Their rates are still higher than most companies, though. This is just a publicity stunt in preparation for the Texas Legislative Session, which began on the 3rd. Now when they\’re fighting the govt they can say \”oh, but we\’ve lowered rates 5 times in 3 years.\” Why not just lower them all at once? nothing has changed in 3 years.

If you know someone cheaper than State Farm Please share the name of the company. I have shopped every agent in my town and no one was cheaper, not even close!!

What ever happened with all the money that SF owed TDI from the fine where they refused to lower HO rates a few years back?

Mel, go to an independent agent that has access to several carriers. You should be able to find a good rate.

What? So who will be picking up the tab in paying out uninsured motorists claims. I see a good number of our insureds that travel to TX on business and are involved in a collision (not at fault), are then told the OV driver is either not licensed, underage or is an illegal alien.

Texans will never see a truly competitive marketplace until State Farm and the rest of the BIG 3, have significantly reduced their marketshare.

State Farm is forced to lower it\’s auto rates because almost every other auto carrier in the state has. You don\’t hear the other carriers getting statewide press from a four percent rate reduction, do you? State Farm does so much advertising and has so many press connections across the state they can get the media to hype up something this trivial, to take attention away from what\’s happening in the courts of Mississippi and Louisiana.

Has anyone seen any lowering of auto rates lately under State Farm? My rates only go up, and I do little driving and have a good record…
