Combined Agents of America LLC (CAA) announced that three of its members were elected to serve as presidents of the Austin, Houston and Permian Basin chapters of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas for the 2003-2004 term.
Kelli Stanford, president of the Ed Weeren Insurance Agency Inc., was inducted as president of the Austin chapter earlier this month. Stanford has been in the insurance business for twelve years and has served on the board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Austin for the past four years. For her term as president, Stanford will continue the path laid out by outgoing president, Greg Messerole. She plans to lead the association in community involvement by again sponsoring the annual Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk. Stanford is also committed to encouraging member involvement during her term.
Steve Davis, vice president of GBS Insurance Agency Inc. in Bellaire, will be installed as president of the Houston chapter next month. Davis has been in the insurance industry for over twenty years and has been involved in IIAH for the majority of those years, including serving on the board for the past six years. The Houston chapter is the largest local association in the country and Davis looks forward to growing the membership and increasing member involvement particularly on the committee level.
David Mims, president of Midland-based Mims & Stephens, became president of the Permian Basin association in July. This new association was created by the merging of the Midland and Odessa chapters. Mims began his career in the insurance industry and his involvement with the Midland association in 1977 where he has previously served on the board as vice president and president. For his term, Mims’ goal is to grow membership particularly from areas surrounding Midland/Odessa, and to increase member involvement. The association will also look to support IIAT educational programs, enhance the scholarship program, and improve relations between Midland and Odessa agents.
