“Experts” can’t even tell me what the weather will be like tomorrow…so in 50 years they are better?

Ask Al Gore, whose predictions of about 15 years ago failed to be realized.

Then ask someone who wouldn’t be in a position to profit from false prophesies, or gain political power through taxation for fake reasons.

Man up, Jon. Do you side with Michael Moore’s criticism of solar and wind as a joke in his new movie “Planet of the Humans”?

Can you tell me if solar and wind are viable solutions to Climate Change, and if so, why do so many legitimate climate scientists disagree.

You lefties always remind us how you “believe in science”. Well, what does science tell you?

Same boring tactics, Craig. You keep trying to control the conversation and insist that solar and wind aren’t viable, and that YOU know exactly what will and won’t work about climate change. You righties keep trying to act like you care about the science, well the science was still telling us this was a real issue five years ago when you righties were lying about climate change’s existence in the slightest. Then you switched to “man-made climate change isn’t real” as your tactic. Now you’re pivoting to “we can’t do anything about it anyway!” as your pathetic cry to rally behind. We know your side has lied and continues to lie, it’s time to stop listening to your generation on this subject. We know all you care about is staring into the bleeding jaws of capitalism and saying “yes daddy please”. No thanks.

And I laugh at how many of you Deep Believers know nothing about the subject. Because YOU are the reason nothing is getting done. Since you fall for EVERYthing you don’t know what to reject as pointless in order to get on with solving the problem.

Wind is a joke. Not only does it require trasmission lines that will be stopped by environmentalists, bird killing that will be the same, toxic materials for construction, replacement every 20 years or so, and diminishing effectiveness over distance, it can’t scale at all to help much.

Solar is a joke. Roof top solar is not competitive with natural gas or fossil fuel created electricity. It has to be subsidized for people to buy it or mandated. That means those people who can’t afford it pay more for traditional electricity (think poor people) in order to subsidize roof top.

Desert solar plants ARE competitive with fossil fuel electricity. But environmentalists (again) hate them because they take up so much space, require long-range transmission that dissipates the energy (see wind problem), and deplete natural habitat. The amount of space required to actually make a dent in electricity needs for a sizable amount of population is massive. Forget it.

Battery technology has stalled and many believe it will never become efficient enough to overcome the problem with solar and wind: no electricity when it is cloudy or the wind isn’t running.

Nuclear power could solve the problem in 20 years. Many more leftists are embracing nuclear as the only solution in the near term. But the environmentalists are religious in their opposition, despite modern nuclear power producing far less waste and being far less dangerous than ever before.

Many new technologies may help, but are a ways from being able to scale. Research into geo thermal and MANY other sources for future energy is diverse and expanding rapidly. But they will need time. (It is truly mind-boggling how many possible solutions are being researched.)

The other solutions are all political and will never work: banning fossil fuels, carbon taxes, suing oil companies, etc. ignore the costs to poor and middle class people who pay far more of a percentage of income for energy than do high income people.

            I could go on.

You claimed to have the answer, and you posted your answer. And I thank you again for doing that. I never claimed I had the answer, but my solution – due to various reasons – is that we need to use all forms of energy production as no single solution will currently provide all the energy we need.

Prove it. Where are your studies that show all of this information? You’ve lied about climate change countlessly, prove your information. You are not an expert, so where are you basing this on?

“Solar is a joke. Roof top solar is not competitive with natural gas or fossil fuel created electricity. It has to be subsidized for people to buy it or mandated. ” So what? We’re talking about saving the planet, why are you whining about cost here when you’re fine with price gouging the poor and middle class? And so you embrace EVERYTHING. Which means nothing will get done.

Rational, informed people like Michael Moore and others will get crucified for speaking the truth because millions of people like you don’t know how to distinguish between BS and gold.

And so we will never focus. On what really can help both scientifically AND politically.

And people like Jon will keep on calling people names like “denier” and “sellout for big oil”.

LOL again, I haven’t embraced anything. Literally all I’ve done is point out the many obvious holes in your argument tactic.

As I pointed out, you merely want to try and guide any conversation into certain little boxes that you can tear apart with your pre-planned fox news attacks. However, you ignore the obvious solution I’ve mentioned many times (making the rich companies that pollute pay for it) and the more glaring fact that YOU ARE NOT AN EXPERT. You have made many opinion statements as if they are fact, however as noted, you lie, Craig. You’ve lied on this very subject. You are not an expert and things you have stated as fact are plainly not true. You are also hypocritical and will turn-around on a moments notice if it helps you win an argument. The idea that you would call Michael moore “rational and informed” shows your glaring hypocrisy. He made a documentary that you’ve touted regularly that has been slammed by experts for inaccuracies, yet you’re trying to push him as rational now that he’s arguing on the side of your craziness? Yeah, that’s called hypocrisy.

