Godfrey said the settlement was a result of collusion between the plaintiffs and the trust, and “a complete surrender and sellout using new GM’s money.”

What??? GM’s money??? More like tax payer’s money.

Yes, I seem to remember a big bailout of Government Motors.

And yet you never seem to remember they paid back the bailout money PLUS interest no matter how many times you’re told!

I believe you have GM confused with the various banks that repaid the bailout money plus interest. My recollection is the government did NOT recover the full amount provided to GM, let alone interest on top of that.

Yes, a big bailout signed by George W Bush. Without the bailout, the country would have been even worse off during the recession. The government earned billions more back than it paid out during the bailouts of different industries. Sounds like a win/win to me, right?

But, alas, some snarky right-wing talk show host coined the term “Government Motors” and it stuck.

It’s so hard to feel any sympathy for GM. 124 lives lost as they fought every person that complained about their car shutting off as they drove down the road. 3 dealers checked out a relative’s Impala and all said nothing was wrong. At that time they had had so many complaints but would not acknowledge that it was happening. Offered her a “good deal” on a new vehicle.
They deserve to suffer the consequences.

Perplexed, several million “Lemons” rolling down the road. There are Lemon Laws now.
