I hear one of the major credit reporting agencies has a super shady product. I believe as long as there are a minimum number of residents in a building, they will provide a composite credit score or grouping. Basically it would allow a company know what housing in an area is higher income and incorporate that into its underwriting selection. I’m on the industry side but there need to be limits. Clearly that will cause a disparate impact.

The world has gone crazy. The insurance companies don’t have any idea what the race of the insured is. How stupid can you get.

We know there are racists at every level of society, from the police to the medical field to the education system to the housing industry. Are you really so unwilling to admit to the possibility that an insurance adjuster may let their personal bias affect how they treat a claim? Or that a large insurance brokerage may not be hiring anyone of a certain ethnic background?

Any research to help prevent this kind of discrimination is good research. Just because you’ve been so privileged to not feel racism in your life doesn’t mean it’s not there.

Racism goes both ways partner. I worked in the insurance industry over 30 years. Many of those years were in the city of Detroit.. Blacks are racist against whites too. Wise up!!!

Martin’s reply while unnecessary to context of anything relevant to the issue the article or racism is indicated of the targets of this expansive study. Claiming to have worked in the industry of over 30 years should well know he is is part the problem with his clearly racist undertones and overt comments. Just like to housing industry there is not a need for another study to confirm, prove or verify that is people like Martin with his ill thinking that give the industry a poor image when it comes to discrimination. It’s not about your privilege Martin it’s about to keep folks like the Martin’s of the world from their stinking thinking, but you can’t help stupid! Take your own advice and “Wise up!!!” Martin. Like it or not this a sea-change for the world and “those people” like you. There is no turning back as much you Martin (“those people) would like to keep the status-quo maintained.

Northest.. You do not know my privilege or where I started in this life and you certainly do not know my color or race. I can tell you that I was asked to run for Mayor in the city of Detroit. I can also tell you that my best friend is black and he agrees with my statement. I wrote more insurance in the city of Detroit to black folks than you could ever imagine writing now or going forward. I did a lot for the black community in the city. My only statement was…. Blacks are racist too. Prove my statement wrong without going through pages of ranting and false statements.. Statements you know are not true because you do not know me.

Stupid is as Eddie is Stupid! Of course insurance companies know the race applicants. Clearly, Eddie has never applied for a DL, Life Insurance or had to place is own race on any application ever in life…Stupid like Eddie’s comments. If Google, Alexa, the world can know so much about you what makes you believe Eddie insurance company databases with rich data and resources have not similarly gained insights to customer demographics is this aged of advance data collection and computing. At least Eddie has shown the world just how little he really knows about the industry and as far as stupidity he fine job on his own with that one.

It sounds like the NAIC is looking at a broader picture, as per the article, “to increase diversity and inclusion, address practices that potentially disadvantage minorities…”

    Minorities. Equality. Fairness. Camera. TV.

If the NAIC really wants to help then they need to investigate banks and insurance. Many times my clients have told me and my producers that banks offered them a lower interest rate on their business loan if they put their entire business insurance portfolio with them.

I am even ready to go so far as to get private investigators involved on the activity.
