I.I.I.’s Hartwig Slated to Wrap Up Texas Agency Management Seminar

The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas’ 45th Annual Joe Vincent Management Seminar, to be held in Austin Jan. 27 – 29, will feature a motivational presentation by an Olympic speedskater and a rapid-fire wrap up by Insurance Information Institute President Bob Hartwig.

The IIAT announced that the three-day conference, held at the Renaissance Austin Hotel, kicks off Jan. 27 with an industry preview and update of current issues and market changes followed by an evening welcome reception. Teaming up from IIAT to present the industry preview will be Paul Martin, director of education; Lee Loftis, director of governmental affairs and Jim Gavin, continuing education manager

The Jan. 28 general session will feature former Olympic speed skier and founder of the Be Invincible Group, Vincent Poscente, who will detail strategies for business success at full speed. His presentation will be followed by a wide range of technical and management workshops Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. Many workshops are eligible for CE credit.

Following Poscente will be John Wepler, president of national consulting firm Marsh Berry & Co. Wepler will update acquisitions market news and trends and discuss various strategies for success.

The seminar wraps up with a special presentation Tuesday morning by Hartwig. He is scheduled to discuss the history and future of insurance markets in Texas with an eye on anticipating a market turn.

Sessions and workshops follow four tracks: Operations, Sales/Marketing, Human Resources and Small Agency Presentations. Topics will include strategies to reinvigorate producers, learning about the top 10 human resource mistakes, dealing with time wasters, personal lines marketing, presentation skills and performance management among others.

The seminar is named in honor of longtime IIAT member and past president Joe E. Vincent.
