This is Obama’s fault. It happened on his watch. Don’t blame Mr. Trump!

Yes, blame the guy who has been “killing the coal industry”. Nobody is blaming President-elect Trump, but to put this on President Obama is false. This is the coal industry’s fault, period.

      Was 9/11 President Bush’s fault? I don’t think so.

I disagree, if it wasn’t their fault they were responsible bigly. According to the counter terrorism coordinator, aka terrorism czar, during the Clinton and start of the Bush administrations hr told the Bush administration terrorism, and specifically bin Laden and al Qaeda were his biggest national security concerns, the administration told him it was Iraq. He said this was stunning as they were no threat.

Bush also stopped the pursuit of bin Laden as a priority which the Clinton administration was doing, and haf increased after evidence of al Qaeda being involved in the attack on our Navy ship surfaced right before he left office. Bush was also on one of the longest presidential vacations in history leading up to the attack, and mocked the CIA officials who came to brief him about the “bin Laden determined to attack” briefing, saying they had covered their asses and could go home. The counterterrorism official said this was very rare and a scream for help, Bush mocked them.

    * Persistently cheap natural-gas prices are prompting utilities to shift from coal to natural gas, which emits 50% fewer carbon emissions than coal. And slower-than-expected economic growth in Asia is sapping demand for U.S. coal exports

    * McConnell wants to permanently fix the government funded health care for retired coal miners (read: constituents) all the while working to dismantle the ACA

    * Trump says he will revive the coal industry and get the workers back where they want to be…which is apparently dead and buried by their in-laws at an early age.

    The logic eludes me.

I live in a coal producing county in Western Kentucky. The coal industry has provided my family with excellent educations and careers outside of the coal industry. I have seen black lung victims all my life. However, many of victims are also heavy smokers which complicates the disease. Miners have provided coal for cheap electricity to many regions of the country. They are now being discarded as a drag on the economy. No wonder once solid Democratic voters have turned to another party. I am not a conservative but I do understand their frustration
