Did anyone expect pharma companies in any nation to approve of such a plan to lower their revenue streams? It is essentially the same motive for health insurance companies to agree with (i.e. not object to / remain silent on the issue) the ACA’s absence of meaningful, credible cost control measures back in 2009-10.

Those poor pharma bros. What will they do if they cannot prioritize profits over the health of the populace?

The exact same drugs are significantly cheaper just north of the border. Which is crazy, because it is often our tax dollars that pay for the R&D to develop these drugs. Then we get bilked on the back end with them claiming it is because “R&D is so expensive”.

Canadian pharmacies are already advertising in the US. You can buy Rx’s through Canadian pharmacies now, it’s just not legal. I purchase 3 meds, not available generically in US, and the price savings is staggering.

Maybe the pharmaceutical companies here will stop being so greedy. It’s insane and not sure why the pharmaceutical companies cannot be regulated here with their price gouging.

Very Trumpian. There is little to no chance this actually happens as I’m sure Trump mouthpieces have already told Big and Little Pharma. In my view, Trump has already and will continue to take big $$$ from Big Pharma and their payoff is NO ACTION in return for $$$.

You’re sure Trump mouthpieces have already told pharma exactly what?
In my view, there is no evidence that Trump has taken $ from pharmas as payoff. What say you regarding evidence of your claim….. or are you using ‘Dems Off-the-books Laws’ vs. Trump’s accomplishments?

IMPOTUS just doesn’t want to pay premium for his little blue pill. Dude’s needs a little hope in his rope. Sorry, I meant dude needs a little zing in his string. What would Fox News be saying if Obama did this? “He’s trying to model Canada. He wants government takeover of healthcare. This is just the first step.” Hannity’s forehead vein would have burst on live television.

So let me see if I understand this – Canada’s health care system is doing something right and we need to lean on them for lower drug costs? And I’ve only heard from our politicians how the Canadian system stinks.

Drug regulation isn’t perfect in Cana-duh. But it’s better and more efficient / economical than that in the US.
No one agrees that their Socialist HealthCare System is better than the US… other than power-hungry Socialists.

Not for you someone who had the details to the plan before it was every released that you kept promising was coming.

I think the rich believe our system is better and most middle to the lower class would disagree with your statement.

Anecdotal evidence, sure, but as someone whose health insurance premiums and deductibles and OOP maximums have all gone up year after year and still had to pay many thousands of dollars for medically necessary surgery, I would agree with flawedlogic and disagree with Polar’s comment here.

I do not have the details of particular plans. I know of the details of many plans offered which are waiting in the wings for takeoff. SCOTUS may give them clearance in the Summer of 2020.

But what does that have to do with the topic of this article?

Nearly everyone disagrees with ACA, except those who get it free. Your speculation about who agrees with me is just that; i.e. speculation. Got any poll results? If so, better not show them as it contradicts your point of view on public satisfaction with ACA. Keep your plan, your doctor, AND SAVE $2500 on average… All Intentional Lies

Polar: “No one agrees that their Socialist HealthCare System is better than the US… ”

I don’t know if it’s true. The fake news will never report it. But it could be true. No, that’s what I heard, I don’t know.

In the US, majority of Americans like keeping dependents to age 26 and no exclusions for preexisting conditions. What they don’t like is the high deductibles in addition to the premium payments and oop cost and drug costs. The promise of ACA was to get a large enough pool (by mandate) so that healthy people would help offset cost of the unhealthy. Remember that’s how it should work? Well actually only those with real need buy the plans, working people get no subsidy, and costs have gone up so now it is all unpopular. Essentially, insurance companies are trying to revert us back to selective underwriting and State high risk pools….so as the courts have stricken the mandate for everyone to participate, there is no way to restore “affordable” to ACA.
