I am told by my Contractors that they have great difficulty finding qualified workers who actually want to work. That is why we need the apprenticeship program that our POTUS put forth to train people in the trades and provide the workers. By the way, these are not minimum wage jobs. The lazy basement dwellers need not apply.

Hear hear! Apprenticeship programs, like those offered by local trades unions, community colleges, and even some technical high schools should absolutely be a focus in today’s employment climate and impending deluge of automation.

The world will always need HVAC, Glaziers, Plumbers, Electricians, Pipe-fitters, and so on. I am sure there will eventually be robotics who will aid/replace much of the work done by skilled workers today, but I find it highly unlikely this would be the norm within even the next 40 years.

My church has a worldwide program of helping adolescents get into technical training programs and it has worked marvelously by those that have taken advantage of it.

Unfortunately, today’s male society would rather hang out in a man cave than in a garage or shop. The escapism of video games, Netflix, and the internet as a whole has deadened ambition and a desire to work to get ahead. I fear for the next generation in so many ways.

So Obama created massive unemployment but at the same time there aren’t enough people for jobs. Incompetent.

The contractors I work with, and the numerous I know personally, both as workers and owners of companies, are to a man having no problem finding people. Maybe your clients should pay more, or maybe as usual you are full of it.
