I wonder why ALL of the DOJ’s concerns weren’t disclosed to the public? Perhaps it’s because their anti-trust concern is the ONLY true concern with these two mergers?
If the anti-trust concern was the TRUE concern, rather than setting a path toward a single-payer system run by the Fed gummint, the two step solution is:
1. Reduce or eliminate restrictive and inefficient regulations that impede new competition from entering the market place. They cause expensive compliance costs, requiring more lawyers to interpret and set out courses of action to ensure compliance. Res ipsa loquitor!
2. Reduce taxes on health insurers, to encourage formation of new competition. {Disclaimer; that’s not gonna happen with liberals in charge of ANY of the 3 branches of Federal Gummint!} IT wouldn’t hurt to also reduce taxes on for-profit healthcare providers.
Note: Trump previously stated his preference for a single-payer system in his outline of healthcare and insurance reforms. I’m not sure about his current thought process, which changes as often as I change icebergs on which I travel. So I’m holding out hope that someone experienced in insurance matters has spoken to him about that seriously flawed position.
Yogi, Trump may accede to the plan offered by Ryan. In any case, Obamacare must be repealed and replaced by anything other than Single Payer government run Healthcare. Single Payer is Obamacare on steroids.
