Given the choice between a cabbie and Uber or Lyft, I’d choose a cabbie all day. Assuming everything else is equal, the cabbie is vetted and the cars are standard.

Given the choice between a cabbie and Uber or Lyft, I’d choose an Uber all day. They arrive on time, they actually care if you get to your destination safely because you rate them, you don’t have to worry about cash or currency exchange, there’s no language barrier because they already know where you’re going, and you know what it’ll cost before you step in the car (they’ll always take the shortest route, unlike cabbies who have an incentive to take the longest route to increase their fare).

I agree the vetting process is severely lacking with Uber and we’ve all heard some horror stories. Although, I like the fact that Uber’s aren’t standard, especially because I choose what kind of car I want to ride in.

      To each their own though!

Yeah, you’re a rare example. The vast majority of my Uber drivers have been bad. Unfamiliar with where they’re driving, small cramped cars, and that language thing really has not been true for me most of the time. As far as the fare, I’ve always paid for my cabs with a card and not cash, so that’s really not an issue either way.

Funny okt0ber, I’ve never run into any of those issues when taking an Uber. Presuming you’re not in the same area as I am, I guess there’s a huge difference in experiences based on location

I usually use Lyft, and would agree with Rosenblatt. I don’t think he’s a rare example. I’ll add to the pluses: I like being able to sit in front with the driver and chat on the way, if I choose. There’s a humanity and connection with many of these folks who are working for themselves, while those conversations (for me) are more rare with cabbies. And of course, Lyft is generally less expensive than a cab.

            Ladies and Gentlemen,

Uber & Lyft are CHEAPER because they exploit the helpless drivers; poor drivers aren’t paid to get to pick you up and go to the next ride after dropping you. Further both these SUPER exploiters charge hefty fees for using their Apps. Even your gentle tips are eaten into with fees.

Then why do drivers drive for these exploiters??? to understand that one should experience joblessness and the life’s inescapable requirements of a father/Mother starving themselves putting food on the family-table(?, provided… prayerfully, these drivers can afford a dining table at home.)

Uber/Lyft is graceless convenience – Gas & Miles on car underpaid and professional hazards of drivers uncovered! They do not pay/cover the driver, incase if anything untoward occurs while driver is going to collect a passenger.

If you wish to appreciate / tip a ride-share driver please make it by cash, that you have no “Question of conscious” being party-to these Uber-Exploitation advocates!

            Stay blessed!
