Of course, it’s not about “climate change” as it’s all about “human control” and pushing for more socialism. If anyone has not figured this out yet, leftists are frauds.

Congratulations to Insurance Journal for including a column that can help lead to real solutions.

One poll I saw said that over 75% of Americans believe Climate Change is “real” and needed to be addressed. The same poll asked if people would spend $10. a month to help mitigate Climate Change, and 70% said no. (40% said they wouldn’t spend a dollar.)

In a democracy, you must convince people to support your cause. Liberals not only have failed, they don’t believe it either.

In light of that reality, the ONLY solution is to forget CO2 reduction that costs people money or a lower standard of living. According to many, many climate scientists, we could plant millions and millions of trees worldwide to rapidly offset the carbon production in China and India, mitigating about 2/3 of the impact. (Where is the Foundation to support weekend tree planting world wide?)

The rest could be solved with clean nuclear power, as in France (75%) and Sweden (40%)., without any reduction in the Standard of Living for real people.

All else is fantasy. Wind is a joke and solar can’t scale.

Except we’re not in a democracy anymore, we’ve been in an oligarchy for quite some time. As of right now the richest control this country, the richest have the responsibility to fix the planet, not the poorest. You’re trying to put the impetus for change on a country where the vast majority are making less than $40,000 a year. Of course they don’t want to pay $10 a month, while people who are opposing fighting climate change bring in billions. It’s common sense, but I guess we can’t expect that from you.

Again, you make lofty claims about what can solve climate change, but you are not an environmental scientist. Until recently, you completely denied that climate change was a thing at all. Members of the right are not people who can be trusted to reach a solution here.

Another clown response. The people who claim planting trees can solve the problem are CLIMATE SCIENTISTS. And no, I am not “confused”; I do know how fast trees grow and some grow very fast, reaching 30 or 40 feet in 5 years or so depending on the species.

i still think you are confused

you said there are SOME trees which grow that fast but in reality it is ONE SINGLE tree.

you also implied it grows over 30 to 40 feet after the first 5 years but the ONE tree that grows 5 to 8 feet per year ONLY grows to 30 or 40 feet. that ONE tree also has a VERY SHORT LIFESPAN which is totally not want you want when talking about long term solutions of reduction in CO2

your post made it seem like there are MULTIPLE tree types that grow 5-8 feet a year and they CONTINUE to grow after reaching 30-40 feet.

There is not one single type of tree that can grow 5 to 8 feet a year and continues to grow over 40 feet after 5 years.

          disagree?

          name the species

Perfectly put. He’s whined about his solution and asked for another solution, here’s a solution: Stop letting people who directly or indirectly benefit from relaxed environmental policies make environmental policy decisions. Maybe remove the ability of our politicians to accept money from industries such as oil, coal and other environmentally dangerous industries if they’re in a position to affect environmental policy. How about that, for one?

You are picking fly poop out of the pepper.

The real news is that climate scientists found that trees not only store CO2 while living, they take most it underground during decomposition after the tree dies.

Meaning the reduced CO2 in the atmosphere lasts for decades.
So who cares how long it takes, let’s get to planting now.

You were just caught drawing rash conclusions that were incorrect. Then you refused to admit to being wrong, but we’re supposed to believe you now? I think it’s more likely that you’re just spreading more conclusions you’ve drawn that aren’t actually based in reality. Meaning why don’t you step back and let people who actually know what they’re talking about lead climate change, instead of insisting that a bunch of actual shills for big oil continue to run the show?

i would rather the excrement be removed first just like the misinformation you posted that i picked out.

i mean, duh, trees are good for reducing CO2.

anyone who took earth science in knows this.

that was not what we were debating.

            but i understand …

you do not know of a second tree type that can reach 30 or 40 feet in 5 years and does not have a very short lifespan.

Once again, the only possible solution is the one Craig gets to decide, because he’s made the decision that he’s right and everyone else is wrong, regardless of what the facts say. Which is why when he’s repeatedly pointed out as being wrong or spreading misinformation, he just pivots into a different argument. There’s nothing wrong with planting trees, planting trees is great. But people like Craig should not be saying they have the one answer to fixing the climate. They shouldn’t even be participating. They just want to control the flow of information and the narrative that takes place in any situation. Your time is over, thankfully.

Don’t misunderstand my comment. The “evidence” of doom is limited and the hysterical response of the Left compared to the science iis the reason nothing is happening. Parading high school girls in front of the U.N. to shame us is wildly counterproductive (not to mention having 30 year old former bartenders be your standard bearer).

The science is FAR more uncertain and complicated than Lefties pretend, and when you keep crying “Wolf” at any weather event, you deserve to be ignored. We are NOT going to die if we do nothing.

