Marijuana consumers deserve and demand equal rights and protections under our laws that are currently afforded to the drinkers of far more dangerous and deadly, yet perfectly legal, widely accepted, endlessly advertised and even glorified as an All-American pastime, alcohol.

    Plain and simple!

    Legalize Nationwide!

Fear of Marijuana Legalization Nationwide is unfounded. Not based on any science or fact whatsoever. So please prohibitionists, we beg you to give your scare tactics, “Conspiracy Theories” and “Doomsday Scenarios” over the inevitable Legalization of Marijuana Nationwide a rest. Nobody is buying them anymore these days. Okay?

Furthermore, if all prohibitionists get when they look into that nice, big and shiny, crystal ball of theirs, while wondering about the future of marijuana legalization, is horror, doom, and despair, well then I suggest they return that thing as quickly as possible and reclaim the money they shelled out for it, since it’s obviously defective.

The prohibition of marijuana has not decreased the supply nor the demand for marijuana at all. Not one single iota, and it never will. Just a huge and complete waste of our tax dollars to continue criminalizing citizens for choosing a natural, non-toxic, relatively benign plant proven to be much safer than alcohol.

If prohibitionists are going to take it upon themselves to worry about “saving us all” from ourselves, then they need to start with the drug that causes more death and destruction than every other drug in the world COMBINED, which is alcohol!

Why do prohibitionists feel the continued need to vilify and demonize marijuana when they could more wisely focus their efforts on a real, proven killer, alcohol, which again causes more destruction, violence, and death than all other drugs, COMBINED?

Prohibitionists really should get their priorities straight and/or practice a little live and let live. They’ll live longer, happier, and healthier, with a lot less stress if they refrain from being bent on trying to control others through Draconian Marijuana Laws.

The “War on Marijuana” has been a complete and utter failure. It is the largest component of the broader yet equally unsuccessful “War on Drugs” that has cost our country over a trillion dollars.

Instead of The United States wasting Billions upon Billions more of our tax dollars fighting a never ending “War on Marijuana”, lets generate Billions of dollars, and improve the deficit instead. It’s a no brainer.

The Prohibition of Marijuana has also ruined the lives of many of our loved ones. In numbers greater than any other nation, our loved ones are being sent to jail and are being given permanent criminal records which ruin their chances of employment for the rest of their lives, and for what reason?

Marijuana is much safer to consume than alcohol. Yet do we lock people up for choosing to drink?

      Let’s end this hypocrisy now!

The government should never attempt to legislate morality by creating victim-less marijuana “crimes” because it simply does not work and costs the taxpayers a fortune.

Marijuana Legalization Nationwide is an inevitable reality that’s approaching much sooner than prohibitionists think and there is nothing they can do to stop it!

Legalize Nationwide! Support Each and Every Marijuana Legalization Initiative!

“Marijuana is 114 times safer than drinking alcohol”

“Marijuana may be even safer than previously thought, researchers say”

“Marijuana may be even safer than previously thought, researchers say New study: We should stop fighting marijuana legalization and focus on alcohol and tobacco instead By Christopher Ingraham February 23

Compared with other recreational drugs — including alcohol — marijuana may be even safer than previously thought. And researchers may be systematically underestimating risks associated with alcohol use.

Those are the top-line findings of recent research published in the journal Scientific Reports, a subsidiary of Nature. Researchers sought to quantify the risk of death associated with the use of a variety of commonly used substances. They found that at the level of individual use, alcohol was the deadliest substance, followed by heroin and cocaine.”
        -washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2015/02/23/marijuana-may-be-even-safer-than-previously-thought-researchers-say/

“The report discovered that marijuana is 114 times less deadly than alcohol. Researchers were able to determine this by comparing the lethal doses with the amount of typical use. Through this approach, marijuana had the lowest mortality risk to users out of all the drugs they studied. In fact—because the numbers were crossed with typical daily use—marijuana is the only drug that tested as “low risk.”

They should be viewed as different drugs. One is from a naturally occurring plant and the other is man made. Also, you cannot overdose **simply by smoking** too much marijuana while you can die only from ingesting synthetic weed. It’s like crack vs. cocaine … sure, they’re similar in a few ways, but they’re TOTALLY different.

            Agent,
That would be operating while intoxicated. What Rosenblatt said is dying from the intoxication alone. And, he’s correct, you cannot overdose to the point of death by smoking alone. Poor choices could be made after becoming intoxicated, such as driving, which could lead to death. No one here is arguing against that fact.

Polar, Brian is the official representative of Big Pot. What a load of garbage. By the way, the majority of insurers not writing Pot growers, distributors are smart. Just think of all the claims that will result.

Insurers shouldn’t be worried about “all the claims” so long as they charge the proper premiums. You know – just like carriers try to do with everything else they insure!

The biggest reason carriers aren’t in the market is because it’s still illegal on the Federal level no matter how much they try to stay compliant with state laws.

(Reading comprehension break: I completely agree with you that carriers are smart to be not insuring pot growers or distributors. I am not arguing with you since I totally agree with what you said).

You said in another thread you’d consider suing Big Pot … but who would you actually name in that suit? What businesses are actually part of “Big Pot”??

Astonishing, isn’t it Rosenblatt, that someone who acts like he understands the industry suggests carriers aren’t in the business of taking risks on exposure with the potential to generate claims? I mean, it’s quid pro quo – insured promises to pay premiums in exchange for carrier’s promise to indemnify. It is the very first verse in the first chapter of Insurance 101. As Agent has said:

Taking risks that are measurable and tolerable is VERY DIFFERENT from ‘insuring’ near certain events of brain damage with long-term use, and unusually high frequencies of auto accidents, and personal injury through other types of accidents. One is partaken by risk-reward seeking enterprises, and the other is partaken by the foolish.

I agree, but that’s not what Agent was talking about with marijuana insurance.

Oh please…can’t we ever just discuss without political issues rearing their ugly heads/ Polarbear…stoppit! No one is trying to reduce your voices.
As I see it, we have a living example of trying to legislate morality with Prohibition. They saw the dangers of alcohol way back then and attempted to prohibit which birthed the gangsters with Tommy guns. After repeal, we still have the responsible social drinkers as well as the irresponsible who drive after drinking and kill innocents. We still will have the issue of underage users and who can quantify how much worse, if any, MJ is than alcohol on the adolescent brain? We still will have the DUI idiots. What we won’t have is prisons full in one state and empty in others for possession for personal use. We also know that there are real health benefits from MJ use for pain management, seizure control, etc., just like there are health benefits to moderate alcohol use.
So what’s the problem? The REAL issue is why we need to use these mood affectors in the first place. And that goes for tobacco, heroin, cocaine, etc., etc. The list is way too long.

Polar…nothing has to be or not to be political. I am not trying to silence you (though Lord knows, I do wish it sometimes…come on…lighten up). The crux of the issue is not really political…it is practical. Prohibition did not and will not work. Didn’t then, isn’t doing it now. MJ is possibly the least of our worries considering the ffentanyl deaths, the heroin deaths, etc. It is only as vicious or as benign as alcohol is…that’s what I am saying…nothing more or nothing less. To incarcerate for user possession is a waste of our tax dollars…a subject that should be near and dear to your conservative heart (NO insult intended). It is near and dear to my liberal heart as well…just a stupid, stupid waste. Prisons ARE full of casual users and occasional sellers. Instead of the fibbies wasting time on this very, very low hanging fruit, let them work on the domestic and foreign terrorists and the gangs that deal violence on our streets and threaten us all.
