I get paid by the hour; the owner told us to just charge us for the time we work; if we take off several hours to watch cartoons or go outside and watch the birds just don’t put it on your timesheet.
If I am working at home and using the company-offered computers, I may accept the use of employee monitoring software installed on the computer. Otherwise, it’s weird. Employers can only install employee monitoring software such as Easemon on company-offered computers rather than employees’ personal computers.
If you are a professional and salaried then you are capable of managing your own time. As long as you are getting your work done. One problem with monitoring is there is no way to uniformly gauge work behavior. I may be doing research outside the work system or do paperwork and that may be flagged as “NOT WORKING”
If you don’t trust your staff, fine otherwise let us do our jobs.