My point is to get real and stop using Climate Change as just another money and power grab for Democrats. I mean, if you are serious about the science. And as this article points out, most Lefties are not serious about the science.

The uncertainty factor on the NOAA estimates for temperatures definitely meet uncertain and complicated. You try to focus on such absurdity.

No one was talking about NOAA estimates. You latch onto one thing that you want to argue and try to insert it into every argument. No one is talking about NOAA estimates. “The science” of it is a lot more than NOAA estimates.

Additionally, until members of the right stop accepting money from industries that directly benefit from downplaying the ramifications of climate change, such as fracking, oil, coal, then they will not be trustworthy.

        Craig,
You tend to run to other conclusions when you have limited evidence on topics with which you agree. Why is that?

I asked a simple question – did you see the methane in Siberia, yes or no? Tens of thousands of years of permafrost thawing may very well be related to a weather events. Those types of weather events that keep occurring year after year after year. Which, is the definition of climate:

But, I’m choosing to be a good steward of the planet anyhow because I’m not self-centered enough to ignore the fact there will be life in many other forms after us. I just want it to have a place to reside and flourish once we’re all gone. If one believes in God, in any sense, he/she should stop poisoning our garden.

I don’t think poor people in Africa or China should have to suffer miserable lives in the name of Saving the Planet. And neither should you. They should be able to consume as much energy as we do to give themselves similar lifestyles.

So let’s give everyone a great life and stop pretending people have to suffer to stop “poisoning the garden”. They don’t, no matter what Democrats tell us. Clean nuclear, millions of trees, and then wait until science finds better, cleaner sources of energy in the next few decades.

Or just keep demanding higher taxes and energy prices on the middle class and the poor and get nowhere. Because as the article points out, lefties don’t want to walk the walk.

This post is almost altruistic, if not that you’re clearly just trying to place blame of the left for the actions of the right. You don’t care about poor people in Africa or China, to pretend otherwise is to lie, Craig. You don’t think anyone deserves what America has nor do you care about saving the planet. You want status quo, you want business as usual, and you want the right to continue with it’s current power because that keeps the rich rich and the poor in their place.

You don’t have solutions, or even anything interesting to add to the conversation. You want to try and position the right to come out of any situation smelling of roses, which they clearly do not. Your views and desires are very transparent. You want power, and you want to be right. The truth is that the data, the actual facts are against you in almsot every way. You’ve been proven wrong already on this very article and yet you continue to act as if you have any sort of high ground and it is absurd. We should continue with the cleaner sources we have now, further reducing our addiction to fossil fuels, and yes, explore the scientific solutions of the future.

This may require higher taxes and/or energy prices. It doesn’t have to be on the middle class (whatever is left of it thanks to 30+ years of Reaganism which has created the largest wealth gap in the history of the world right here in our own country). But we’re just supposed to believe you at your word that you know the math? You know everything, I’m sure you would have us believe, but in reality that’s not the case. You’d like to think you know everything, but as with the above issue (see also 26/27 of the last mass murderer’s being fatherless, air conditioning being the largest source of CO2 production, countless other times) you are often wrong and just can’t admit it. Fun with Numbers: There are roughly 150 million workers in America. That means the 1% are 1.5 million people.

The average income for a 1%er is 1.2 million, per CNBC. Most rich people pay property, sales, state, Federal and capital gains taxes and depending on the state they live in, it amounts for most to about 50% of income.

That leaves about $600,000. for each 1%er. $600,000. times 1.5 million people is about $1 trillion dollars. But if you tax ALL of a 1%er’s income, they won’t work in the future. Why bother?

So, let’s say Commissar Warren takes half of that. That would be $500 billion. (And again, I’m assuming the rich don’t move to Monaco or Costa Rica or somewhere else in the world and run their businesses there in the future, a BIG assumption.)

How much is Warren’s Medicare for All? According to most estimates, the government would need an additional $3 trillion a year in funding. OOPS!

Result: no more rich people in America to pay for it after a few years. And no money for Day Care for All, Free College, reparations, Free rent for the poor, etc. etc. etc.

Right. The 1% can pay for it. The 1% can pay for it. The 1% can pay for it. (And people wonder why Warren won’t answer the question about the math. Hmmmm.)

You almost had something, but you’re a sucker if you think the 1% are paying 50% of their income in taxes. Remember the panama papers? The richest 1% are also the majority of the tax dodgers. Note even our president refuses to give up his tax returns, and you’ve never wondered why? Or more likely you’re just furthering the agenda to hide it.

Your math falls apart on the third line. So my whole point about how you start things with an incorrect assumption and draw conclusions, how you’re wrong but then deny it? Yeah, that. Again. So now you’re going to continue to deny you’re wrong, or just stop responding. Because that’s what cowards do when it’s pointed out that they’re wrong.

