There are policies that are paying claims, especially those that have all-causes clauses. But they are more expensive and not many people bought them. So while its accurate to say not many policies will pay, it should also be pointed out that the coverage did exist and many people didn’t buy it.
Travel insurance has certain covered perils, and exclusions. The policies state what is covered. If it’s excluded, they don’t pay. Every policy I’ve seen will cover unreimbursed medical expenses related to an illness that occurs while on the trip. They will pay for med-evacuation for serious illnesses and injuries. They won’t send a helicopter to a cruise ship to pick up someone who has a fever and lost his appetite.
My policy does not cover epidemics. However, an emidemic and a pandemic are completly different entities. If an insurance company is not going to cover something, they should spell it out.
I’m a typical American who has purchased many Allianz plans in the past and never had a problem.
But again, they should have added one word after epidemic-PANDEMIC,
Sorry youi don’t like Americans, but we know the difference between epdemic and pandemic. Get a dictionary and check.
Allanz just does not want to get hit with all of the returns that their customers.are entitled to.
Would be interested to get comment from anyone who has a yearly travel policy, I have one that is now useless but the insurer, Covermore, apart from retrospectively calling the Pandemic a “known event”, hasn’t contacted me and presumably other yearly policy holders to offer any sort of extension, refund or anything. They would have known from the outset that nobody can claim on these policies now because nobody can travel !
After jumping through multiple hoops to recoup canceled LA concert tickets Allianz, refuses to pay. Their response is as follows; “Thank you for choosing Allianz Global Assistance to protect your recent event. We are sorry that your event did not go as planned. We have completed our review of your claim, and unfortunately are unable to provide benefits under the coverage you purchased because: Your plan excludes coverage for losses due to an epidemic” Ticketmaster is promoting a fraudulent insurance company.

Typical that American’s are too lazy to read the conditions stated in the policy. then they want to blame the insurance company for their ignorance.

Because this is an issue specific to Americans.