If you want to focus on what we can do to help, stop trying to tear down anyone who disagrees with the Republicans. Maybe realize that the republicans being the ones who stand to benefit from refusing to fight climate change are NOT the ones to listen to.

People like you ARE sellouts for big oil, and deniers. You used to deny climate change, then you denied man-made climate change, now you deny that we can do anything.

You’re right, the beat does go on, it’s just going on without you.

John – I think Craig was responding to me.

“And so you embrace EVERYTHING. Which means nothing will get done.”

Why do you presume if we try to juggle multiple industries that nothing will get done?

Why can’t the nuclear industry continue to produce nuclear power while hydroelectric does it’s thing; solar and wind can continue to expand while investing in R&D; and battery tech keeps improving its capacity, storage, long-term life and recharge-ability?

            These are mult-billion dollar industries.

They can all focus on their own stuff, no?

Fine, but you and I and Michael Moore know that the demand if for LOTS of taxpayer dollars/subsidies/regulations in all of those industries.

If they were on their own, no problem. But NONE of them are.

And the bigger point is that since Believers won’t admit where the solutions won’t work to provide much help, they are distracting money and focus from solutions that would work.

Hence, Mr. Moore is getting crucified for a movie extolling solutions about Climate Change because he doesn’t speak the usual dishonest PC babble. (Pretty funny, no?)

As an elementary school kid in the Chicago area in the 1970s we were told about the coming ice age. Global cooling would be so dramatic that Illinois would be largely uninhabitable and the far south of the US would be overwhelmed with people. Economic ruin was predicted, dramatic social changes, etc. We were taught this as fact by our teachers. I remember vividly YA fiction geared towards this. Global cooling was accepted science, at least by educators in several Chicago suburbs (moved around a lot as a kid due to life conditions). We were told we would see this in our lifetimes, I’m still waiting.

Take your pick: global cooling 1974, global warming 2020.

You just became aware that experts in the field of climate science have stated that Michael Moore’s film features a NUMBER of false claims, and yet you just ignored that information to take a cheap shot at liberals. Almost as if you don’t care about facts or truth, just at trolling liberals, huh?

I say it again. You are doing nothing but trolling. This is what the right has become: incendiary, sad old men who only want to insult and spread misinformation. You want to obfuscate, lie and belittle. Go back to reddit where you belong, troll.

Look, I know you aren’t the good at comprehension, but here again is what I said, dumbed down for you:

If a very smart believer in climate change spends money and time to make a movie to convince people to act on climate change and even HE gets it all wrong . . . why should we trust any of these Doom Sayers?

LOL such cunning wit on display with the phrase “a very smart believer in climate change”. You’re referring to Michael Moore. Want to give us a little insight into your opinion on Michael Moore when he made Bowling for Columbine? Or an inconvenient truth? But now he’s a “Very smart believer in climate change” huh? Your hypocrisy knows no bounds.

An old person made something incorrect. Big deal. Your president has been “incorrect” (lied) over 18,000 times since he’s been in office. What does that say about Republicans? Why should we trust ANY of these incompetent reprehensibles?

You’re using a straw-man argument. If Michael Moore got it wrong how can we trust ANY climate scientists? That’s your argument, really? That’s weak even for you, Craig. Why don’t you try to actually let people educate themselves instead of yelling at anyone who tries to learn anything about this subject, as you do on EVERY SINGLE climate change article on this board. Your game is obfuscation and misinformation and we all know it. Troll elsewhere, troll

You must be such a happy person to be around.

No, clown boy. You STILL didn’t get it. I didn’t say “climate scientists”.

I continue to point out how the inability to do ANYTHING on climate change is because all you non-scientist “believers” don’t care enough to figure out the facts on what will work and what won’t.

YOU are the problem, not me. If you “believers” could ever get your story straight, someone might listen. But you don’t bother.

Oh trust me Craig, I’m a proud misanthrope. Why would I want to be around people when so many people are like you? However you’re not fooling anyone, people hate you just as much and more, buddy.

I know you didn’t say climate scientists genius. You’re taking me literaly to avoid the point I was actually making.

You’re trying to play the blame game while your political party does everything in it’s power to obfuscate and misinform. We know exactly what you’re doing, Craig.

You want to point the finger, but the only person slowing progress is you. Notably above, you started yelling about other peoples’ potential solutions before anyone even said anything. You can’t WAIT to shut people down when trying to come up with a solution here, because all you want to do is shut people down. Which again, no one is saying here that they have the solutions. All I’m saying is, we should not listen to YOU. You are no expert, you troll these forums regularly, you’re willing to lie to win arguments. In short, I don’t have all the answers, but you are actually insidiously trying to pretend you do. You do not.

To go one further, conversation about this subject is totally feasible. You’re not trying to have a conversation, or learn anything, or even present anything interesting. You just want to yell, and it and by it I mean you, are boring.
