      1. No, they aren’t, get a clue.
      2. That has nothing to do with it. The main thing is that they are mostly urban areas. The larger cities, which tend to have more crime, are mostly mentioned in the report as not even making the list as high crime areas.

      Stay clueless.

UW – You are entitled to disagree with RobCon’s conclusion regarding crime and Democratic leadership. Reasonable people can certainly disagree, but there should be no disagreement on facts. RobCon is correct in stating all of these cities are run by Democrats. The Memphis mayor, Jim Strickland, is officially an Independent, but his political roots are not doubt Democratic. The remaining cities all have Democratic mayors.

For what it’s worth, this is nothing new. I believe 49 of the 50 states on the 2014 list were run by Democratic mayors.

Happyunderwriter, we are talking cities not states. The poverty and single parent households you are referring to continue to be perpetuated by free handouts and entitlements to the sheeple without the offer of programs and solutions that would assist in eradicating these problems. Classic Socialist/Democrat/Communist strategy!

I find it funny that people find generalizations about political parties and crime funny.

Consider the credibility of, and correlations between, liberal, socialist, communist, conservative, green, and libertarian policies applied in sizable cities over an extended period of time and their crime rate TRENDS. That wouldn’t be funny; it would be enlightening. Use many cities and many years. Simplify the type of government in each city. Then we can talk.

I presume the policies in cities whose schools are not performing well, and family structures are decaying, are higher in crime rates, and those rates are trending up. Then tie that to political influence or control, if possible.

Unless you’re in the FBI and not an underwriter as you claim, how could you POSSIBLY know if they’re classified or not, or if she’ll be indicted? I love how you left-wingers call those against Hillary right-wing nutjobs, when the investigation is being led by a Democrat appointee! I guess facts don’t matter to you.

Bill, there is no chance she’s indicted. First, the FBI doesn’t indict people so that bullshit rumor, started by one lifetime maniac who has made a living on false anti-Clinton rumors is idiotic. But, ignoring that she has said numerous times she wants the emails released. They obviously know what is on them and wouldn’t call for that if there was a record of her sending classified information on there.

You are living in a fantasyland and totally ignoring everything relevant in my comment.

NYC, the nation’s largest city with a diverse population, persistent and generational poverty, and an acute affordable housing crisis, did NOT make the list – IT’S ABOUT THE POLICING! New York’s Finest are the nation’s finest; responsive to community concerns about the nature and quality of policing. There are monthly open meetings in EVERY police prescient that are well attended and the police are held accountable. They are out of their cars, on patrol and enforcing the laws. Yes, we have major, horrible incidents but community policing as instigated by Mayor David Dinkins is the key (though Giuliani took credit when the effects started showing up in the statistics.

Elizabeth, most studies show that yes Dinkins did some, but much of the drop in crime in New York was due to the COPS program instituted in the 90’s, which was basically increased federal spending towards local police precincts to increase spending on police. Much of this went with the type of policing you cite, which was arguably easier to institute as a “test” because increased spending gave them more flexibility.

East St Louis borders St Louis and has experienced large cuts in the police force. They probably had spillover. It’s probably a factor of a lot of things; based on articles from around the Ferguson protests they sound like an absolute joke and amateur hour.

      Hi Gerald,

While a large city may have more crimes than a smaller city, the smaller city may have more violent crimes per 1,000 population, meaning it has a higher violent crime rate and a resident’s chance of becoming a victim of crime in the city is higher.

Imagine the example of New York City vs. Oakland, CA. New York City has far more violent crimes than Oakland, but its population is so much higher that its violent crime rate is far lower than Oakland’s.

Which city is more dangerous? Currently, Oakland is much more dangerous for residents from a violent crime perspective than New York City.

Tell people on the south side of Chicago their city is safer than Oakland. They had 13 deaths from guns on Memorial Day with another 50 or so wounded. This is a regular occurrence with Chicago. That gun control works real good there.

The other reason some of the large cities aren’t included is the city is large enough to encompass areas that are relatively safe that waters down the data in the rougher high risk areas.
