So if the guy forks over the $37,000 he received in compensation for the car way back when, does he get the car back? I’s pay $37,000 for a like new 1981 Ferrari.
I hope not! Most likely the carrier had the original owner sign a Limited Power of Attorney that transfers ownership from the client to the carrier. At this point, I’d bet the carrier is the legal entity who owns the car and they’d get to decide what they want to do with the recovered theft.
Sorry Dave, I misread your comment before posting. Clearly you know the car is the carrier’s property now. I’m sorry I didn’t properly parse your post the first time!
+1 for admitting you made a mistake and apologizing for your error :)
and no agent, i’m not going to hit that “like” button because i stand by what i’ve told you all along – i do not vote on this site, neither up nor down
Hi Dave, so I am not even on the blog and am attacked by the troll who lies in wait on every article. I will talk with you instead of the trolls. It would be interesting to see where this car has been for 29 years. Considering its condition, possibly a private collector who may or may not have known it was stolen?
Wait – I’m confused. WHO attacked you on this blog? I don’t see any comment directed to Agent or any insult towards Republicans or Christians or any other group you identify with. Exactly who attacked you here and what did they say??
I’m sorry. I take back my last post, Agent. I did post your name in my reply, but I did not attack you. I hope you stick to your word and you choose not to talk to me. That would mean you won’t blame future voting nonsense on me, and that would be awesome.
Actually, depending on the milage, $37k would appear to be a decent price. A quick search found the 308GTS models from 1979 through 1981 ranging from $46k through $86k.
Wow Bill, I stand corrected. I haven’t paid attention to value of those cars for a while. It wasn’t long ago that you could pick up a decent one for 25k
I’d don’t pay attention to value of those cars either (Google can be a wonderful tool)…probably wouldn’t buy one at $25k either, unless it was to re-sell at $46K+. I’m an American Muscle kind of guy myself.
You don’t want much…do you? Might be easier if you settle for an SS.

IJ removed my link to an ebay item of a 1966 Chevelle SS 396 matchbox car. My joke reply makes no sense with that link removed, hence this explanation.

Turnabout is fair play, confused…

I don’t think a nice 308GTS is worth quite that much today.

Hey Bill – if you see a 1969 Chevelle COPO, can you give me a call please? :)
