As I assumed, US farmers were eventually supported. The signing of this bill by Trump will end Liberals’ ability to criticize Republicans and Trump for abandoning the farmers.

Farmers don’t want subsidies, they want the trade war President Trump started to end so they can work for their money.

Well Ron, if you were losing $30 a head on your product and you were staring at next spring wondering how you were going to pay for your inputs just so you could lose your a@## at harvest, would you wait? Oh wait, Trump just gave me a penny a bushel to help me out? Hang on Edith, its going to be a high time at the old farmstead tonight!

Ron, farmers have been heavily subsidized for years. Who else gets paid by the government not to utilize their land? That’s just a small part of the many benefits farmers receive from the government. I understand why some of them are there and have many farmers in my family and as friends.

I am speaking about the small farmer who does not traditionally get the subsidies who has been harmed by the trade war, not the large commercial farms who can afford to employ lobbyists.

I know one farmer with less than 300 acres that’s getting paid to not grow wheat. That’s not a large farm, at least not in Texas.

What is the reasoning behind this? Would he/she rather work than be paid to not farm?

Many more people dislike your perspective than appreciate it. Consider that to be constructive criticism from which you should learn a valuable lesson.

interesting…whenever you get downvotes you blame it on BOTs trying to censor conservative voices, or people changing their IP addresses (despite there being NO EVIDENCE of it). Maybe take it as constructive criticism instead?

Although most farmers, in their independent spirit, don’t like to admit it, almost everything we do is impacted or dependent on, in some way, by the federal govt. If the neighbor is getting subsidies then you have to take them or he’ll outbid you on land rental rates. It’s not really a very good, or fair, subsidy system but it’s what we have; (don’t forget most of the budget is for food stamps).

The whole trade/intellectual property issue is going to take Trump 2 terms to unravel and fix so we need he or Pence in the next election to continue the correction. But rest assured, it is making for some sleepless nights on the farm.

Trump obviously lies about the facts(usually easy to check) but does not lie about what he is going to do.
