Schinnerer Launches PL Coverage for Materials Transparency Consultants

March 29, 2018

Underwriting manager Victor O. Schinnerer & Company has launched a dedicated professional liability policy for materials transparency consultants.

Born out of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, materials transparency consultants work with architects and engineers to select building products that contain few, if any, of the substances found on public health or environmental impact lists such as formaldehyde, lead, mercury and hexavalent chromium.

According to Kevin Collins, senior vice president and underwriting manager at Schinnerer, the number of materials transparency consultants has risen considerably over the last few years as more project owners seek LEED certification, with professional liability risks also increasing.

The policy, issued on an admitted basis and offered through A-rated insurer CNA, provides coverage for materials transparency consultants’ professional services and pollution exposures. Policies are available on a multi-year basis in all 50 states.

Victor O. Schinnerer & Company, a subsidiary of The Schinnerer Group, serves more than 46,000 insureds in various specialty industries through independent insurance agents and brokers.
