This is still victim blaming. The woman was drunk and wouldn’t leave him alone. Just because he was an NFL player doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve his own space.

I don’t know where you’re getting your definition of harassment, but your HR department needs to update their course. A person who doesn’t even work with the company like a UPS delivery driver can still harass someone at your agency. There’s no power dynamic required.

You’re projecting onto him because he couldn’t “handle” this kind of attention. In reality, no one should have to “handle” a drunk person harassing them, especially in an enclosed place like a plane.

Remember power is not always physical, but can be mental also. He knew that if he did anything physical to stop this woman from touching him this story would have gone a whole different direction. If the roles were reversed you would have said how terrible he was and should be thrown in jail. He did the right thing in expecting the airline to control this woman. She knew better and being intoxicated is only an excuse. If she was that intoxicated she should not have been allowed to board the plane. As an adult she is responsible for her own actions as he is his. So tell us Tiger88, how would you have handled it?

Tiger88, are you suggesting he should have hurt her? That would not have ended well for him. It seems like he did everything he could to divert her pathetic overtures/abuse, whatever you want to call it.

Her power is the fact she is a white woman and they were African American males, most likely very physically fit. Had they spoke overly harsh to her or touched her in any way shape or form SHE most likely would’ve cried sexual harassment/assault and those men would’ve been arrested and going through some legal issues now.

The woman should have been met by US Marshall’s when the plane landed. There is no excuse for this. If it had been a man behaving that way with a woman, he would have been arrested when they landed.

Craig — so if the NFL player grabbed her hand/wrist to stop her, due to size difference, he would come out the “bad” guy. Flight attendant should have done something to move the drunk. If she still acted up, then arrange for her arrest at the destination.

LOL you insult with the “any man with half a brain…” and then describe a situation in which you physically control a woman as if that’s the right move. Craig, I would ask you to PLEASE pull this move and see how quickly you’re arrested except the idea of a woman harassing you just made me laugh so hard I spit out my drink.

The fact that this was brought to a lawsuit does seem silly to me, but you idiots on the right that have a problem with ANYONE feeling harassed are way off base on this one, like most things. You’re not allowed to “physicall control” anyone, idiot, that’s generally viewed as assault.

The article specifically says the man was black and the woman was white. You’re really stupid enough to believe that if a white woman harassing a black man is physically removed by the black man, that he’s not going to be arrested? I would expect this kind of racial stupidity from you, but let me explain.

If he had “physically controlled” her, he would have been arrested. That’s how things work in this country, for literally decades. You’re a bigger fool than I thought if you really think he could have “physically controlled” her. You can keep pretending you know what you’re talking about, but as usual, dishonesty and idiocy is all you have to offer, Craig.

I ignored it because it’s asinine. He paid how much for his flight? He should be allowed to sit in his seat. The airline actually DID mess up here, but as usual you want to blame the victim regardless of the situation. Possibly because you want all victims blamed, because god forbid someone says something about you, right? How many people are out there that you think “should have just walked away” if they didn’t like what you were doing, Craig?

Keep em coming, pathetic old republican snowflake.

Like for example, this WAPO piece.

If black men were being rounded up and arrested and or shot, there would be far more instances on the media.

This is tiresome. Stop bringing race into things in which race is not part of it.

From bob’s WAPO article: “The results come from a laboratory project at Washington State University using highly realistic police simulators, in which actors in various scenarios approach and respond to officers on large, high-definition video screens in an attempt to recreate critical situations on the street.”

You’re trying to prove your argument using data from SIMULATORS WITH ACTORS and NOT DATA FROM ACTUAL POLICE CASES.

When I was in high school in the early and mid 90’s, there was a few girls who liked to rub the butts and grab the private areas of the “nerdy” guys (yep, I was one of ’em) as we;d walk by, or if we accidentally walked in front of them. It was EXTREMELY humiliating, but what could I do? It was too embarrassing to tell someone in higher authority,, and obviously physically fighting back was not even close to an option.

People wanting to not be harassed when they’re in an enclosed space, how dare they!

It’s not about government interference and you know it, it’s about whether or not any person has the right to not be harassed. Your side would prefer harassment weren’t something you could be brought to court for, and we all know why.
