Goo-Gul should deny responsibility for such a dastardly employee practice. (sarcasm)

They would NEVER spy on and terminate a conservative employee, would they? (rhetorical and sarcastic)

Barney Goo-Gul is turning over in his grave, and Snuffy Smith is about to do the same.

Yeah, google’s so awful, meanwhile you’re being watched through your laptop camera by a government employee right now but that’s totally fine, eh comrade?

anyone that expects even a fraction of privacy while using their company’s computer systems is an absolute idiot. My friends in the IT department at my company tell me they can see EVERYTHING we do. You’d be amazed at what people have been caught doing on their work computers, and their genuine shock that they got disciplined for it

Nobody commenting on the article picture being of Facebook Headquarters?

If you want privacy use a VPN & get rid of all of your “smart” speakers (alexa, siri, etc). That’s a start that will put you ahead of a large portion of the population.

While I agree with your sentiments, most employees can’t use a VPN on their work machine

A company I once worked for took screenshots of the employees screens throughout the day. You couldn’t tell they were doing it, but at random intervals, they checked to see what people were doing. If you were not on a break or lunch, and were on a non-work related website, you were written up for it. Nowadays, any IT Department can flat out watch your screen and see what you’re doing, or pull a report to see what sites you’ve visited and how long you were on them.

I had to fire a CSR one time for multiple things, mostly not getting her work done. We audited her computer after she left and you wouldn’t believe what we found. Add that to the many reasons she was let go. Work is not play time and robs the employer.
