been bought nor blackmailed by the administration so you can get the unvarnished truth somewhere and its quite embarassing for MaoBama.
Godot????? I don’t mind telling you I am angry at the Progressive Agenda that has basically ruined this once great country in a little more than 7 years. The great uniter has been the great divider instead. If you haven’t noticed it, our society is very angry with so many at each others throat. Look at how the election campaign has been going. It is nasty and getting nastier. We have the economy humming along at 2% growth, 94 million over age 16 out of the work force, entitlements galore and nothing being done to improve the lives of the American People. louie, you may remember when Hilliary was running against the Community Organizer back in 08. Hilliary said – Who would you want answering the phone at 3:00 AM if there were a crises/emergency to deal with? The answer is that neither one of them answered the call on Benghazi. Go see the movie 13 Hours and you will see what I mean.
We all have to determine who will answer the call and do the right thing for the country and get this monumental mess straightened out. We can’t keep doing the same things over and over again and hope for a different result.
Since the Dems and Killary are owned by Wall Street this makes some sense. What makes equal sense is that a majority of P/C insurance execs smoke a lot more weed than we thought. Their reality is elusive.
Androcles, you are correct in your posts. I do think there is a proliferation of weed smokers and many on this blog. It seems to cloud their judgment and what is going on currently.
Androcles, I don’t know where you came from, but I like how you think. A little off subject, but do you follow the NFL and the play offs? Who do you like now that we are down to the conference show downs? I am not going to offer an opinion just yet and want to see who people like.
Androcles, You may be right about the playoffs. We will see. Brady has not had a lot of success beating Denver in Denver in recent years, but perhaps the law of averages will catch up. The Panthers are good, but it is a bit troubling when they only play a half and then start resting on their laurels in the second half. I don’t think they will with Arizona because if they do, Arizona will make them pay. No doubt we have the best 4 in the NFL in the playoffs this year.
Androcles, You were 1-1 on the playoffs. I guess the age old saying that defense wins championships is still pretty true. Denver suffocated the Pats offense for the most part and Von Miller did a number on Brady all day long. Denver’s offense was pedestrian at best and they were lucky to hold the Pats off at the end. Carolina, in my opinion will win the Super Bowl this year because they have the complete package and the QB to pull it off.
Studies show watching MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN has a completely debilitating effect on the brain and eliminates all common sense and turns former moderates into leftists.
Anddrocles, I would agree with much of that, particularly if the stats are from the government on employment, growth in the economy, enrollment numbers on Obamacare. In our industry stats from actuaries on Predictive Modeling, Price Optimization are a joke as well.
Agent,
Since you are against using statistics to price insurance, please enlighten the class as to how you would go about pricing for product when you do not know the cost of said product.
P&C underwriters have few clues about the true price of their products. The day that “production” underwriters entered the scene underwriting became a market share joke.
Confucius, When actuaries came in with their Predictive Modeling Algorithms, Price Optimization schemes, re-tiering, re-scoring, it has had a very negative impact on the market. I wonder how our industry grew and was successful over the past 20 years without these bean counters impersonating insurance people.
Agent,
I guess your way of solving a problem is just to complain about it. Typical.
If these things are so devastating, why do nearly all, if not all, insurance companies use them?
Please name any insurance company that does not use these tools and provide their 5 year change in market share, loss and combined ratios, and in which states they write.
Never mind, that takes actual work and research. I almost forget to whom I was speaking.
Let’s hope “the democrat in the White House” is a janitor and not hilliary.
Jack, did they just interview the crony capitalists like Buffet or Progressive that have gotten favors? Hilliary is more likely to have handcuffs on in 2017.
Comment removed for terms violation
Jack, let’s hope the A Team lowers the boom on Hilliary sometime between Iowa or New Hampshire. It has now been revealed she had emails above top secret on her server and that she directed subordinates to wipe the designations off the emails. The military is considering lowering the rank of Petraeus after he resigned from the CIA for letting his biographer girlfriend have some notes on sensitive information and apparently, Hilliary has done 100% worse. Is there a separate law for each? If Loretta Lynch doesn’t proceed with an indictment, there will be calls for her impeachment right away. Hand cuffs are on the way.
Don’t forget stuffing the ballot boxes, a favorite Dem tool, which is why a comedian is a Senator in MN.
If you will remember, we had an actor for president a while back.
This reply is for Rosenblatt: I never said president, I said Senator. And my point was not whether an entertainer makes a good politician, my point was it was a stolen election. I’ll be happy to provide proof if need be.
Sorry James, you’re correct. My comment of “actor for president” was for Well, James and not just James. My mistake confusing the two posters.
