While Polar is yelling about climate hoaxes and other boomer ramblings, this article actually shows a very real threat on the horizon. The cost of fighting these kinds of attacks is often astronomical, leaving most businesses little choice but to pay the ransom. It’s truly terrifying what the right hacker outfit can do if they want to, we need to be advising our clients of these risks to the fullest of our abilities to really protect their livelihoods.

Hi Perplexed! See this article insurancejournal.com/news/international/2020/01/15/554802.htm where before I posted the above comment, Polar posted a similar comment in that article yelling about “climate hoaxers”. Once again, you seem so quick to yell at me about actions you’re oddly silent about from right-wing posters! Why don’t you try avoiding that double-standard and the hypocritical posting behavior, and nag him for the same behavior you feel the need to call me out for? Thanks!

Also, if boomers don’t want to be seen as lacking in intelligence and critical thinking ability, maybe you lot should stop cramming fingers in your ears and yelling about hoaxers at every given opportunity. Or trying to insult/dismiss anyone who disagrees with you. Once again, this is your side’s tactic, I’m just better at it than you lot.

I hate to say it, but I expect our government to identify and punish these cyber attackers, even if it takes a drone strike in a foreign land. I cannot believe the NSA doesn’t know who is doing this. When you pay ransom, you are making the crime more attractive. That’s not the ethical thing to do. It’s cowardly and short sighted. Dealt with in the harshest terms, these invisible enemies will back off. Millions for defence, not one cent for tribute!

I really think out government is nowhere near capable of dealing with this threat on the scale we’re seeing it, unfortunately. We have people that can, sure, but nowhere near the amount of opposition. Truly anyone can be hacked, and our government knows it. I think that’s why they’ve been throwing the book at anyone pulling any kind of minor hacking infraction that they can get ahold of, because our systems are so vulnerable.
