Professor Says Window to Prevent Dangerous Impacts from Climate Change Closing Fast

Al Gore told us in 2007 that we only had 10 years remaining to deal with climate change.

It’s 2018, and here comes another warning from the professor from Columbia:
“A small shift in average temperature could mean a huge change in the frequency and duration of extremes,”

“Could mean.” Maybe. Or Maybe not. It’s all Settled Science, so shut the hell up.
And so what should we do to save ourselves? Beat up on insurance companies! Yeah!

What if your doctor told you that if you don’t change your diet and exercise more, you will die in less than a year. Then you change your diet as prescribed and started exercising more.
When you see the doctor a year later, would you say he was wrong for predicting your death?

We have been implementing many of the suggestions to minimize climate change, such as recycling, alternative energy sources, improving energy efficiency in cars, appliances, and other equipment, and implementing “greener” building materials and processes. Maybe that is why the doomsday scenarios did not come to fruition. Ever think of that?

Yikes, dude. One of the more rambling, disconnected defenses of Climate Change policy I have seen. Recycling? Green Building materials? These have almost nothing to do with Climate Change. And if all of these efforts were so successful, why do we still get the Doom statements on a near weekly basis?

The Paris Climate Accord has zero enforcement provisions for any country.
So, how serious are you Climate Change believers anyway?

My post was to point out that there are reasons some of the dire predictions made years ago were not realized.

“And if all of these efforts were so successful, why do we still get the Doom statements on a near weekly basis?” They are a reminder that we should not go back.

While I will state that there are more regulations than needed, some have had positive results for the environment. Can we keep those?

Not if they have a net harmful effect on the middle class, and you are claiming they stopped global warming (which you can’t prove)

We didn’t stop global warming, it turns out the ocean is just fine at absorbing heat and has not reached a dangerous threshold any bit close to older time periods which were safe.

All this is, is an attempt of a few people to have a voting bloc and a method to power. That’s all. And you need to start figuring out how to spot that. Spotting a religious hypocrite doesn’t save the world Ron, and you’ve claimed to be religious, all it does is separate the religious folk from God, who then question God more than they question whether there is someone out there trying to buy their vote. I have seen this, and you should too. It is definitely the problem when it comes to kids.

We are not different than Nazis. What I mean by this, is if you lived in WWII, you would have overwhelmingly likely have been a Nazi.

Why is this relevant? It means we need to remove the methods and means to controlling and indoctrinating a youthful population.

Come on Ron, what do you think works better? A religious person like Agent, or someone who waltzes in stating what the left does?

What sells better to the youth? The left or the right? Whichever sells better to the youth, has the best shot at causing a Nazi situation and needs to be kept in check.

We have not reduced the problem or changed the diet. At best we have made rising CO2 stop. CO2 levels are still double what scientists ever said was safe. The type of reduction needed is obviously impossible, and the effects that they claim will happen, the majority say will not be catastrophic, so we don’t need to be causing catastrophic levels of poverty to combat this, which we would need to do. I will emphasize again: Why does no one live in northern Canada. One word: Cold. Man shouldn’t be meddling with global temperatures. It’s ignorant.

If you get to say 300 pounds, and you keep eating the same diet that got you to 300 pounds, you’re not going to have reduced symptoms for heart attack or diabetes. Also, say that after you become 300 pounds they cannot figure out which factor to control to stop your weight gain, and that humans exist in say the 30,000 pound range safely (Jurassic period equivalent when translated to weight).

        This is sheer ignorance.

Your analysis is poor on many levels.

Yeah and sea levels have risen nearly 2cm in that decade. Storms and seasonal extremes are now common across both hemispheres. Was it last year when all of California was burning? Or repeated record high temperatures and monthly averages that consistently beat the previous records by whole degrees? How about those hurricanes over the past decade…any bad ones come to mind? This is just basic physics and chemistry and those companies that try and ignore it….like the GOP and trump, stand to lose a lot of money.

Sea levels rise 2 cm or more when ‘Big Al’ Gore goes wading offshore, at his beachfront villa, then return to its prior level when he comes ashore to dry off.

The lengths of time which have recently been used to measure changes are far too short in terms of global temperature changes. Any observations during a few decades are considered to be random variations, aka noise. This professor is no more than a Global Warming equivalent to Professor Irwin Corey (RIP).

      Wayne,

Well, hmm. There is evidence.. a lot of it, however, the evidence is coming from scientists who get their funding from intriguing places/people/organizations. I do believe man has had an impact on our environment, however, I am not an absolutist who believes the impact is going to end mankind if nothing is done about it. At this point I think both extremes of this argument have gotten pretty silly. “WE ARE GOING TO BURN TO DEATH IN FIRE TORNADOES” vs “NAH EVERYTHING IS GOOD NORMAL JUST FINE”…..I wonder if maybe the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
