Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher announced that the Oklahoma Market Assistance Program, which helps Oklahomans purchase homeowners insurance, is under new management. The move came after the program’s long-time director, Marion Rook, announced his retirement.
The OK-MAP program was established by the legislature in the mid-1980s to assist homeowners who had been turned down by two or more companies for homeowners’ coverage. It is now being managed by the Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma. Rook will remain with the program through the end of August to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
“Marion Rook is an amazing individual and he has provided a tremendous service to Oklahomans,” Fisher said. “I am excited because the IIAO will be able to implement technology that will make the OK-MAP program more efficient and effective for homeowners.”
The OK-MAP program’s Web site at www.mapsprogram.com allows homeowners to download an application, in addition to explaining the operation of the program.
The phone number will remain the same at (405) 842-9883, although its physical address has already changed to 1000 NW 50th in Oklahoma City. Eventually, the program will have a new post office box.
