“In the Chicago area, there are more than 20 calls every day to emergency services from McDonald’s stores, the suit said”.

That’s a lot of calls, even for roughly 300 locations.

And if the shelves were raised, then lawyers representing little people would be bringing suit. Why not make them like a Bank with bullet proof glass and a small pass through for money and food? Or maybe, how about getting tough on these crimes and start locking up criminals instead of waiting for them to rack up 5+ felonies before locking them up!

Chicago is a dangerous place. No wonder so many good people have left.

sure is a beautiful city, though…tons of history, great food, overall nice folks.

Yeah, that’s my take as well, though, like any large metropolitan area Chicago has its bad areas.

Life’s what you make of it, and Agent’s picture always looks pretty dismal.

The nice folks are the ones leaving. Has something to do with how the city is run, heavy taxation and crime riddled areas on the south side.

Taxation is high, and an understandable reason for leaving. The South Side is historically bad.

Haven’t read any reference to the percentage of those leaving that is constituted by “nice folks”. You sure that’s not just balooey emanating from the Lone Star state?

          Hi Agent!

Have you ever been to Chicago? Or, are you just taking Fox News’ word for it? I go there fairly frequently. Tons of nice folks there with no plans on leaving. They love their city and for good reason. There is so much to do, the food options are phenomenal, the night life is outstanding, it’s just a kick a$$ city! IL in general has issues with taxes, I can’t argue that. But Chicago is a fantastic place.

Agreed. Chicago is a great city, with rough areas as many large cities have. If you’re on the south side of Chicago without reason to be, that’s kind of on you.

You wanna show real concern for employee safety McDonald’s? Close all of your Chicago area stores. Animals!

Agree. It has nothing to do with redesign, just the crappy area they are located

So how many attacks occurred before the remodeling? And has not the hazard increased for reaso0ns that have nothing to do with store design? Looks like lawfare against a cirporate pig with the poy calling the kettle black

The issue for McDonald’s is NOT safety. Their issue is customer service. Folks get upset because the employees at most Chicago stores don’t give a flip about client and don’t give a flip about anything but themselves. The stores are dirty, nasty, smelly places and the employees do not care. The Coke Fountains and the places to get napkins and straws are unkept and nasty every time I go in as location. Chick-Fil-A for all of the criticism they get, has clean stores and employees that say, “My pleasure..” EVERY time I say thank you for the smallest of things. That does not happen by accident. The ownership of the McDonalds in Chicago is horrendous – you can tell this because how their folks treat customers every day. Oh sure every once in a while you have an employee who is decent to folks – and then they get made fun of by their co-workers and end up being jerky just like everyone else at McDonalds. I’m not sure why Corporate McD does not do something to ownership that allows their stores to turn into junk yards. Ever been to the McD in Indianapolis on the south side? They are notorious for being junk yards… If McD corporate is serious about turning around results they have to start with how the front line is trained and brought along. Right now it is really sad.

The issue for you may not be safety, but for the employees and customers it is. The issues you stated are grounds for not going into the place to begin with.

No matter how bad the service should the customer really be physically threatening or attacking the employees? When the service is slow I think of people in the world who don’t have even the basic caloric intake needed on a daily basis, let alone a fatty sandwich or unnecessary sugar or coffee drink; be a little more patient and quit yelling at other people just so you can spoil yourself or your kids even more.

I gave up eating McDonald’s a while back. It had nothing to do with them sexually harassing their employees. It was because said employees could care less about getting an order correct. After waiting in a drive-thru for 20 minutes, and only ordering a quarter pounder with cheese meal, you’d think it would be pretty easy to get the order correct. Nope. The one by my house is privately owned and the owners work those people to the bone. Always understaffed, the place is always dirty and over the past year, their volume has dropped about 50%. It’s the only nasty (inside) fast food place in the area. Beautiful new building, same shady owners. It’s always one male Manager on duty, typically in his 30’s or 40’s, with 2 or 3 high school girls working the register and putting together the meals. That, in itself, seems to be a recipe for harassment.

I gave up on McDonald’s and all fast food burger joints decades ago. Why? Because it tastes like crap and it isn’t healthy for me.
