If they don’t get those cells out of the teenagers hands, the toll will continue to rise. Social Media is a bad thing and is about as addictive as can be. All education should start and end with warnings about distractions from cell use. Parents should also come down hard on their kids and tell them if they get tickets or have accidents while talking, texting, driving privileges will be lifted indefinitely.

Agent – one way to get cell phones out of the teenagers hands while driving is to remove the driver entirely. For the umpteenth time:

What do you think is safer — autonomous vehicles with no human driver, or kids driving while using their cell phones?

With drivers’ education programs removed from schools, and kids waiting longer to get their permit a “popular” trend these days given all the “not fun” restrictions developed, there are simply more inexperienced older teen drivers on the road. These reasons along with others are pushing the numbers upwards, so the 16 year old driver stats are more applicable to the 17 – 18 year olds now. Cause and Effect. Come on driverless cars!

Dad, driverless cars are years away from practical use. What have you done with yours to make them drive more safely? I had a written contract with my daughters signed by them and us and detailing what the penalties would be if they drove while talking and texting and had a ticket or accident. It worked like a charm and neither had a problem and thankfully no incidents to report.

Nothing says I love you like forcing your children to sign a contract that can be used against them in a court of law.

Are you one of those older teen drivers that are causing so much trouble? Your emotional maturity is definitely in question. I see you are still arguing with fence posts. My contract was strictly between the kids and us and what would happen if they violated them on a car I bought for them. Yes, they love me all the more for looking after them and giving them guidelines and discipline. Obviously, you had none of that growing up.

I think I remember reading somewhere that fence posts are the safest drivers but in my experience it didn’t matter because when I sued my kids, aka lil gate posts, the judge said I didn’t have standing. But what could I do about that? It was windy and I fell over.

That can be his new, new name. Agent/Deplorables/Fence Post. If nothing else, he has a new nickname.

With the amount of insults Agent keeps spewing, I guess I shouldn’t have been too surprised that he ended up insulting himself one of these days. I wonder if he’ll report himself for insulting himself. Regardless, I’m sure he’ll either (1) not post on this topic anymore, (2) tell me I word parse and I was wrong about what he said, or (3) find a new batch of insults to throw my way to deflect from his self-referential attack.

I really do want to know why he changed his name. Someone suggested he was kicked off Insurance Journal, which could be true given the number of insults he posts. I don’t know, I keep asking him but he won’t answer.

And I keep asking him which he feels is safer or more dangerous: fully automated vehicles or drivers who text – since more of the former would reduce the number of the latter – but he’s never answered me either. I’m not holding my breath since apparently I’m trying to discuss things with a self-described fence post!

Planet from another Planet & Confused. If you were driving down a country road and passed a fence post with a Conservative sign on it, you would stop, get out and go argue with it. That is how dumb you both are. Language seems to be a big issue with you.

I see you opted for reply #3: “find a new batch of insults to throw my way to deflect from [your] self-referential attack.” So predictable.

“Language seems to be a big issue with you.”

Nope. I just expect people to say what they mean and mean what they say without having to resort to insults, personal attacks and deflection ad nauseam.

You and UW are the champions of insults. Why did Bob think he could actually reason with you? Read the article on Bad Attitudes and you will see yourself on each one mentioned.

More insults in your reply. That’s the agent I remember! Let’s count on this article alone:

            confused insults = 0
            agent insults = 5

So lowest score wins the “champion of insults” title I guess? I know you love golf, but not everything should be scored that way.
