Here we go again, the nanny state trying to ruin the national pastime. Is nothing sacred to these safety advocates? If you don’t like real baseball , then go home and watch it on TV.
I detest these screens they hang. It makes it hard to tell what kind of pitch you’re watching, especially if it’s a slider. Senators, bug off!

Vox I totally agree. I don’t see how this is a federal issue at all.

People have died. The nets will prevent that.

        It is pretty simple.

When you go to a MLB game and sit in the foul ball section, behind Homeplate and in the left and right field base line there are warnings everywhere to watch for flying balls. Most people know when sitting in these sections there is a risk a ball may come into the stands and strike them. People need to take some responsibility for their own safety. If you don’t want to take the risk don’t go to the game or at least pick a seat to purchase that has a lessor risk of a ball coming into the stands……..

MLB is doing well enough on ruining the game of baseball, it doesn’t need the federal government’s help.

The players already ruined it during the steroid era – game hasn’t been the same since.

A net doesn’t change the game. At most it marginally changes viewing it. It’s sooo bad with a net, which is why nobody sits behind home plate, right? Unless you’re right behind home you can’t tell what kind of pitch is thrown anyways, so that’s nonsense. Even managers have said they usually can’t really tell from the dugout. It makes no sense not to have the nets, and the only real argument against them it that old guys who oppose all change don’t want it.

Amen Duke and Vox! Is this a federal shakedown?