Craig – are you really arguing that “the top 1%” refers simply to 1% of the workforce and not the people who control the top 1% of the money? Was that a typo? I’ve NEVER heard “the 1%” as anything besides the wealthiest people in the country (which is what i thought was being discussed – you saying that taxing the wealthiest 1% would generate less money than taxing the middle class more).

Like last time, I’m asking for clarification purposes; not attacking or insulting.

My apologies Craig. I got stuck on your “That means the 1% are 1.5 million people” line before reading the entire post. I think you can see how i thought you were saying the 1% accounts for 1% of the workforce though. That line was oddly worded.

I think you are all missing the point of the article. It simply says “Let them eat cake” or “Do as I say not as I do” or “Feel the Bern 2020”.

It proves the point that that crowd simply wants to feel good about telling you they “care about the earth”. They don’t really have any intentions to pony up to pay for it. The proof is in $….or should i say lack of $.

One could certainly draw that conclusion, if they completely ignore things like.. reality.

As stated before, this country has a severe income disparity problem. Why should the poorest majority pay to fix the planet when the richest minority are the ones directly benefiting from inaction? The richest are the ones who have thrived because of industries that pollute and harm the environment, maybe they’re the ones who should pay to fix it. Additionally, there’s no reason for billionaires to exist and tell us we can’t have things like clean water so that they can keep their billions. No thanks.

Jon- You really can’t figure out the cost associated with “going green” are simply going to be passed down to the people purchasing the goods and services. The same applies to the McDonalds paying employees $15 an hour. You just can’t grasp the concept can you? You think magically the corporations are simply going to absorb the additional cost, don’t you?

You don’t even realize your taxes are going to go up, or you don’t care because you don’t ever plan to make enough money to worry about how much the government is getting. You plan to wait on it all to be free don’t you. Sad…really sad.

I don’t believe in magic. I believe we could start actually taxing corporations along with the rich properly, that would do it pretty easily. Clearly the economy is imbalanced, cost of everything has gone up without wages escalating to match it. The only answer is to remove the ability of the 1% to hoard wealth in the way they currently have. It would solve things pretty simply, actually.

You’d like to pretend there’s no option but taxing the poor, but it’s actually quite simple to solve. Which is why there are politicians on the left pushing for this very thing right now. Nothing is free, but a government is supposed to exist to serve the people, not vice versa. It’s sad that they’ve convinced some members of it’s society (you and your ilk) that the reverse is the case.

            1. How much of my money are you entitled to?
            2. Show me where I said tax the poor? You can’t.
            3. I said the cost of goods and services will go up, which you just complained about.
            4. If I have to work more to pay the taxes you just required me to pay, how is that ” government serving the people” ?
            5. What’s sad is your mental capacity to grasp basic economics. But then again you are a liberal.

Being in the 3% still means you’re poor, sorry bud. We’re literally as a country a playground for billionaires right now. Part of how they keep that hustle going is convincing rubes like you that you’re not the poor. You’re just as poor in their eyes compared to their billions, and you’re a sucker if you think otherwise LOL

The US Middle class is not richer than 99% of the rest of the world, what do you base that on? Show me data to back up your bogus statement. Yeah, that’s what I thought.

What question exactly? You based your questions on a false conclusion, so why don’t you ask something that’s not based on misinformation and we’ll talk.

Perplexed, what exactly do you want me to prove? Unlike you right-wing cowards, I’m happy to provide evidence for my arguments at any time. The issue is, there’s no evidence on your end because your arguments are based on lies and misinformation. I’m happy to acquiesce if you actually want to know anything, but I’m guessing you’d rather stick your fingers in your ears and watch fox news.

Jon – You keep talking about economic instability and “reality” as counters to actual reality this article brings to light. The vast majority of Americans are not poor. Do you really think someone making $30-$50k a year can’t afford $1-$10 a month to support a cause they believe in? If so, you are the one out of touch with reality, not the 1%.

Confused – Answer Jack’s question (#1). Not wanting your money stolen by the government does not pre-qualify you for the 1%.

LOL That’s a joke. The vast majority of the country is poor bro, that’s the whole point. $30-50k a year in California is poor, and you’re likely not making that much in other states without an education. Rent is $1250 for a one bedroom here, maybe they have debt (as many people do) $10 a month can be a lot. Additionally, you keep ignoring the fact that there are BILLIONAIRES Who benefit from polluting the atmosphere, fossil fuel consumption, coal and things of that nature. Maybe the poorest in the country are tired of that BS, and shills like you defending the system.

Such as https://wallethacks.com/average-median-income-in-america/ since half of americans make less than $30,000 a year, but please, tell me about how the poor aren’t poor. Idiot.