James, I clearly saw your post on Franken that many on the left didn’t. They criticize my reading comprehension – ha, ha, ha.
Yes, I remember Franken and his stolen election. He is a comedian in the Senate as well. Didn’t Minnesota elect a pro wrestler Ventura as governor several years ago? I think their brains are frozen on the frozen tundra.
Retired, I can see why you are retired with views like that. Are you the father of UW? You sound a lot alike. If you want to analyze what has happened since Obama has been in office, you would find that Republicans have huge majorities in Governorships, State Legislatures in a majority of states, the House & Senate on the federal level. It is Obama & the Democrats who have imploded for the past 7 years. The voters have soundly defeated Progressives in the last two mid terms and the last General Election except for 1 man who somehow kept his incumbent job. He then proceeded to take the country further toward ruin. By the way, the Republicans squabble with each other, but they will unite behind the winner. It shouldn’t be hard to beat Hilliary or Bernie. She is a criminal and he is a quasi Socialist/Communist.
Thanks Agent, I notice you reference one of the few reality-based comments to me, instead of the bullshit conspiracy theories and nonsense you actually reply to.
This poll is actually quite disturbing. These people are running pretty major companies and don’t seem to have a grasp on current events in any analytical sense. The electoral college is heavily against Republicans because of the states they have basically abandoned due to Democratic dominance. They need 270 to win, and based on blue/red state divides it starts with Democrats/Republicans at 247/206. That means in “guaranteed” states the Democrats are 91% of the way there.
That means Republicans need to win 75% of the remaining electoral college votes. If you throw in Colorado which has been becoming a blue state they basically have to win the rest.
At this stage looking at this and thinking there is a good chance of a Republican president is almost insane, it is certainly out of touch with reality, but a lot of companies are being driven by people as delusional as Agent, apparently.
I don’t understand how Obama still gets support. His Presidency is a disaster for our country. Spending is out of hand as is borrowing from China, our world image has degraded significantly (evidence by iran grabbing 10 of our military), and our country is sooo divided right now. Democrats & Republicans rarely are working together. Our social classes are at odds. Men vs Women in the workplace. Racial tensions are high. The police are under attack. And terrorism is increasing on OUR land.
I give him credit for trying to fix healthcare but he shouldn’t have “closed the doors and passed it”. That started the divide!
And Hillary is an arrogant crook who feels she can do anything she wants because she is above us all. She will continue the divide between the parties with her arrogance.
U/W,
Name calling signifies the loss of an argument.
Spending is exceeding our tax revenue, hence spending is too high. Borrowing from China, if your rational was correct, we could be paying down the loans. Our country is very divided right now and the buck stops at the leader, Obama. There are better choices to deal with issues. Since you didn’t comment on racial tensions being high and our police force being attacked, I guess you agree. Obama did close the doors and sign the passage of Obamacare.
You don’t know me or my beliefs, yet you attack Trump. Draw your own conclusions.
Jack, that is what Progressive trolls do. They can’t win any argument so they start screaming and name calling. I can envision some of them foaming at the mouth and lying in the floor kicking and screaming like a child that doesn’t get their way.
Mr. are you one of those algorithms guys who like to do Predictive Modeling, Price Optimization scheming that has the insurance industry in the doldrums. Their is no computer model that can predict human behavior, sorry. I am afraid that the sorry record of Progressive Socialists are their undoing and the people are tired of it. Let’s take out the trash.
In other words, a majority of Americans want something for nothing, i.e. universal healthcare? Not true, the polls say otherwise.
So James, if all of this is true, how come the Progressives have been losing so badly in recent elections? The reason may be their “agenda”. People don’t like it and they keep rejecting it.
I totally agree. Socialists like UW are all-in for free stuff. I’m not a Republican either, but I can see why Americans are wanting to take out the trash when it comes to the stupidity of the administration. Kerry apologized and said the sailors were rescued by Iran only because he and the Pretender in Chief want the nuclear deal to go through. By the way, the sailors violated the Military code of Justice by apologizing to their captors.
UW, who do you work for?
Dear Captain Planet,
I don’t think you know what MAJORITY means, or you mean the majority of some, not all. Your statements are incorrect, you just believe them, like Costanza on Seinfeld. You do not speak for the majority.
You keep using that word (majority). I do not think it means what you think it means.
Stop copying me!! (For what it’s worth, this is Rosenblatt posting and I love your reference :)
Agent,
I don’t work in Predictive Modeling, I just enjoy hearing predictions from sources that tend to be right more often than the cheerleaders who’ve picked the right on Fox News or the left on MSNBC.
