The attorneys get money, and a lot of it. The class members get no money whatsoever. Well, fancy that! We always knew that injured or aggrieved parties were tangential at best in the lawyers’ schemes, and now they’ve made it official. It’s perfect. They can simply manipulate the power of the state to transfer wealth to themselves without having to bother with numerous, superfluous clients. It’s a shakedown. Class actions were never about the aggrieved so now they’ve dispensed with the aggrieved altogether. They have shown their true colours.
So Ginsburg and Breyer scoff once again at the plebes. It’s not like their friends the ambulance chasers don’t need the money. Another full-employment scam by the trial lawyers, uh, er, democrats. But then I repeat myself.
Kudos to Kavanaugh and Alito for not supporting cy pres settlements, even though there have only been 18 cases over the past 20 years. But to those arguing the original decision was not beneficial to the ‘little people’ here, let’s quickly look at the numbers:
$5,000,000 <–settlement
% 129,000,000 <– class members
============
$0.0388 award per class member
I understand people live paycheck to paycheck, and every penny counts, but we're talking less than 4 cents per person here. You really can't buy anything for a nickel anymore. But to reiterate, I agree with Kavanaugh and Alito that cy pres settlements are not beneficial to the class members and should be rarely used.
Google sure is having a lot of problems lately. Just today, thousands of workers all over the world staged a walkout due to their treatment on harassment etc. Couldn’t happen to nicer guys.
Not her fault completely. The others share in the blame. Besides, she was prob sleeping at the time of the decision. Now, were the recent threats by mailed bomb parts ALL Trumps’ fault? …. See how that works (i.e. pointing out hypocrisy of the Left) ?
I would like to know what this statement added to the story:
“Kavanaugh, who won Senate confirmation this month despite allegations he committed sexual assault decades ago, said he saw clear privacy implications.”
This seems like a jab and had nothing at all to do with the story. Stick to the storyline please.
Good call. I love how the media embraced the crazy Avenatti client’s allegations against Kavanugh that he was at gang rape parties at least 10 times, and the media expressed no skepticism at all. But then when allegations surfaced against Robert Mueller this week, they were immediately – and accurately – called “slander”.
Not sure what you are watching, but I literally didn’t see any reports NOT expressing skepticism. Perhaps you only heard there was no skepticism in the media because that’s what Rush and Hannity were saying. This is your brain on Faux Newz.
Reading comprehension, man! You said no skepticism to Kavanaugh at rape parties. I am saying every media outlet I heard or read remarked on their skepticism of such claims. I don’t know of any media outlets who didn’t indicate their skepticism.
As usual, Rosenblatt is off point completely. The link you sent me is to articles advising Kavanaugh to sue Ford for slander. These are OPINION pieces, not news
And I asked for evidence of the MEDIA claiming the AVENATTI claims were slander, in the same way the MEDIA stated the Mueller allegations were “slander”.
. . . it’s easy to be a lefty. Just ignore truth and logic.
Opinion pieces no longer count as media … suuuuurrrrre they don’t. I don’t know why I’m bothering to reply anyway … we had a whole thread here deleted where you kept trying to claim you were saying Avenatti was the one making the allegations and Ford (his client), even you literally wrote “Avenatti’s client”.
My apologies, Craig. You are right that Avenatti didn’t represent Ford. Please excuse my error and realize no human is perfect and people make mistakes … some adults can own up to them, some cannot.

PS Craig … not every link on that google result page was an editorial, but I don’t know why I expected you to actually click any of those results and read them when you could just make up alternative facts that suit your current argument.
So now you think they should continue to investigate something that, even if they could prove it was 100% true, wouldn’t actually change who sits on the bench? Why are you arguing for a fiscally irresponsible government??
Rosenblatt, it has to be Agent or Bob. They are the grossest people and have ruined this site and yet have never once been removed. There is no way someone like you should be edited while they are allowed to roam freely.
Did you notice that the “investigation” into Ford’s allegations died, along with those of the other accusers?
I am told by lefties that the FBI investigation was too short, didn’t include enough people, etc.
Well then, why don’t a few lefties hire a few private investigators to finish the job? Go talk to everyone, including those sources the FBI missed.
You know why lefties don’t do this?
Because those women accusers served their purpose and now that Kavanaugh is on the Supreme Court, nobody cares about them anymore. The women were tools. And they failed. So goodbye ladies! Move along now.
They all get their show prep from the same source. Doesn’t matter if you read Breitbart, listen to Rush, or watch Hannity. Same talking points. And, you echo them well, Craig.
Did you read the Washington Post’s article discussing the study 3 scholars did where they found that the fake news is the worst with Fox news and not even Facebook yet? Or are you just receiving exactly what the president is saying about fake news?
The way he talks about the media is disgusting. The media is the friend of the American people because they will dig further into things then you or I and most sites get fact checked for accuracy (excluding Fox News)
Andrew – if you remove this comment too, I would like to formally submit a complaint against Craig’s post where he called women tools. Thanks.
Craig – even if evidence is found, it will have no repercussions as he’ll still be a Supreme Court Judge. I honestly doubt you’re advocating for our government to be more inefficient in governing and more fiscally irresponsible than they already are.
I said the women accusing Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct were being used as “tools” by Democrats. I framed it to say that is how they are treated by Democrats, now that Kavanaugh is on the court and they have no political purpose any longer. As revealed by how quickly the whole thing disappeared once he was confirmed.

Totally agree Vox.
Hopefully the Court will agree with us too. RBG needs to retire already.
Ruth Buzzi Ginsberg promised to retire and move to New Zealand. Hey, we will pay for the one way ticket.
Yeah, because Supreme Court Justices don’t make any money, she’ll certainly be like Texas and looking for a handout.

Not sure why you replied to me.
It seems to me that he cued off your post about Goo–gull losing the case. He added more trouble facing Goo–gull. Follow that?
1. News about a lawsuit involving Google.
2. Comment about other Google problems.
3. Irrelevant deflection to attack Trump.
That is what is called “not on point”. But hey, it’s leftist, so let’s go with it
The same harassment you cheer.
I agree this sucks but really its all RGB’s fault?. Give me a break. Nasty politics as per usual. That’s really sad.

Got to love “journalism” in 2018.

Cite one, single source with a link that cited the Avenatti claims as “slander”. You can’t.
And keep your ad hominem attacks about my brain to aim at Andrew.

*and not Ford (his client),
Now we find the problem. Ford was NOT the client of Avenatti. Avenatti’s client was another woman.
Try keeping up, Rosenblatt.

Wow, Craig – I heard the EXACT SAME THING on Rush yesterday, too. You are certainly a pro at reciting the conservative talking points.
Wow. Captain Empty Suit. The truth actually spreads! Even when you hear it sometimes.
Did Rush say the sun rises in the East? I never listen to him, and I wouldn’t want to repeat the truth if it also came out of his mouth.

Right Craig, you called women tools. Thanks for posting that again in case anyone didn’t read it the first time.
Let me know when the Democrats take the allegations of Ford seriously and continue the investigation.
Until and if that happens, she was simply used by Democrats for political purposes. Period.
