Hiscox Names Micheals as Chief Underwriting Officer in U.S. as Goodwin Retires

Specialty insurer Hiscox has appointed Eric Micheals as its chief underwriting officer in the U.S.

Micheals replaces Nicole Goodwin, who is retiring. Micheals is based in New York and reports to Ben Walter, chief executive officer for Hiscox in the U.S.

Micheals will lead the underwriting strategy and execution across Hiscox’s portfolio of specialty risk solutions in the U.S., including a professional errors & omissions, general liability, cyber and data security, media liability, management liability, crime, kidnap & ransom, terrorism and commercial property insurance products.

Micheals has been with Hiscox for eight years and was the lead underwriter in establishing Hiscox’s Direct and Partnerships division in the U.S. He later served as senior vice president for the Hiscox Underwriting Center (HUC), where he led a 30-person underwriting team while simultaneously handling the renewal business and managing a number of the firm’s small business accounts. Most recently, Micheals served as senior vice president, head of Emerging Solutions, where he worked with Hiscox’s distribution heads on new distribution and insurance technology.

Prior to joining Hiscox, Micheals was a vice president at American International Group (AIG).