While my tone may not be as strident as yours, I think that our opinion of Progressive Socialists is more alike than different. :)
The great thing about Nate Silver is that his politics don’t really matter, just like I don’t care about the party affiliation of my local weatherman. As a forecaster, he is excellent. With him, it’s, “just the facts, Ma’am.”
Mr, you do realize that weathermen are very often wrong on their predictions, don’t you? Most look at their satellite images, algorithms on what it will be like and they can’t get it right for a few days, let alone a week from now. They grin at the camera and then proclaim I told you it was only a 40% chance of rain or snow. Another thing that is off is polls. It all depends on who is getting polled at the time. If you call registered Democratic voters of Obama and asked them what kind of job he has done, it would be very favorable. If you called Republicans or Conservatives and asked them the same question, the numbers would be in the toilet (as they should be).
I think I have it figured out now Mr. The White House and minions in it use Predictive Modeling which tells them that their policies are working and it is well received by the people no matter what the real people say. The Algorithms work for them, just not the American People.
louie, I realize you are from Philly and may be a little more liberal, but do you honestly believe that the Progressive agenda was the way to go to solve the vexing problems of this country? I am “ANGRY” about the way this country has been going the past 7+ years. Finally, in 2017, we may see some relief and we can start back with Conservative solutions. It will be better for businesses and citizens, believe me.
I will call you Shirley, Shirley.
The stock market is higher because of expectations of great corporate results and a ton of newbies in the market who are bailing out at this very second because Big Oil is dropping like a lead balloon and taking the market with it.
More people have access to healthcare but they cannot find doctors willing to work with them.
How can unemployment be lower when 98 million Americans are not in the workforce. its lower beause the MaoBama adminstration is no longer counting those who went off unemployment comp and still do not have jobs. Its a managed [read, rigged] figure.
Shirley, read the news and not opnline news snippets. Oh, BTW, the overseas papers have not been bought nor blackmailed by the administration so you can get the unvarnished truth somewhere and its quite embarassing for MaoBama.
Godot????? I don’t mind telling you I am angry at the Progressive Agenda that has basically ruined this once great country in a little more than 7 years. The great uniter has been the great divider instead. If you haven’t noticed it, our society is very angry with so many at each others throat. Look at how the election campaign has been going. It is nasty and getting nastier. We have the economy humming along at 2% growth, 94 million over age 16 out of the work force, entitlements galore and nothing being done to improve the lives of the American People. Yes, I’m just angry.
Why all the question marks behind the name? Not sure who Godot is, I would suspect. I hope your people skills are better in dealing with insureds and employees than they are on this site.
Okay – blast away at me now.
louie, you may remember when Hilliary was running against the Community Organizer back in 08. Hilliary said – Who would you want answering the phone at 3:00 AM if there were a crises/emergency to deal with? The answer is that neither one of them answered the call on Benghazi. Go see the movie 13 Hours and you will see what I mean.
We all have to determine who will answer the call and do the right thing for the country and get this monumental mess straightened out. We can’t keep doing the same things over and over again and hope for a different result.
Since the Dems and Killary are owned by Wall Street this makes some sense. What makes equal sense is that a majority of P/C insurance execs smoke a lot more weed than we thought. Their reality is elusive.
Androcles, you are correct in your posts. I do think there is a proliferation of weed smokers and many on this blog. It seems to cloud their judgment and what is going on currently.
Androcles, I don’t know where you came from, but I like how you think. A little off subject, but do you follow the NFL and the play offs? Who do you like now that we are down to the conference show downs? I am not going to offer an opinion just yet and want to see who people like.
Pats v. Panthers in SBowl. Pats win.
Androcles, You may be right about the playoffs. We will see. Brady has not had a lot of success beating Denver in Denver in recent years, but perhaps the law of averages will catch up. The Panthers are good, but it is a bit troubling when they only play a half and then start resting on their laurels in the second half. I don’t think they will with Arizona because if they do, Arizona will make them pay. No doubt we have the best 4 in the NFL in the playoffs this year.
Androcles, You were 1-1 on the playoffs. I guess the age old saying that defense wins championships is still pretty true. Denver suffocated the Pats offense for the most part and Von Miller did a number on Brady all day long. Denver’s offense was pedestrian at best and they were lucky to hold the Pats off at the end. Carolina, in my opinion will win the Super Bowl this year because they have the complete package and the QB to pull it off.
Best way to get the real news about the US is to read the British newspapers, not the tabloids, whom have not been blackmailing or buying US “journalists” [there’s an oxymoron]. No varnish.
You may be right. The lame street newspapers and networks are so in the tank, we haven’t had objective journalism for a few decades now. The schools are just churning out little Socialists with an agenda and the newspapers and networks put them right on.
