Crude is always leaking out from sea bottoms, all over the world. It has been for 500 million years.

So then why even try to prevent oil spills…

That may be true, but not 130,000,000 gallons from one location over a very short duration.

We don’t need any oil from the ocean or the gulf.
We have MORE oil than Saudi Arabia in the Permean Oil fields of West TX and So. OK alone! We don’t need any new production as it is all just going to export to make $$ for
the oil producers. And we pay the price here with environmental degradation from spills.
We have been ENERGY Independent since before OBAMA. Trump’s claim that we are recently energy independent, like 90% of what he says, is bogus…putting it nicely.

If you have an interest in the Deep Water Horizon oil spill and the world energy sector. I suggest that you read Rachel Maddow’s book “Blowout”. No matter which side of the issue you fall on I think that in fifty years the fossil fuel industry will be less than twenty percent of what it is today. You can deny climate change all you want, but change is coming.
