This could be interesting. If Whitman can prove that large companies had (or have) an in with upper management in the Labor Department, there could be a large shake-up on the horizon. If Wells Fargo did effectively quash these early complaints, heads should roll.

Hard to believe the great obama allowed this to go on.

Jack, you can’t get much more worthless than OSHA. We could lop them off the budget and they wouldn’t be missed.

Blanket-slashing budgets in any department exacerbates any problems within that department. OSHA does good things, and getting rid of it would lead to less employee protection and oversight over how workers are treated.

For example, the problems that were allowed to fester were caused by a budget that was too thin, not as a result of departmental overreach.

        Agent,
That is an incredibly ignorant statement. Every day, an average of 13 people lose their lives in the workplace. Without OSHA that number would be in the hundreds per day in a years time! They do more good than you think…

Jack, you do realize that most politicians at the State and Federal level are corrupt: Both Democrats and Republicans. With our election system and the cost to run for office, you can’t win unless you owe somebody for funding you or doing you favors. Hell, most local officials especially in large cities fall into this category. With the current 2 party system, both sides care more about supporting their party’s agenda then doing what’s right for most of the citizens of this country. Missing the days when public officials cared more about the citizens then repaying the lobbyists whom financially supported their campaigns.

        Ohio Agent,

You do certainly speak the truth.
